5431. Golden Temple: 'Suspicious' woman caught on CCTV carrying the girl who was found dead outside Darbar Sahib
- The body of a five-year-old girl has been found outside the Sachkhand Sri Darbar Sahib complex.
- After the girl's body was found, the police of Corridor Chowki reached the spot and have taken the body into possession. They have also started further investigation.
- Police officers are collecting information about the suspicious woman seen in the CCTV footage.
- The woman was seen leaving the girl in the compound in the CCTV cameras installed in Harmandir Sahib. The woman is seen carrying the child in her lap

5432. FIR Against 2 Over Ruckus at Mahakal Temple During BJYM Chief Tejasvi Surya’s Visit
- Police have registered an FIR against two persons for allegedly creating ruckus at the Mahakaleshwar temple in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain city during the visit of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) chief Tejasvi Surya, an official said on Thursday. The two accused have not yet been arrested,
- The incident took place on Wednesday when Surya visited the famous temple, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is one of the 12 ‘jyotirlings’ in the country. Some videos which went viral on social media platforms showed a large number of BJYM activists following Surya as he entered the temple.
- They were seen creating a furore after they were stopped by guards from entering the temple’s sanctum sanctorum. In some of the clips, they were seen breaking the barricade of the temple’s Nandi Grah (hall) and toppling the donation box. The temple administrator, Ganesh Dhakad, said they had lodged a police complaint over the incident.

5433. Temple Executive Officer suspended
- Days after the temple car of the Arulmigu Brahadambal shrine at Tirugokarnam in Pudukottai Town toppled injuring nine devotees, the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department on Wednesday placed under suspension Executive Officer Grade- I of Pudukottai Temples S. Ramamoorthy.
- Official sources said the order placing Mr. Ramamoorthy under suspension was issued by the Commissioner, HR & CE Department J. Kumaragurubaran. Mr. Ramamoorthy was placed under suspension “for negligence in his duties”
- During the temple car festival of the Arulmigu Brahadambal shrine that was celebrated in connection with the Aadipuram festival. An elderly woman succumbed to injuries a few days ago.

5434. Neighbors in rural Henderson oppose Hindu temple
- A community in rural Henderson is strongly against a proposed Hindu temple complex that the city’s Planning Commission will vote on Thursday.
- The American Hindu Association is proposing to build a Hindu temple complex on five acres of land on the southeast corner of Kiel Street and Berlin Avenue. Plans include multiple buildings for worship and living areas. The applicant has anticipated six 24-events.
- The location is within a Rural Neighborhood Preservation area where there are no sidewalks and no streetlights. Residents say they enjoy the privacy yet the sense of community they share with neighbors.
- “We have large lots where we can’t hear or see our neighbors in our windows, we don’t get disturbed by noises because we’re far away from one another that our lives don’t impact on one another. And it just seems like having festivals and gatherings of people on property in every point and turn seem to be commercially used by general public just isn’t what fits in our neighborhood,” Hood said.

5435. Man arrested for stealing idols from Mumbai temple
- A 32-year-old man was arrested by the Shivaji Nagar police for allegedly committing theft at a temple in Mumbai’s Govandi on August 3. The police said that the accused, identified as Akhtar Haider Ansari, had escaped with two idols and added that both the idols were recovered from his home after his arrest.
- “The complainant, Prasad Patade, who is the caretaker of the temple, opened the doors of the temple around 6.30 am and after cleaning the premises, he left around 7.30 am. When he returned around 9.30 am, he saw two idols of Hanuman and Durga, weighing 5 kg and 7 kg, respectively, missing. A 1.5-kg puja thali (a large plate used to put offerings before the deities) made of brass was also missing.”
- After alerting and inquiring with the locals, Patade approached the police and lodged a complaint at Shivaji Nagar police station. A case of theft was registered and when the police checked the CCTV footage of the cameras near the temple, the officials could not spot the suspect.
- “We then checked the cameras leading to the main road and identified the suspect. Later, we scanned our diary of history-sheeters and found the suspect’s footage matching Ansari’s photos.”

5436. Ram Janki temple priest beheaded in Bettiah, severed head kept at nearby Pipra Kali temple
- A priest of a Ram Janaki temple was brutally murdered in Bettiah, Bihar. The murderers severed his head and placed it in the nearby Pipra Kali temple sending shock waves to the entire city. The incident is said to have taken place at Ram Janaki temple in Bakulhar village which falls under the Gopalpur police station area of Chanpatia block, Bettiah.
- The Pujari used to sleep in the temple at night, and like every day, he slept on Tuesday also after completing daily rituals and closing all doors and gates. However, the miscreants entered the temple by calling a wall in the night and killed him.
- The accused separated the head of the priest and carried it to the Pipra Kali temple looked after by the Jaitiya Panchayat. The Kali temple is around 2 km away from the Ram Janaki temple.
- The incident came to light on Wednesday morning when the devotees entered both the temples for morning prayers. They saw the body and the severed head at the respective temples and immediately informed the Police. The killer left behind a chappal which was found in the temple premises.

5437. Servitors Conflict In Lingaraj Temple, No Prayer Or Prasad Since 2 Days
- There has been a conflict between two sets of servitors of Lingaraj temple since yesterday, said reliable sources. The two conflicting groups are Puja Pandas and Badu nijoga.
- Daily rituals have not been performed nor has prasad been cooked for Lord Lingaraj the ruling deity of Bhubaneswar.
- The conflict allegedly arose due to the ‘Paita Lagi’ ritual and relating to this the puja has been stopped. The said disagreement is yet to be resolved.
- The matter has been brought under the notice of Odisha Hindu Religious Endowment Commission for being heard.

5438. Raksha Bandhan In Puri Srimandir: Special Rakhis For Lord Jagannath & Siblings
- ‘Gamha Purnima’, when Rakhsa Bandhan’ is celebrated, is an important date in the calendar of festivals of Jagannath temple in Odisha’s Puri town. Like other festivals, it also involves a number of rituals, while the ‘rakhis’ for Lord Jagannath and Lord Balabhadra are prepared through an elaborate procedure.
- As per tradition, Patara Bisoyi servitors prepare the rakhis for the sibling deities, known as ‘Pata Rakhis’, which Devi Subhadra ties to Her brothers on Gamha Purnima.
- The preparation of the rakhis along with 54 ‘Guamala’ (garland of areca nuts) begin after completion of Chitalagi Amavasya rituals in the temple. This year, ‘Gamha Purnima’ will be celebrated on Thursday.
- “Ten days prior to the festival, the temple administration provides with ‘Basunga Pata’ (cloth). Four rakhis for Lord Jagannath and Lord Balabhadra while 10 small ones for the Parswa Devatas (minor deities) of the temple are made with ‘Basunga Pata’. The Rakhis and Guamalas are then taken to the temple,” said a temple servitor.

5439. Plea filed in 2012 to free Hindu temples from govt. control to come up for hearing in SC next month
- Swamy Dayanada Saraswati (Arsha Vidya), Swamy Paramatmananda and Vishveshwaranand Giriji Maharaj in 2012 filed a plea in Supreme Court seeking directions to free Hindu temples from governmental control in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andhra Pradesh.
- The plea contended that the legislations take away the autonomy of the Religious Institutions and Denominations. Even the conduct of religious rites and rituals are regulated by the Executive Officers and by the Trustees appointed by the Government.
- The PIL, stated that the proposed expenditures and budgets for conducting religious rituals have to be considered upfront by the authorities of the Department and the Government and only after meeting with their approval money can be spent for such rituals.
- The plea stated “The temples are thus virtually treated as the personal freedom of the political masters.”

5440. Ruckus inside Ujjain's Mahakaleshwar temple as BJP Yuva Morcha workers thrash guards, jump barricades
- Scenes of distress and ruckus were witnessed inside the holy Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain when certain political workers - reportedly belonging to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Yuva Morcha fumed over the denial of entry at the temple premises. Visuals from the site showed angry workers creating ruckus inside the holy premises and jumping over barricades. Videos accessed by Times Now also showed saffron-clad priests being pushed by the miscreants.
- It is learnt that BJP MP Tejasvi Surya, who is also the president of the party's youth wing, was at the temple to pay a visit during the holy month of Saavan. While Surya was allowed to enter the temple, some of his supporters were denied entry, after which they created ruckus inside the temple premises.
- One of the twelve Jyotirlingas, the Mahakaleshwar Temple is one of the most important shrines for Shiv bhakts. The shrine is visited by thousands of devotees, especially during the holy month of Saavan. The incident took place at a time when the premises was choc a bloc with devotees. According to local reports, when police and security personnel tried to stop the BJP workers, they were also pushed and manhandled.
- It may be noted that entry to garbhgrihas of the Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain is banned. There have, however, been instances when exceptions were made for politicians and VIPs. On Monday, for instance, Indore lawmaker Ramesh Mendola reportedly entered the garbhagriha of the temple, after which the administration suspended two officials, including a protocol officer.
