5381. Expert visits Belur
- On the second day of his visit to Hassan on Sep16, Tiong Kian Boom, an expert on monuments and historical sites, went to Channakeshava Temple in Belur. The temple is among the Hoysala structures expecting the World Heritage Site tag.
- Mr. Boom, who represents International Commission on Monuments and Sites, will submit a report to UNESCO, which will declare the tag. Officers of the ASI and temple management welcomed Mr. Boom. They accompanied the expert during the visit to the temple and explained to him the special features of the temple, which has a history of over 900 years.
- Additional DC of Kavita Rajaram, A. Devaraj, Commissioner of Department of Archaeology Museums and Heritage of Karnataka, and senior officers of the ASI were present. The expert will be visiting Somanathapura in Mysuru district on Friday.

5382. Ramappa temple to host a cultural event on September 18
- Preparations are afoot for the mega cultural event to be organised at the historic Ramappa temple in Palampet of Mulugu district on September 18 to mark the formal conclusion of the State government’s three-day celebrations of the Telangana National Integration Day.
- The cultural event titled “Ramappa Vaibhavam” will see a galaxy of artists perform on the sprawling premises of the historic temple complex dating back to the 13th century of the Kakatiya era.
- The ancient temple was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2021. Tribal Welfare Minister Satyavathi Rathod, Panchayat Raj Minister E Dayakar Rao, Telugu actor and writer Tanikella Bharani and percussionist Sivamani, among others, will attend the cultural event, sources said.

5383. Tirumala Temple To Be Shut On Oct 25, Nov 8
- The temple of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala will remain closed for nearly 12 hours on October 25 and November 8 due to solar and lunar eclipses respectively.
- Besides the hill temple, nearly 60 other temples administered by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams across the country will close down for pilgrim worship on October 25 due to the “Surya Grahan” (solar eclipse) and again for a similar duration on November 8th due to the “Chandra Grahan” (lunar eclipse).
- According to TTD, worship at the hill temple will resume after the conduct of rituals like Suddhi and Punyahavachanam. The temple body has declared that the VIP break darshan, SRIVANI trust-linked VIP break darshan, Rs.300 special entry darshan, and all other forms of privilege darshan will remain suspended at the Tirumala temple on October 25 and November 8.

5384. Karnataka: UNESCO expert visits Hoysaleshwara temple in Halebedu. Here is why
- After several attempts by the Karnataka government to put Hoysala temples on the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) world heritage sites list, an expert, Tiong Kian Boom, visited the Hoysaleshwara temple on Sep 14 at Halebeedu. He examined the architecture of Hoysalas and will submit a report to the UNESCO.
- The Hindu reported that he discussed the boundary of the temple and structures within 100 metres of the temple with senior officers of the Archeological Survey of India (ASI). After this, Boom will visit the Hoysala temples in Belur and Somanathapura of Karnataka
- Among the people who accompanied Boom at the temple, was Infosys Foundation chairperson Sudha Murty who briefed him about the architectural brilliance of Hoysala temples.

5385. Plea filed in Mathura court for removal of mosque on temple land claims
- A petition has been filed at a Mathura court seeking removal of yet another mosque, the Meena Masjid, belonging to the Mughal era. The petitioner has claimed that the mosque was built on a part of the Thakur Keshav Dev Ji temple, on the east side of the Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi complex.
- The suit has been filed by Dinesh Sharma, national treasurer of Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha (ABHM), as a devotee of Lord Krishna and as his 'Vaad Mitra' (friend of the suit). The suit has been registered in the court of civil judge (senior division) Mathura, Jyoti Singh.
- Several petitions have already been filed in various Mathura courts, seeking the shifting of another important mosque, the Shahi Masjid Idgah, from the complex, with petitioners maintaining that it has been built at the 'birthplace of Lord Krishna' within the core 13.37-acre premises of the temple.

5386. Hindu Temple Defaced In Toronto, India Raises Issue With Canada
- A prominent Hindu temple has been defaced by "Canadian Khalistani extremists" in Toronto with anti-India graffiti in an apparent hate crime, prompting the Indian mission here to condemn the incident and urge authorities to take swift action against the perpetrators. The time of the incident at the BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir, Toronto is not yet known.
- The Indian High Commission on Sep 14 tweeted," We strongly condemn defacing of BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir Toronto with anti-India graffiti. Have requested Canadian authorities to investigate the incident and take prompt action on perpetrators."
- Chandra Arya, Member of Parliament, Canada tweeted, "Vandalism of Toronto BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir by Canadian Khalistani extremists should be condemned by all. This is not just an isolated event. Canadian Hindu temples have been targeted in the recent past by these kinds of hate crimes. Hindu Canadians are legitimately concerned.

5387. The ruins of a thousand-year-old Buddhist Temple will be opened to the public in Kyrgyzstan
- The unearthed remains of an ancient Buddhist temple in Kyrgyzstan will open to the public in mid-September as part of UNESCO’s Krasnaya Rechka world heritage site.
- Between 1940 and 2000, archaeologists excavating in the Chui Valley discovered towns and monumental structures dating from the 5th to 12th centuries that reflected the cultural and artistic traditions of many countries and peoples, from Byzantium in the west to India in the south and China in the east.
- The ancient Buddhist temple, which was constructed more than a thousand years ago, was the second temple found in 2010 close to Krasnaya Rechka (City of Nevaket).
- Valery Kolchenko, a local archaeologist, told Currenttime.tv that the temple is the only remaining site made entirely of clay. It housed a 36-foot statue of a Buddha in nirvana, parts of which were placed in a Russian heritage museum in St. Petersburg.
- It is rather difficult to imagine the former beauty of the monastery: in part, the reconstruction prepared by archaeologists helps with this.

- वृंदावन के ठाकुर बांके बिहारी मंदिर में बीते दिनों में हुए हादसे के बाद जांच कमेटी के अध्यक्ष और पूर्व पुलिस महानिदेशक सुलखान सिंह ने अपनी रिपोर्ट मुख्यमंत्री को सौंपी है, जिसमें 30 सिफारिशें की गई हैं।
- इन सिफारिशों में बांके बिहारी मंदिर को काशी विश्वनाथ कॉरिडोर और विंध्याचल मंदिर परिसर की तर्ज पर विस्तार करने का सुझाव दिया है।

5389. UAE, Indian officials join Abu Dhabi Hindu temple’s construction milestone
- A minister and top officials of the UAE recently joined a ceremony to place the first marble pillar of the upcoming Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi, marking a milestone in the construction of the stone temple.
- The BAPS Hindu Mandir has also shared images of the first marble pillar of the temple being placed in the presence of the three Emirati officials. The images also showed the officials carrying bricks for the mandir’s construction.
- “More than 1,000 community members attended to thank the UAE leadership and the Indian government for its on-going support and guidance. The ministerial delegation also took a memorable picture with the craftsmen creating this unique spiritual oasis of global harmony,” the Mandir management stated while sharing the photos from the event.

5390. Ram temple to be ready for devotees by Dec 2023
- A two-day meeting to take stock of the construction of the Ram Janmabhoomi temple was held in Ayodhya.
- Post the meeting the construction work on the three-floor superstructure of the Ram temple comprising Garbh Griha and five Mandaps at ground floor has started in full swing.
- The superstructure is being constructed on the 21-foot-high plinth which will take the direct load of the temple.
- The darshan of Ram Lalla for devotees will be open by December 2023, and the construction work of the Pilgrimage Facilitation Centre, other utilities & infrastructure services in the complex have started."Shri Ram Bhakts will be able to have darshan of Lord Shri Ram Lalla in Ayodhya.
