5371. Wall near a temple demolished in Rajsamand, Hindu organisations protest amid heavy police presence
- On 17 Sept. 2022, a wall built near the temple in Rajasthan’s Rajsamand was demolished by the local administration. Hundreds of members of the Hindu organization gathered at the location till 1 AM.
- Due to the growing protest, top police authorities were forced to send an additional force to the scene to maintain the law and order. This incident took place near SK Mines in the Dariba police station area, where a wall built near a temple was demolished.
- Locals told the media that when they opposed the demolition of the wall near the temple, a protestor was detained.

5372. Hindus will regain control of the Makkeshwar Mahadev temple in Mecca !
- ‘The Makkeshwar Mahadev temple in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, was vandalised by the Muslim invaders who made it ‘Mecca’.
- One day the Hindus will regain control of that temple. Makkeshwar Mahadev is the centre of Hindu faith’, Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Nishchalananda Saraswati of Purvamanai Govardhan Peeth of Puri asserted while talking to reporters.

5373. 134-year-old Hanuman temple to be ‘translocated’ for Delhi-Lucknow NH widening
- A 134-year-old Hanuman temple coming in the way of the Delhi-Lucknow NH widening project on a stretch near Tilhar area of Shahjahanpur, UP, will be translocated a long with a large peepal tree to a nearby plot owned by a local farmer.
- Bulldozers earlier sent to raze the temple broke down twice, an official said on16 Sept. 2022, adding that “now the entire temple structure will be shifted”
- Incident ally, work on the kilometre-long stretch was stalled for over five years following stiff resistance by temple priests and locals. Recently, following a series of meetings, authorities managed to finally persua de the priests and other locals.

5374. Temple trustee files complaint against AAP workers for threatening him after he did not allow them to paste party posters in front of the temple
- A trustee of a temple in Sola, a 69-year-old temple trustee from Ahmedabad’s Memnagar neighbourhood, filed a complaint against three unidentified Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) activists for reportedly threatening him over posting the party’s poster on a wall in front of the temple.
- Diparam Prajapati, a resident of Memnagar’s Chandralok society near Subhash Chowk filed the complaint with the police.
- In the complaint, Diparam Prajapati stated that since 1992, he has served as the chairman of the Ramapeer temple trust in Sola. On September 4, Prajapati observed some people sticking AAP posters on a wall in front of the revered site as he was seated inside the temple.
- A temple security guard instructed them not to put up posters in front of the temple.

5375. Kedarnath temple to get a ‘golden’ makeover
- A Mumbai based businessman will fund the facelift of Kedarnath temple’s sanctum sanctorum which will now be gold-plated. Currently the sanctum sanctorum of one of the famous Char Dham temple is covered with 230 kilogram of silver.
- Ajendra Ajay, chairman shri Badarinath - Kedarnath temple committee told The Hindu that the firm which has done the gold plating of sanctums of the Kashi Vishwanath and many temples in the South India has been given the task of the replacing the silver inside Kedarnath temple’s sanctum with gold plating.
- The work inside the temple began earlier this week will be completed before Deepawali, said the chairman who claimed that the donation of gold made by the businessman is a ‘ gupta daan’ (secret donation). The gold plating will be done on walls, pillars and on the shed ( chatra) above the deity.

5376. Rituals in Kapilash temple hit as priests resign over pay hike
- The daily rituals of Lord Chandrashekharjew, the presiding deity at the famous Shaivite shrine of Kapilash in this district, were thrown out of gear, 15 Sept. 2022 after three priests and six supakars (cooks) resigned from service demanding a pay hike.
- As a result, no rituals could be conducted in time at the shrine in the wee hours of 15 Sept. 2022 till 2 pm with the deity having to remain without any offerings till 2 pm.
- Normalcy returned to the shrine after the Endowment department hired priests from outside and conducted the rituals. The priests hired from outside finally performed rituals and made offerings at around 2 pm.
- The development has sent the chatters abuzz and sparked sharp resentment among the devotees.
- A meeting was held at the district Collectorate to discuss their d emands and seek an amicable solution. The priests and the supakars reiterated their demand for pay hike in the meeting attended by the Collector and the Sub-collector who is also the endowment officer.

5377. Major security breach: Pak ISI cells active near Sree Padmanabha Swamy Temple?
- A major security breach has been reported in the high-security zone, covering the Sree Padmanabha Swamy temple in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala State.
- On the 6th of September, two Muslim youths Mohammed Hassan and Sharukh Ali, hailing from Rampur, Uttar Pradesh were caught near the temple for a fake WhatsApp account they created using a customer’s cell number from which they had communicated with unknown persons from Pakistan.
- Hassan deleted all WhatsApp chats, an image of the Pakistan Army and a message in Urdu praising the Pakistan Army were recovered from his phone. Still, the police are trying to dilute the matter and have charged Hassan under the IT Act for tampering with a customer’s cell phone.

5378. Mukesh Ambani donates Rs 1.5 crore to Tirumala temple
- Reliance Industries chairman and managing director Mukesh Ambani on 16 Sept. 2022 donated Rs 1.5 crore to Tirumala temple.
- After offering prayers at the famous hill shrine, Mukesh Ambani presented the demand draft to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD).
- Ambani later visited TTD Goshala and appreciated the efforts by the temple body in promoting cow worship across the country.

5379. Elephant custody case: Tamil Nadu refuses to return temple elephant Joymala to Assam
- War of words erupted between Assam and Tamil Nadu after the latter refused to return the leased elephants to Assam including temple elephant Joymala.
- The Tamil Nadu government, in a reply to a PIL filed by the Assam government, told the Madras High Court that it will not return the leased elephants.
- The development came a day after the Assam government moved the Gauhati High Court following the reports of torture on elephants and sought the direction to bring back the elephants, especially temple elephant Joymala which the state had given to Tamil Nadu on lease.
- This controversy started after the animal rights group, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) released a video, claiming that Joymala was being subjected to cruelty at a temple in Tamil Nadu.
- However, the Tamil Nadu government dined these accusations.

5380. TN will not send temple elephants back to Assam, HC told
- The State on Sep15 informed the Madras High Court that it will not send back all the nine captive elephants from the various temples of Tamil Nadu to Assam, from where the elephants were originally brought to the State some 10 years ago.
- J Ravindran, Additional Advocate General made this submission before the first bench of Acting Chief Justice M Duraiswamy and Justice Sunder Mohan. The bench was hearing a petition filed by Siva Ganesan, a resident of Mayiladuthurai who sought a direction not to send the nine captive elephants from the TN temples to Assam.
- As a video of a mahout named Vinil Kumar, and his caretaker Shiva Prasath harassing an elephant named Joymala of Srivilliputhur Arulmigu Nachiar (Andal) Sametha Rangamannar Temple went viral on social media in 2020, the Assam government decided to withdraw all the nine temple elephants, including the Srivilliputhur Andal temple elephant, which it gave to TN. Therefore, the petitioner filed the plea for not returning the elephants to Assam.
