2901. Indian Army's robotic dogs perform synchronised parade on Army Day in Pune
- The Indian Army showcased robotic mules at the Army Day parade in Pune on January 15, 2025.
- These Robotic Dogs, known as Multi-Utility Legged Equipment, aim to enhance soldier safety and efficiency. The event also displayed advanced military technology. This was the first time the Army Day parade was held in Pune.
- The ARCV MULE, developed by New Delhi-based AeroArc, a subsidiary of Arc Ventures (ARCV), is designed for various tasks. These include perimeter security, asset protection, handling hazardous materials (CBRNE), bomb disposal, and intelligence gathering.
2902. India successfully conducts historic space-docking test
- On 16 january 2025 Indian space agency Isro has for the first time successfully conducted space docking by joining together two small craft in space.
- The technology is essential for the country's future ambition to build an Indian space station and put a person on the Moon. , the space agency announced that it had created history by becoming only the fourth country in the world with such technology after United States, Russia and China.
- The two spacecraft on SpaDeX (short for Space Docking Experiment) are called SDX01 or the Chaser and SDX02 or the Target. Each weigh about 220kg (485lbs) and since their launch, they were travelling in space at a carefully.

2903. Successful trials of micro-missile counter-drone system ‘Bhargavastra’
- India has successfully tested its first domestically developed micro-missile system, engineered to counter swarm drone threats.
- As part of the ‘Bhargavastra’ counter-drone system, the Solar Group has successfully test-fired the guided micro-missiles on January 12, 2025. The testing included two successful firings at the Gopalpur Seaward Firing Ranges this week.
- The ‘Bhargavastra’ system, based on micro-missile, is specially developed to tackle growing threats from loitering munitions and weaponised drones.
- On January 12, 2025. the first control trial of ‘Bhargavastra’ was held against a stationary target in the air at a distance of 2,500 meters and 400 meters in height.
2904. PM Modi commissions INS Surat, INS Nilgiri and INS Vaghsheer
- PM Modi on January 15, 2025 dedicated three frontline naval combatants to the nation on their commissioning. The naval combatants – INS Surat, INS Nilgiri and INS Vaghsheer --were commissioned at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai.
- INS Surat, the fourth and final ship of the P15B Guided Missile Destroyer Project, ranks among the largest and most sophisticated destroyers in the world.

2906. Mahakumbh 2025: Rs 5000 cr investment! Indian Railways running 13000 trains, 550+ ticket counters and more
- The Indian Railways has invested Rs 5000 crore over the past three years for Kumbh-related projects. The Railways have undertaken multiple initiatives to ensure a safe, efficient, and technology-driven experience for millions of pilgrims during Maha Kumbh 2025.
- For passenger convenience, the national transporter is operating 13000 trains during the Kumbh period. Of these, 10000 are regular trains and 3134 are Special trains (about 4.5 times more than the previous Kumbh Mela).
- With an investment of Rs 3700 crore, the national transporter has developed two major infrastructure projects -- the Banaras-Prayagraj doubling project (including the Ganga Bridge), and the Phaphamau-Janghai doubling project.
2907. India’s overseas FDI surges 51% MoM in December to $4.26 billion: RBI data
- India’s outward foreign direct investment (FDI) commitments surged to $4.26 billion in December 2024, up 51% month-on-month and 64% on-year, driven by stronger equity and guarantee issuances.
- Equity commitments surged to $1.4 billion in December 2024, a 48% rise from $946.79 million in November 2024 and 65% higher than $850.56 million in December 2023.
- Guarantees issued climbed to $2.02 billion in December 2024, a threefold increase from $641.4 million in November 2024 and nearly doubling from $1.03 billion a year earlier.
2908. Bengaluru-based Pixxel and Digantara launch satellites aboard SpaceX's Transporter-12
- Bengaluru-based startups Pixxel and Digantara on January 15, 2025 launched satellites aboard SpaceX’s Transporter-12 rideshare mission from Vandenberg Space Force Base, California.
- Digantara’s SCOT, deployed in the sun-synchronous orbit, will track Resident Space Objects (RSOs) as small as 5 cm in Low Earth Orbit, addressing growing concerns over space safety and debris management.
- The Digantara, going forward, aims to establish a hybrid network of surveillance systems, delivering persistent monitoring of near-Earth environment.
2909. In A First, Indian Startup Pixxel Launches Firefly Satellites With Elon Musk's SpaceX
- In a first, Indian startup startup Pixxel launched three of the world's highest-resolution commercial hyperspectral satellites from the Vandenberg Space Force Base in California on January 15. 2025.
- The satellites, also called the firefly constellation, were integrated via Exolaunch and launched aboard the Transporter-12 rideshare mission with SpaceX at around 1 am on January 15. 2025.
- The Bengaluru-based startup, Pixxel, also organised a live screening of the launch at its headquarters in the city. The company will now be able to deliver more precise critical climate and Earth insights, founder and CEO Awais Ahmed.
2910. Net direct tax collections surge 16% to ₹16.90 lakh crore in FY25
- On January 15, 2025, India’s net direct tax collections recorded a robust 15.88% jump to ₹16.90 lakh crore during April 1, 2024–January 12, 2025, compared to the same period of the previous financial year, according to the latest figures compiled by the Income Tax Department.
- The gross direct tax collections, before refunds, increased by 19.94% to ₹20.64 lakh crore during this period, compared to ₹17.21 lakh crore in the corresponding period of the 2024.
- Personal income tax collections surged 21.6% to ₹8.74 lakh crore, compared to ₹7.2 lakh crore in the previous year, while corporate tax collections rose by 8.12% to ₹7.7 lakh crore from ₹7.10 lakh crore in the same period of 2023–24.
