2924. India Introduces 2 Special Category Visas For International Students, Check Details
- The Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, has introduced two special category visas-'e-student visa' and 'e-student-x visa'-for international students considering higher education at educational institutions in the country.
- Foreign students registered on the Study in India (SII) portal can now apply for an e-student visa, while dependents of these students are eligible for an e-student-x visa, officials have announced.
- The SII programme, led by India's Ministry of Education, includes over 600 partner institutes offering more than 8,000 courses across disciplines such as engineering, management, sciences, arts, and specialised fields like Yoga and Buddhist Studies.
2925. India sees post-COVID surge in foreign tourists
- An analysis conducted by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) revealed that the number of international travelers to India post-COVID has gone up to nearly one crore (2023-24).
- According to the MHA data the post-pandemic period saw a marked recovery in India’s foreign tourism sector with a period between April 1, 2023 and March 31, 2024 the country recorded 9,840,321 foreign tourist arrivals.
- Though foreign tourist traffic has significantly recovered, it still has not yet reached pre-COVID highs of the 2018-2019 levels.

- India has achieved a remarkable milestone in its economic journey, with gross foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows reaching an impressive USD 1 trillion since April 2000.
- A nearly 26 per cent rise in FDI to USD 42.1 billion during the first half of the current fiscal year 2024-25 helped India's gross FDI inflows reach an impressive USD 1 trillion mark.
- Over the last decade (April 2014 to September 2024), total FDI inflows amounted to USD 709.84 billion, accounting for 68.69 per cent of the overall FDI inflow in the past 24 years.

2927. Indian real estate records all-time high foreign investment of USD 11.4 bn in 2024
- Total equity investment in Indian real estate recorded an all-time high of USD 11.4 bn in 2024, up 54 per cent (YoY) according to a report 'Market Monitor Q4 2024 - Investments' by real estate consultancy firm CBRE.
- Singapore, the US, and Canada dominated foreign equity investments in the Indian real estate market in CY 2024. These three countries cumulatively contributed over 25 per cent of the total equity investments in the country's real estate in 2024.
- Developers led the way in capital inflows, capturing 44 per cent of the total equity investments in 2024, followed by institutional players at 36 per cent, corporations at 11 per cent, REITs at 4 per cent, and other categories comprising 5 per cent.

- India has achieved a historic milestone by receiving $129.1 billion in remittances in 2024, marking the highest-ever remittance inflow for any country in a single year.
- According to a recent blog by the World Bank, India accounted for 14.3 per cent of global remittances in 2024, the highest share recorded for any country since 2000.
- India’s remittance share has remained consistently above 10 per cent since 2000, with significant growth in the post-pandemic years. India’s share in global remittances in 2024 was nearly double that of Mexico (7.5 per cent).

- The event took place at HAL’s Bengaluru headquarters, showcasing the synergy between various R&D centers of HAL, including the Aircraft Research & Design Centre (ARDC) and other indigenous components
