51. Orchid Pharma partners with Cipla for distribution of new antibiotics across India
- Orchid Pharma has partnered with Cipla to launch and distribute Cefepime-Enmetazobactam in India, approved for treating complicated urinary tract infections, HAP, and VAP.
- The partnership combines Orchid's innovative drug development capabilities with Cipla's extensive distribution network and market presence. This collaboration aims to ensure that this life-saving medication reaches healthcare providers across India as quickly and efficiently, the company said.
- Cipla's CEO, Umang Vohra, emphasized the urgent need for novel anti-infectives to effectively treat multidrug resistant (MDR) infections due to the increasing incidence of potentially life-threatening infections.

52. Centre Approves ₹ 700 Crore To Set Up Institutes Of Pharma, Medical Technology
- The Central government has earmarked ₹ 700 crore to set up centres of excellence at the National Institutes of Pharmaceutical, Education & Research (NIPER) over the next five years to boost pharma and medical technology in the country.
- Of the ₹ 700 crore, a sum of ₹ 243 crore has been approved for 2024-25, according to a notice issued by the Department of Pharmaceuticals (DoP), under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers.
- The research will encompass various fields such as medical device manufacturing, bulk drug R&D, phytopharmaceuticals, biological therapeutics, and antiviral and antibacterial drug discovery and development.
- The DoP requested ₹ 1,286 crore for FY24, with 560 crore for NIPERs and remaining for new initiatives under the NIPER scheme, including NIMERs, Centres of Excellence, ICPMR, and Promotion of Research & Innovation.

53. PSLV-C47/Cartosat-3 mission: Isro successfully places remote sensing satellite, 13 US nanosatellites in orbits
- Isro successfully launched Cartosat-3 on PSLV-C47, adding one more satellite to its constellation of remote sensing satellites for improved earth mapping accuracy since 2005.
- Along with Cartosat, PSLV, in its 49th flight, also placed 13 nanosatellites from the US in their orbits. With this, Isro has launched a total of 310 foreign satellites.
- PSLV-C47 launched Cartosat-3 and nanosatellites from Sriharikota's second launch pad, placing them in polar sun synchronous orbit and the nanosatellites in their respective orbits.
- Cartosat-3, the ninth in the Cartosat series, is the first of the third-generation agile advanced earth observation satellites having high resolution imaging capability.

54. PSLV-C48/RISAT-2BR1 mission: Isro begins countdown
- The launch of PSLV-C48, carrying RISAT-2BR1 and nine foreign satellites, is scheduled for 3.25pm on December 11, 2019 from the first launch pad at Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota.
- The 50th PSLV flight and 75th Sriharikota spaceport mission will feature a 'QL' variant rocket with four strap-on boosters.
- The RISAT-2BR1 satellite, a radar earth observation satellite with 0.35m resolution, will be accompanied by nine satellites from the US, Japan, Israel, and Italy.

55. ISRO successfully launches Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle C49
- India's Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle successfully launched the Earth Observation Satellite and nine foreign satellites into their designated orbits in its first launch this year 2020.
- The ISRO Telemetry Tracking and Command Network in Bengaluru has successfully deployed the two solar arrays of EOS-01, which will be brought to its final operational configuration soon.
- The international satellites — one from Lithuania, four each from Luxembourg and the USA – were launched under commercial agreement with NewSpace India Limited (NSIL), department of space.
- This was the 51st launch of the PSLV, the 76th launch vehicle mission from the SDSC and the 38th launch from the first launch pad at SHAR.

57. ENGIE Signs PPA for 200 MW Solar PV Project With GUVNL
- ENGIE, a leader in low-carbon energy solutions, has announced the signing of Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for a 200 MW Solar Photovoltaic (PV) project. The 200 MW Solar PV project marks ENGIE’s fourth solar project in the state of Gujarat.
- The project is part of Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited’s (GUVNL) larger project encompassing 1,125 MW grid-connected Solar PV power projects, to be established within the Gujarat State Electricity Corporation’s Renewable Energy Park situated at Khavda, Gujarat.
- ENGIE expands Gujarat's renewable energy capacity to 830 MW, bolstering its position in the state's renewable energy landscape, with 19 projects strategically located across India.
- GUVNL is preparing for a 36,000 MW increase in power demand due to industrialization and increased consumption in retail and residential sectors. The state is expected to remain among the top three in renewable energy additions.

58. Central zone installs first-ever floating solar plant of Indian Railways
- The Central Railway has installed a floating solar plant of 10 MWp capacity in the Igatpuri lake located in the Western Ghats, a first-of-its-kind initiative by the Indian Railways, senior officials said.
- According to the Central Railway officials, the plant is committed to leveraging renewable energy sources, utilising solar power, installing wind-energy resources, providing adequate passenger amenities and contributing significantly towards the railways' goal of a "green Earth".
- Central Railway has commissioned 12.05-MWp solar plants on rooftops of stations and buildings, with 4-MWp plants provided last year to achieve zero carbon emissions by 2030.
- According to the Central Railway, agreements have been signed for the utilisation of 325 MW of solar and wind energy, which will be on the "round-the-clock" basis.

59. Hygenco and Ameropa partner to boost Green Ammonia supply from India
- Hygenco Green Energies and Ameropa have signed a Term Sheet for green ammonia supply from their upcoming plant in India, aiming to boost India's green ammonia exports.
- Hygenco plans to produce green ammonia at Gopalpur port in Odisha, with the first phase expected to produce 600 tonnes per day by 2027.
- The project aims to reach a full production capacity of 1.1 MTPA of green ammonia by 2030, with the second phase doubling capacity to 1200 TPD by early 2028.
- Hygenco, an Indian company, operates a commercial green hydrogen plant and plans to invest $2.5 billion in green hydrogen and ammonia projects over the next three years.

60. Indian Railways clocks impressive growth in track renewal: 13.8% increase seen in FY 2023-24 from year ago
- The Indian Railways has registered an impressive growth in track renewal with a 13.8% increase in FY 2023-24 in comparison to the previous year 2022-23, said the Ministry of Railways.
- The railways renewed 5,227 track kilometers (TKM) in the FY 2022-2023 and 5,950 track TKM in the FY 2023-2024, according to the ministry.
- Indian Railways manages the fourth-largest national railway system in 2023, covering 104,647 km of running track and 68,426 km of route, with 60,451 km electrified.
- Indian Railways has completed 61% of electrification works in northeastern India, becoming the ninth-largest employer globally and the second-largest in India, with over 1.2 million employees.
