71. Construction work for India’s first Gorilla glass manufacturing unit commences
- Bharat Innovative Glass Technologies (BIG Tech) held a ground-breaking ceremony for the country's first facility to produce high-quality cover-glass parts for mobile consumer electronics.
- The unit of American gorilla glass maker Corning and Optiemus Infracom Limited, India’s leading telecommunications and manufacturing enterprise, is coming up in SIPCOT industrial park in Kancheepuram.

72. Ex-US ambassador-backed firm Terra plans big investment in Indian AI startups with $2.5-billion fund
- Terra Invest, a new investment firm backed by former US ambassador to Singapore Kirk Wagar, aims to invest a significant portion of its $2.5-billion fund into Indian artificial intelligence (AI) startups by 2025.
- Operating on a deal-based model, the firm has already completed transactions worth over $230 million.

73. Economic growth momentum stays the course to reach 7.5% in FY25: NCAER
- The Indian economy kept up its growth momentum in the first quarter of the current fiscal, the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) said in a report on June 26, 2024.
- Fitch Ratings and the Reserve Bank of India have revised India's FY25 growth forecast to 7.2%, indicating a higher-than-expected economic performance.
- NCAER anticipates easing rates later in the year, boosting growth. Monetary Policy Committee holds policy rate at 6.5% for eighth consecutive month. Inflation drops to 4.75% in May, 2024.

74. TN allocates Rs 100 crore to turn tribal villages into self-sufficient habitats
- The Adi Dravidar Welfare Department would take up works at Rs 100 crore to fulfill basic amenities in tribal villages in the state to turn them into self-sufficient habitations and build 4,500 houses for homeless tribal families at Rs 70 crore to improve their standard of living.
- The department would lay approach roads to tribal villages and hamlets in remote areas and hilly terrains at Rs 50 to facilitate the tribals to traverse without difficulties and enjoy the facilities in the plains.
- To encourage entrepreneurship and livelihood of the tribals, the department would spruce up the TAHDCO industrial estate in Tirupur and Erode district and the works would be taken up at Rs 50 crore.
- The development plan for SC/ST and other schemes designed and implemented for welfare of Adi Dravidar and tribals would be digitalised to monitor. Rs 1.50 crore has been allotted.

75. Nicobar triangle: on the ₹72,000-crore project on Great Nicobar Island
- The Union Tribal Affairs Ministry looking into the forest clearance paperwork of the ₹72,000-crore infrastructure project on Great Nicobar Island, a major initiative of the central government.
- The significant step for the government, in its third term, as it brings to the surface the contentious and difficult choices that governments face while addressing the trilemma of infrastructure development, preserving pristine biodiversity respect and, being sensitive to the rights of the indigenous inhabitants, and tribals.

76. T.N. govt. announces schemes to enable SC/ST women to buy land
- Minister for Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare N. Kayalvizhi Selvaraj, on 25 June 2024 announced in the Assembly that ₹20 crore would be set aside to enable landless SC/ST women who work as agricultural labourers to buy land.
- Each eligible candidate can obtain a maximum subsidy of ₹5 lakh or 50% of the land value and another ₹70 crore will be used to build 4,500 housing units for tribal communities who currently do not own housing. Approach roads for tribal neighbourhoods will be built at a cost of ₹50 crore.
- Hostels with modern facilities would be built in Sivaganga, Erode, Virudhunagar and Cuddalore districts for students from Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities at a cost of ₹15 crore.
- A centralised kitchen would be set up at a cost of ₹9 crore under ‘Amudha Surabi’ scheme in Tiruchi, Madurai and Coimbatore that would benefit around 3,000 students.

77. UAE, India foreign ministers discuss strengthening strategic relations
- Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdullah and Indian External Affairs Minister explored the two countries' efforts to strengthen joint cooperation in all sectors, including economic, trade, investment, education, culture, health, food security, renewable energy, and climate change.
- Sheikh Abdullah stressed that the UAE and India share a strong and strategic partnership, marked by growing momentum in bilateral cooperation. The collaboration, is aimed at achieving comprehensive development and ensuring sustainable economic prosperity for both nations and their citizens.

78. AMPIN Energy Transition to set up 246 MW wind-solar hybrid project with Rs 1,300 cr investment, says CEO and MD
- AMPIN Energy Transition plans to set up its recently won 246-MW wind-solar hybrid capacity project with an investment of Rs 1,300 crore.
- The company has completed its fourth hybrid project with SECI, increasing its hybrid utility portfolio to 1.75 GW out of a total of 2.8 GW.
- The project will be designed for interconnection to the ISTS network, with a contracted capacity of 150 MW and would require installation of over 246 MW wind and solar capacity.

79. Adani to invest Rs 2 lakh crore in renewable energy capacity addition by 2030
- Adani group plans to invest Rs 2 lakh crore by 2030 to build 40 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity, aiming for net zero emissions across businesses by 2050.
- The apple-to-airport conglomerate currently has over 10 GW of capacity to generate electricity from renewable sources like sunlight and wind energy and is looking to add 6-7 GW every year to reach 50 GW by 2030.
- AGEL added 2.8 GW capacity in the 2023-2024 (April 2023 to March 2024) fiscal, which was 15 per cent of India's total renewable energy capacity addition.
- India is the world's third-largest economy in terms of energy needs, and its energy demand is projected to surge 25-35 per cent by 2030. Its peak energy demand is estimated to be 366.4 GW by 2031-32.

80. SunSource Energy commissions 45 MW DC of C&I solar in Uttar Pradesh
- SunSource Energy, a subsidiary of Dutch multinational SHV Energy, has completed commissioning three open-access solar power plants in Uttar Pradesh, with a total capacity of 45 MWp.
- Together these three projects are expected to generate 1.5 million megawatt-hours (MWh) of solar energy and offset up to 1.4 million tonne of CO2 emissions during their technical lifetime.
- With this, SunSource Energy now has six operational open access projects in the state with four more in the pipeline. SunSource Energy’s total operational capacity is now close to 100 MWDC in Uttar Pradesh.
