20211. Microsoft to set up India's largest datacenter region in Hyderabad
- Tech giant Microsoft announced that the company will be setting up its fourth data centre in Hyderabad, Telangana.
- Microsoft datacenter regions in India contributed an additional USD 9.5 billion of accumulated net-new revenue to the economy, over 5 years (2016-2020).
- Telangana is emerging as a 'Challenger' in the IT sector with its software exports registering an increase of 7 percent YoY to reach Rs 5 trillion (USD 67.4 billion) in FY21 from Rs 4.66 trillion (USD 62.82 billion) in FY20.
20212. Jute Exports Crossed Rs 3000 Crore per annum, says MC Chakraborty, The Jute Commissioner of India
- the export of jute goods has crossed more than Rs. 3000/- crores per annum, which is a good sign for the farmers and the exporters.
- A reduced number of grades will facilitate realistic price fixation which helps the producer to obtain a proper price for jute fib

20213. Export of coconuts and related products likely to touch record high on activated carbon shipments
- India’s coconut and product exports have displayed a record performance in the first eight months of the current fiscal, fetching a revenue of ₹2,310 crore despite the Covid pandemic.
- The shipment of this product during the period ending December was over one lakh tonnes at a value of ₹1,499 crore.
- Copra shipment was 7,986 tonnes for a value of ₹91 crore. The price parity of Indian copra vis-a-vis global rates has facilitated industrial coconut oil manufacturers to increase their sourcing from the domestic market.

20214. Centre’s efforts to boost agri exports bearing fruit
- The export of rice was the top forex earner at $ 7696 million during April-January 2021-22, growing 13 percent over the corresponding period in 2020-21 when it touched $ 6,793 million.
- The export of products under the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) ambit increased from $ 15,974 million in April-January 2020-21 to $19,709 million during the period.
- The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has fixed the target for exports under APEDA basket products at USD 23,713 million in 2021-22.

20215. Defence exports in focus as India speeds up approvals
- India’s defence exports have recorded nearly a six-fold increase between 2017 and 2021, growing from ₹1,520 crore to ₹8,435 crore
- The defence ministry issued 954 export authorisations for different weapons and sub-systems in 2021, compared to 829 in 2020, 668 in 2019, 288 in 2018 and 254 in 2017,
- India’s BrahMos Aerospace and the Philippines signed a deal worth almost $375 million for the Philippine Marines to acquire three batteries of the BrahMos cruise missile, a shot in the arm for New Delhi’s efforts to emerge as an exporter of major defence hardware.

20216. Sugar exports likely to touch record high 7.5 MT in 2021-22
- Indian sugar exports could touch a record high of 7.5 million tonnes (MT) in the current marketing year 2021-22 as against the estimated 6 MT. However, traders and exporters do not expect substantial increase in domestic sugar prices.
- Indian Sugar Mills Association (ISMA) also said that the country has physically exported 4.2 MT of sugar till February of the current marketing year, against the export contracts already undertaken for shipment of 6 million tonnes. Another 12-13 MT of sugar are expected to be exported in March 2022.
- The recent ISO report indicating a global deficit of around 1.93 MT for 2021-22 SS (October - September) and interest of exporters to buy more Indian sugar.

20217. Pune Metro: Made In India And Country’s Lightest, Here Are Some Of Its Unique Features
- Pune Metro coaches are indigenously manufactured under Make in India policy of the union government. Indigenous components of the coaches are over 70 per cent.
- Built with aluminum body, Pune Metro coaches are 6.5 per cent lighter than the conventional stainless-steel coaches.
- Pune Metro has transplanted 2,267 trees falling on alignment by innovative root ball technology.
20218. GUWAHATI SMART CITY: GSCL to start 17 projects in March.
- Guwahati Smart City Ltd (GSCL) has geared up to start 17 projects in the metropolitan city costing Rs 843.63 crore from this month. GSCL is facing public ire for its inordinate delay in project implementation. GSCL claims to have completed seven of its 24 projects. The estimated cost of the 24 projects is Rs 1011.73 crore.
- The biggest of the 24 projects is the development of the Brahmaputra river from Kacharighat to the new DC Bungalow at Uzan Bazar. The estimated cost of this project is Rs 330 crore. The technical evaluation of the bids for this project is complete.
- The second-biggest project is ITMS (Integrated Traffic Management System) with an estimated cost of Rs 119.50 crore. The technical evaluation of the bids of this project is also over. "The bids for purchasing a fleet of 200 electric buses costing Rs 207 crore and a fleet of 100 AC CNG buses costing Rs 44 crore are under technical evaluation.

20219. Edutech organisation in Tiruchy work towards creating technopreneurs, young scientists
- STEM (Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education is one of the fastest developing, and in-demand lines. Propel.study, an e learning platform from Tiruchy, and a parallel of Propeller Technologies (EduTech Company) is focusing on STEM education.
- The platform provides courses like artificial intelligence, app development, space technology, the internet of things, satellite, robotronics, etc. Each course is anywhere between 21-30 days.
- To make the course available for more students, especially government school students, the space technology course has been offered for free. More than 25,000 students across the country did the space technology course so far, and 20,000 more have registered.

20220. Defence manufacturing in Gujarat gets shot in the arm
- Gujarat already has a few manufacturers and startups supplying a range of technology products to defence manufacturers, the Indian Army, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and others.
- The state has thus far received Rs 292 crore investment in direct defence manufacturing with companies such as Larsen and Toubro, Jaivel Aerospace, Unique Forge (Gujarat) and Pushpak Aerospace operating here.
- It is also home to at least 100 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) that supply components and parts to aerospace and defence original equipment manufacturers (OEMs)
