19951. India sugar exports seen rising to 7.5 mln T in 2021/22
- Indian sugar exports are seen climbing to 7.5 million tonnes in the 2021/22 season, up from the prior season’s 7.1 million,
- india have signed contracts for 6.3 million tonnes in the current season already and contracts are getting signed pretty fast in India every week,
- Indian sugar production was expected to climb to 33.3 million tonnes in the 2021/22 season, up from the prior season’s 31.2 million.

19952. India-UAE trade pact: Bilateral trade projected to touch $100-bn in 5 years
- India and UAE signed a comprehensive trade and economic pact that is expected to boost Indian gems, textiles, leather and sports sectors
- in a major boost for pharma companies, UAE has agreed to allow market access for medicines from Indian companies within 90 days of approval in the US and UK.
- UAE has offered immediate market access at zero duty from day one of the entry into force of the agreement to products accounting for around 90% of India’s exports to the UAE in value terms. Overall, India will benefit from preferential market access provided by the UAE on over 97% of its tariff lines which account for around 99% of Indian exports to the UAE in value terms

19953. Lenovo will double R&D in India in three years; export Motorola phones from Noida plant
- Lenovo is doubling its R&D investments over the next three years to ensure the devices manufacturer rolls out products that adapt to the requirements of the New Normal, where cloud-enabled digital services and solutions are being delivered over electronic devices,

19954. Tata Motors to invest Rs 15,000 cr in EV segment in 5 yrs; plans to develop 10 new products
- Tata Motors is planning to invest Rs 15,000 crore in the EV segment in the next five years
- The company had raised USD 1 billion in funding from private equity major TPG in its EV division, valuing the business at USD 9.1 billion.

19956. PLI for auto attracts Rs 75,000 cr, 75% more than government’s target; Maruti Suzuki, Tata, Hero approved
- A total of 95 companies including the likes of Maruti Suzuki, Hero MotoCorp, Ashok Leyland, Bajaj Auto, and Bosch have committed to invest Rs 74,850 crore to manufacture automobiles and components under PLI (Production Linked Incentives) scheme.
- The investments proposed over a period of five years is 75% more than the government’s target estimate, the Ministry of Heavy Industries said
- Under the scheme, the approved companies will receive financial incentives upto 18% from the government when they manufacture in India.
19957. Tata Power DDL, Battery Smart Partner To Setup Battery Swapping Stations
- Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (DDL) announced a partnership with Battery Smart to set up Swap Stations for two and three-wheelers at various locations across North Delhi in 2022
- The first swap station is live and operational at Azadpur, one of the busiest marketplaces in the capital.
- Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited’s large power capacity and extensive infrastructure will allow Battery Smart to establish more high-capacity swap stations at key locations to cater to the growing electric two and three-wheeler market.
19958. India sends fourth consignment of 2,000 metric tonnes of wheat to Afghanistan
- The fourth consignment of 2,000 metric tonnes of wheat is being dispatched for Afghanistan via the Attari-Wagah border

- The first consignment of humanitarian aid of 2,500 tonnes of wheat from India reached Afghanistan's Jalalabad through Pakistan on 26 February.

19959. Collaboration with Maruti helps Toyota get new customers
- In a little under three years since Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) launched the Glanza — the rebadged version of Maruti Suzuki’s Baleno and the first model exchanged under the global collaboration between Toyota Motor and Suzuki Motor — the carmaker has sold 66,020 units of the premium hatchback.
- Of these 66,020 customers, 66% (about 43,600) are first-time Toyota buyers.
- TKM launched the second generation of the Glanza (based on the second generation Baleno launched on February 23), priced `6.39 lakh onwards (ex-showroom).
19960. India's first RRTS railway unveiled with world class features, 3x faster than metro
- The Indian government is taking a step forward to upgrade the Indian Railways system. In that direction, the government has introduced the country's first RRTS railway. The step seems even more significant after the introduction of Kawach technology and the new Vande Bharat Trains.
- The new RRTS railway is a completely new design of train designed to provide a good travelling experience for the passengers. Phase 1 of manufacturing of the train started back in 2021 and is now closing the testing and trial phase to be done by the end of this year.
- The six coaches of the train will have 407 seats in total. The train is capable of accommodating 1500 passengers at once. It is to be noted that the train has been designed to have a setting resembling the one on an aircraft.
