19941. J-K: Army opens computer centre, nursing home at Kupwara
- General officer Commanding (GoC) of Srinagar-based 15 Corps Lieutenant General D P Pandey, inaugurated Computer Centre and Nursing Home at Kupwara in North Kashmir.
- He also interacted with students and locals of the area. The officer said that there is an atmosphere of peace prevailing in the entire Kashmir and the security grid is fully prepared to deal with any situation.
- The officer also praised the people of Kunan-Poshpora village for empowering their daughters by educating them.
- The local students lauded this step taken by the Indian army. They said “Earlier, we had to travel to Srinagar for the training, we are thankful to the army and the government for providing us with these centres.”
19942. Youth engagement programme held at GDC Pulwama
- District Employment and Counselling Centre, Pulwama Organized a day long Youth Engagement and outreach programme at government Degree College for Boys in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district
- The Programme was organized under the aegis of youth Volunteer Programme of Mission Youth, J&K. Members of Youth Clubs of Block Pulwama, Kakapora and Newa along with frontline workers Participated in the day long Programme.
- Apart from awareness regarding employment generation schemes of government, psycho social counselling and cultural programmes also formed part of the event. Experts from IMHANS talked about drug de-addiction strategies whereas performance by participants from Govt.
19943. Setting up of JK Industrial Development Corporation
- In order to centralise functions related to developing industries especially micro units, small and medium sized enterprises, helping in professional entrepreneurship and skill development and to do away with multiple policies pursued by State Industrial Development Corporation (SIDCO) and Small Scale Industrial Development Corporation (SICOP) with special emphasis on providing varied financial assistance to entrepreneurs, establishing a single institution of Jammu and Kashmir Industrial Development Corporation (JKIDC).
- More industrial estates and opportunities of investments on attractive terms could be better handled by JKIDC which can prove to be an effective one fountainhead of monitoring and implementing government’s policies and schemes for a better industrial scenario
- No status-quo approach, better marketing opportunities, more of research, surveys and potential for industries can be pursued in close co-operation with and directions from the government by the JKIDC.

19944. '30 sports infrastructure projects worth Rs 273 cr sanctioned in J&K’
- Under the “Enhancement of Sports Facilities at J&K” (PMDP) programme of the Government, 30 sports infrastructure projects, as well as sports equipment, have been sanctioned in the Himalayan UTs of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh amounting to Rs 273.85 crore.
- Touching on the subject of rural sports in the country, Thakur said ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat Programme’ is specifically designed for it.
- The ministry has provided financial assistance to the concerned National Sports Federations for conducting competitive events in Mallakhamb, Mitti Dangal (freestyle wrestling), tug of war, etc.
19945. AC approves land for Medicity, other projects
- The Administrative Council approved the proposal of Revenue Department to transfer various parcels of land for public purposes.
- The Administrative Council approved the transfer of land measuring 144 Kanal & 12 Marla in Hiranagar, district Kathua in favour of Youth Services and Sports Department, J&K for construction of Arun Jaitley Memorial Sports Complex.
- The decision aims to provide quality sporting infrastructure for games like Cricket, Hockey, Football, Wrestling and Athletics and bring Kathua and Samba Districts on the sporting map of India.
- The Sports Complex will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 58.23 crore and provide avenues to the local sportspersons to excel in their respective disciplines.
19946. Starting with 8 weaving machines to becoming a Rs 1,300 Cr turnover textile company: The story of Sangam India
- In the early 80s, the textile industry was becoming a lucrative space for budding entrepreneurs. The policy reforms materialising in India eradicated entry barriers for many to create various Indian companies, especially in the spinning sector.
- NSE-listed textile company Sangam India was founded in 1984. Starting with eight weaving machines, the company now boasts over two lakh spindles and 3,000 rotors to produce PV and denim fabric.
- Starting with eight weaving machines, Bhilwara-based Sangam India is now recognised as one of the leading companies in the textile industry, making an annual turnover of Rs 1,363 crore.
19947. MD JKPCC Inspects Development Works In Baramulla District; Issues Strict On Spot Directions
- MD of Jammu and Kashmir Project Construction Company (JKPCC) Limited, today on 16th March inspected various ongoing development projects being executed in Baramulla during his extensive tour to the district.
- MD, while taking stock of work on Julla Bridge at Uri being constructed with an estimated cost of Rs. 735.91 lakh under Languishing project scheme, was informed that the sub-structure of the bridge has been completed. He directed the concerned officer to ensure remaining work on the project is completed within the set timeline.
- He inspected construction work on Jetty Bridge which is being raised by JKPCC with an estimated cost of Rs. 2984.12 lakh under Languishing project scheme. He issued on spot directions to General Manager and Deputy General Manager to sort out the issues hampering execution of the project so that the bridge is completed at the earliest.
- MD, during his inspection to Degree College Boniyar being executed with an estimated cost of Rs. 1392.00 lakh, asked for expediting the pace of progress on the work for timely completion. He also inspected construction of Tourist Reception Center at Salamabad Uri which is being established with an estimated cost of Rs. 863.00 lakh under Swadesh Darshan programme.

- हैदराबाद के डॉ. प्रकाश का घर, एक ओपन हाउस है, जहां हर ज़रूरतमंद जाकर अपने लिए खुद खाना बना और खा सकता है, आराम कर सकता है और किताबें पढ़ सकता है।
- साल 1986 और 1999 के बीच, डॉ प्रकाश ने एमबीबीएस और स्वास्थ्य प्रशासन में मास्टर डिग्री हासिल की। बाद में, उन्होंने नौ साल तक विभिन्न गैर सरकारी संगठनों के साथ काम करते हुए सामाजिक कार्यों में कदम रखा। लेकिन वह जो कर रहे थे उससे संतुष्ट नहीं थे।
- प्रकाश कहते हैं, “कुछ एनजीओ धर्म या प्रसिद्ध हस्तियों के नाम से चलते हैं। मैं अपने आस-पास इस तरह की प्रथाओं से असहज महसूस करता था। फिर 1999 में, डॉ प्रकाश ने अपनी नौकरी छोड़ दी और अपने दो मंजिला घर में एक एनजीओ शुरू किया। वह कहते हैं,”मैं यह दिखाना चाहता था कि धार्मिक कार्ड या कॉर्पोरेट धन का उपयोग किए बिना भी समाज सेवा की जा सकती है।
- आज प्रकाश, अपने ‘अंदरी इल्लु (Andari Illu Hyderabad)’ यानी ओपन हाउस में बर्तन व चूल्हे से लेकर राशन तक सब कुछ मुहैया कराते हैं, ताकि लोग अपना खाना खुद बना सकें और खा सकें। यह ओपन हाउस कोविड महामारी के दौरान भी खुला हुआ था। डॉ. प्रकाश का कहना है कि इससे अब तक करीब 1 लाख लोगों को फायदा हो चुका है।
19949. J&K gets investment proposals worth Rs 45000 crore
- The administration of Jammu & Kashmir has informed a parliamentary panel that it has received investment proposals worth Rs 45411 crore.
- The parliamentary panel on the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has revealed that it was apprised by the administration of J&K UT that it has received 4187 applications for allotment of land as of January 31, 2022 with a proposed investment of Rs 45411 crore.
- According to the report, the administration has informed the panel that it has received 990 online applications in the Jammu division for the allotment of land, with a proposed investment of Rs 24727 crores.
- The panel, as per the report, was informed that it has received 3197 online applications for land allotment in Kashmir Valley with proposed investment of Rs 20684 crore.

19950. IPhone 13 production to start in India next month as Foxconn probation ends
- Apple is going to start making the iPhone 13 in India next month.
- Apple has onshored more manufacturing in India to avoid heavy import tariffs, saving more than 20% on the price of its products as a result.
- Seven months after it was launched in India, Apple is expected to start manufacturing the iPhone 13 at the Foxconn plant in Sriperumbudur near Chennai from April, according to sources. The phones will be for both the domestic and export market
