2771. India’s Military Might On Display: Indigenous Weapons & Pralay Missile Unveiled

- The T-90 Bhishma main battle tank, NAG missile systems, BrahMos supersonic cruise missile, Pinaka multi-launch rocket system, and BM-21 Agnibaan multi-barrel rocket launcher. 2772. In a first, joint tri-services tableau displayed during R-Day celebrations
- on 26 january 2025 the first time, a tri-services — Indian Army, Indian Air Force and Indian Navy — tableau symbolising the unity of the armed forces was presented during the 76th Republic Day celebrations at Kartavya Path on Sunday, showcasing the nation’s military strength.
- the theme “Shashakt aur Surakshit Bharat” (Strong and Secure India), the tableau depicted a battlefield scenario demonstrating synchronised land, water, and air operations. It featured indigenous defence assets such as the Arjun main battle tank, Tejas MKII fighter aircraft, Advanced Light Helicopter, destroyer INS Visakhapatnam, and a remotely-piloted aircraft.

2773. Maharashtra to launch India’s first AI University
- Maharashtra’s minister of Information and Technology Ashish Shelar on January 24, 2025 declared that Maharashtra will become the first state in India to establish an Artificial Intelligence University.
- Shelar said, “This will be the state government’s landmark project that will be executed in collaboration with the department of Higher and Technical Education.
- The state government is also preparing to roll out the nation’s first state-level AI and Cyber Policy for which a dedicated taskforce has been established.
2774. India’s first, largest drone city to come up in Kurnool district
- Andhra Pradesh is gearing up to lead the nation in drone manufacturing by establishing India’s first and largest drone city in Orvakal, Kurnool district.
- Spread across a vast 300-acre site, the drone city aims to position Andhra Pradesh as the country’s drone capital. For the Drone City, land acquisition has been completed and development work will commence soon.
- The project is expected to generate around 40,000 jobs and will include the world’s largest common drone testing facility.
2775. India's first hydrogen trucks by Tata to hit the road this quarter
- Tata Motors -- in collaboration with Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) -- will roll out trucks powered by hydrogen internal combustion engines on a pilot basis this quarter, leading the way for the use of green hydrogen in the transport sector.
- This project is part of the National Green Hydrogen Mission. This pilot will run for 12-18 months to capture a host of information, not just on the product but also on the kind of refuelling infrastructure needed for hydrogen as a fuel.
- The two companies are expected to start the trial run, the first such in the country, on Jamshedpur-Kalinganagar, Mumbai-Ahmedabad, and Mumbai-Pune routes. The aim is to check the commercial viability of hydrogen internal combustion engines and refuelling infrastructure in India, said a senior Tata Motors executive.
2776. Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project: India's First Undersea Tunnel Takes Shape In Maharashtra — All About It
- The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has announced significant progress in the construction of India’s first underground/undersea tunnel for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project.
- NHSRCL is the implementing agency for the Rs 1.08 lakh crore high-speed rail project connecting India's financial capital in Maharashtra to Ahmedabad in Gujarat.
- Spanning 21 km, this underground tunnel will connect the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) in Mumbai to Shilphata in Maharashtra, including a 7-km undersea section at Thane Creek.
2777. Explained: How India Is Driving Global Markets With Homegrown Excellence
- India is emerging as a global economic powerhouse, and its sail is fanned by remarkable achievements in the export sector. Over the past decade, the country evolved from being heavily reliant on imports and emerged as a global leader in exports across various sectors.
- The value of India's iPhone exports increased by 42 per cent in just one year, rising from $9 billion in 2023 to $12.8 billion in 2024. Domestic production of iPhones also grew by nearly 46 per cent, and local contribution to manufacturing (value addition) increased to 15-20 per cent.
- French carmaker Citroen, which entered the Indian market in 2021, is now exporting the 'Made in India' electric vehicle (EV) to international markets. The company has built a plant in Tamil Nadu. In April 2024, the company exported its first batch of 'Citroen e-C3' EVs to Indonesia from Kamarajar Port.

2778. India's exports to US up 5.57% to Rs 5,17,200 crore in April-December FY25
- India's exports rose by 5.57 per cent to Rs 5,16,596 crore ($ 59.93 billion) during April-December this fiscal on account of healthy demand in the American market for domestic goods, according to government data.
- On the other hand, imports during the first nine months of 2024-25 grew by 1.91 per cent to Rs 2,87,908 crore ($33.4 billion), while in December it was up by 9.88 per cent to Rs 32,497 crore ($3.77 billion).
- The bilateral trade during April-December 2024-25 stood at Rs 8,05,108 crore ($93.4 billion), as against Rs 8,15,452 crore ($94.6 billion) between India and China.

2779. India achieves record Rs1.27 lakh crore in domestic defense production, exports expand to over 100 nations.
- During FY 2023-24, India’s efence production has reached a new high of Rs 1,27,265 crore, up 174 per cent from Rs 46,429 crore in 2014-15, according to data from DPSUs, public sector units, and private companies.
- Notably, 21 per cent of this output comes from the private sector, boosting India’s path to self-sufficiency. At present India has 16 Defence Public Sector Units (DPSUs), over 430 licensed companies, and approximately 16,000 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
- India’s defense exports have skyrocketed from ₹686 crore in FY 2013-14 to Rs 21,083 crore in FY 2023-24, a staggering growth of nearly 30 times over the previous decade

- The Indian Army’s impressive display of military might and technological advancements at the 76th Republic Day parade stole the show at the Kartavya Path on January 26, 2025.
- The T-90 Bhishma tank, commanded by Captain Navjot Singh Atwal of the 74 Armoured Regiment, led the Mechanised Columns, and demonstrated India’s cutting-edge military technology.
- The Nag Missile System (NAMIS), commanded by Lt Ritik Choudhary, was another highlight of the parade. This indigenously designed tank destroyer features a crewless turret armed with six Nag missiles, a Remote-Controlled Machine Gun, and a Smoke Grenade Launcher System.
