23111. Fresh export orders for tea, basmati from Iran, China and Russia
- Iran, China and Russia have placed fresh orders for Indian black tea in the midst of the Covid-19 outbreak, a boost for the domestic industry which has incurred losses of about 100 million kg of teas owing to the lockdown.
- West Asian nations led by Iran have also placed orders for basmati rice, but traders are likely to miss the crucial Ramzan period, April 23-May 23, as it takes 40-45 days to ship the consignments.Mohit Agarwal, director, Asian Tea, told ET: “There is good demand from Iran for orthodox teas.
- Their banks have opened and payments for the earlier consignments are coming. Exporters are buying privately since the auction centres are yet to open.

23113. Govt permits exports of non-medical, non-surgical masks
- The government on Saturday eased mask export restrictions by permitting outbound shipments of non-medical and non-surgical masks of all types, including cotton, silk, wool and knitted. However, all other types of masks such as N-95 and surgical masks will continue to remain prohibited for exports.
- Apparel exporters were demanding ease in export ban on cotton, silk, wool, and knitted masks. "It is a welcome move. We had requested the government for this. Now we will have huge export orders. We expect to export these masks worth USD one billion in the next three months," Apparel Export Promotion Council of India Chairman A Sakthivel said.
- The government had banned export of surgical/disposable masks and textile raw material used for making masks in the wake of coronavirus outbreak. Earlier on January 31, the government had banned export of personal protection equipment, including clothing and masks used to protect the wearer from air borne particles and/or any other respiratory masks.

23114. India’s exports to Latin America increased to 13.2 billion dollars in 2019-20, the highest in the last 5 years
- Brazil came back this year to claim its position as the # 1 destination of India’s exports to the region, with 3.97 billion dollars, overtaking Mexico.
- The other major destinations were: Mexico USD 3.62 billion; Colombia USD1.04 billion; Chile USD 793 million; Peru USD 764 million; Argentina USD 763 million. Surprisingly, exports to Venezuela doubled to USD 340 million doubling from USD 165 million in 2018-19. Exports to Mercosur was USD 5005 million, Pacific Alliance USD 6223 million, CAFTA (Central America + DR) USD 1200 million and others USD 754 million.

23115. India Records All Time High Export Of Coir And Coir Products
- The export, of coir and coir products from India worth Rs. 2757.90 crore for the year 2019-20, registering an all-time high record, which is around Rs. 30 crore higher than that of the last year i.e. 2018-19 which stood at Rs. 2728.04 crore.
- While the exports of coir pith, tufted mats, coir Geo-textiles, coir rugs and carpets, coir other sorts, coir rope and power-loom mats registered growth both in terms of quantity and value. 9,88,996 MT of coir and coir products were exported during the year 2019-20 from the country as against 964046 MT exported during the preceding year.
- Coir pith with export earnings of Rs. 1349.63 crore constituted 49% of the total export of coir products from the country. Coir fibre with an export of Rs. 498.43 crore constituted to 18% of the total exports.

23116. Amazon says exports from India-based sellers cross $2 billion
- Amazon.com Inc's total exports from small and medium sellers in India, part of a company programme to export products to global markets, have crossed the $2 billion mark, two company executives said on Monday.
- The programme, also operational in other markets, has helped more than 60,000 Indian sellers export products to 15 Amazon websites, the company said.
- Current sales are still a fraction of India's total exports of goods and services, which are estimated at nearly $530 billion in the financial year that ended on March 31.

23117. Riding on the heels of falling Case Fatality Rate, the Union Government decides to permit exports of ventilators
- The government permitted export of 40 million surgical masks and 2 million medical goggles every month as country is producing these protective gears in excess to their domestic demand, a top official said.
- The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), an arm of the commerce and industry, emended the earlier notification “to the extent that the export policy of 2/3 ply surgical masks, medical goggles is amended from prohibited to restricted category” while export of face shields has been made free.
- Earlier exports of these items were banned to ensure their adequate domestic availability as these equipments are crucial in fighting against the Covid-19 pandemic.

23118. आर्थिक गतिविधियों में सुधार, जुलाई में लगभग पिछले साल के स्तर पर पहुंचा निर्यात
- जुलाई में देश के निर्यात में उल्लेखनीय सुधार दिखा है। वाणिज्य एवं उद्योग मंत्री पीयूष गोयल ने मंगलवार को कहा है कि जुलाई में निर्यात पिछले साल के समान महीने के स्तर के करीब रहा है।
- गोयल ने कहा कि, 'हमारा निर्यात पिछले साल के जुलाई के स्तर पर पहुंच गया है। जुलाई 2019 का करीब 90 फीसदी निर्यात का आंकड़ा हमने पा लिया है। वास्तव में हम इसमें तेल से संबंधित निर्यात हटा दें, जिसका मूल्य से हिसाब से हिस्सा काफी कम होता है, तो जुलाई में हमारा निर्यात पिछले साल के समान महीने के 95 फीसदी से अधिक रहा है।'
- कोविड-19 की वजह से कमजोर वैश्विक मांग से जून में मूल्य के हिसाब से देश का निर्यात 12.41 फीसदी घटकर 21.91 अरब डॉलर रहा था। अप्रैल में निर्यात 60.28 फीसदी घटा था। मई में इसमें 36.7 फीसदी की गिरावट आई थी।

23119. India's farm exports rise 23.24% in March-June 2020 despite pandemic
- India exported 2.3 million personal protection equipment to five countries including the US, the UK and the UAE in July, after the government relaxed export norms and this has substantially helped the country to position itself in the global market of these kits, the Union Health Ministry said.
- "Between March and August 2020, states have procured 14 million indigenous PPE from their own budgetary resources. During the same period, the Centre has distributed 12.8 million PPE to states, UTs and central institutions, free of cost," the ministry said in a statement.
