- Defence sources here said that the IAF sorties airlifted 381 stranded passengers from Jammu and Srinagar to Leh using the C-17 heavy lift transports.
- “The passengers were stranded after Srinagar-Leh national highway was closed due to heavy snowfall,” sources said.
- They added that the IAF regularly provides airlift to the civilian population of the UTs of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh utilising the C-17, C-130 and An-32 transport aircraft.

- Indian Army imparted its tested counter terrorism operation skills to the soldiers of the Uzbekistan Army in its foreign training node at Chaubatia in Ranikhet, Uttarakhand under the ongoing Dustlik-II series of Exercise.
- The use of helicopters to insert soldiers into the operations area and also training on modern weapons like the Seg Sauer of the Indian soldiers are part of the capsule.
- The aim of the exercise is to conduct sub-unit level operations in CT role under United Nations (UN) mandate and in the first two days both sides shared each others drills, demonstrations and best practices.”

- India’s arms imports have decreased by over 33 per cent between 2011–15 and 2016–20, the latest ‘Trends in International Arms Transfers’ report by Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) says.
- India’s imports of US arms also fell by 46 per cent. At the same time, Russia’s arms exports to India also came down by 53 per cent.
- Russia’s arms exports to the world dropped by 22 per cent. The report says that 90 per cent of this decrease is attributable to the fall in exports to India.

- Kalyani Rafael Advanced Systems (KRAS) on Tuesday rolled out its first batch of medium range surface-to-air missile (MRSAM) for the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force.
- "The roll-out event marked KRAS' commitment to deliver more than 1,000 MRSAM 'missile kits' for the Indian Army and the Air Force over the coming years," said the company's official statement.
- These missile sections will then be forwarded to state-run Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) for further and future integration, it added.

- Indian Navy on Wednesday undertook Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with Royal Bahrain Naval Force Corvette Al Muharraq in the Persian Gulf under Operation Sankalp.
- "Enhancing interoperability & strengthening bilateral Maritime cooperation, Reassuring Diaspora & merchant shipping INS Talwar Mission Deployed for Op Sankalp, undertook Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with Royal Bahrain Naval Force Corvette Al Muharraq in the Persian Gulf on 17 Mar 21," said Indian Navy.
- PASSEXs are conducted regularly by the Indian Navy with units of friendly foreign navies, whilst visiting each other's ports or during a rendezvous at sea.

- Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has inaugurated three space technology incubation centres (S-TICs) at National Institute of Technologies at Nagpur, Bhopal and Rourkela,
- such centres are already present at NITs Agartala, Jalandhar and Tiruchirappalli in order to “explore the entrepreneurship skill” of students in the space domain
- “Projects of practical relevance linked to ongoing or future missions of Isro will be made available to students at S-TICs, and their research outcome will be translated into a proof-of-concept or prototype through industries within their region,” ISRO said.

- INDIA and France are working on their third joint satellite mission, even as the bilateral space collaboration is entering into multiple domains, including human spaceflight programme, ISRO Chairman K Sivan said.
- “France is the biggest partner of India in space”, he said at the DST (Department of Science and Technology) Golden Jubilee Discourse on ‘unlocking India’s space potential -geospatial data & mapping’, an event presented on virtual mode by the National Council for Science and Technology Communication and ‘Vigyan Prasar’ on Friday.
- According to ISRO officials, ISRO and French space agency CNES (Centre National dEtudes Spatiales) have undertaken two joint missions 'Megha-Tropiques', which was launched in 2011, and 'Saral-Altika' in 2013.

- India's space agency has for the first time in the country demonstrated free-space quantum communication over a distance of 300 metres, a precursor to using satellites for transmitting highly encrypted data for strategic purposes.
- The demonstration also validated the use of India's homegrown Navic receiver for synchronising time between the transmitter and receiver modules and live videoconferencing using quantum-key-encrypted signals.
- This is a major milestone achievement for unconditionally secured satellite data communication using quantum technologies, ISRO said in a statemen.

- The Defence Ministry signed a contract with Mahindra Defence Systems Ltd (MDSL) for supply of 1,300 Light Specialist Vehicles to the Indian Army.
- The ₹1,056 crore contract will provide a further boost to ‘Make in India initiative of the government according to Defence Ministry. The induction of vehicles is planned to be completed in four years.
- The Light Specialist Vehicle is a modern fighting vehicle and will be authorised to various fighting units for carriage of Medium Machine Guns, Automatic Grenade Launchers as well as Anti-tank Guided Missiles.
