20171. India signs deals to export 500,000 tonnes of wheat, as global prices surge
- India has signed contracts to export about 500,000 tonnes of wheat in recent days, traders said, cashing in on a sharp rally in international prices and signalling a big uptick in overseas sales from the world's second biggest producer of the grain.
- India guarantees producers about $257 a tonne for domestic sales, while benchmark European wheat jumped above 400 euros ($435) on and benchmark wheat prices in Chicago settled at their highest in 14 years.
- Most suppliers have signed these deals at around $340 a tonne free on board (FOB) to $350 a tonne. Traders earlier sold wheat at $305 to $310 a tonne FOB.

20172. Hero Electric to offer battery-swappable e scooters - Ties up with Sun Mobility
- Hero Electric and Sun Mobility will get down to deploying the new battery swappable technology within the next three months. At least around 10,000 of Hero Electric e-scooters will be fitted with Sun Mobility's battery tech by the end of the year
- Battery swapping pushes the running costs of the scooter down substantially, by as much as 40% compared to conventional scooters. Battery swapping, by the way, is simply replacing a depleted battery with a fully charged one at a battery swapping station, which are similar to 'petrol bunks'.
- German engineering company Bosch has invested in the Bengaluru-based Sun Mobility for a 26% stake. Sun Mobility battery swapping stations will also be part of the petrol stations from the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), which is planning to have EV charging stations at 10,000 of its petrol and diesel outlets across India.
20173. Agnikul: Meet the IIT Madras Grads Reaching for the Stars With 3D Printed Rockets
- Agnikul, which was co-founded by Srinath and Moin SPM, is working on developing small rockets that can carry a payload of up to 100 kg into space. In 2017, the duo set out to combine rocket technology with 3D printing. By doing this they were trying to make travel to outer space a reality.
- In 2021, an entire rocket engine was 3D-printed as one single block in 72 hours. A record in itself. Agnilet was successfully test-fired thereby becoming India’s first single-piece 3D printed engine.

20175. Why I Am Proud to Be the ‘Appa’ of 42 Children Living With HIV
- Chennai-based Solomon Raj runs the Shelter Trust, where he cares for children living with HIV who have been abandoned by their relatives. In 2005, Solomon Raj was contacted by Noori, a trans woman from Tamil Nadu, about an HIV positive child who had lost his mother. The child was only six years old at the time and had lost his entire family to the deadly virus.
- For years prior, Solomon and his wife Felvia Shanthi, a Chennai-based couple, had been thinking of adopting a child before they had their own. So when they received Noori’s call, he knew what he had to do. He took in the six-year-old as his own. Now, 17 years later, Solomon is ‘appa’ to 42 children living with HIV, who have been left behind or abandoned.
- “My family and friends would often ask me, ‘Why are you doing this? These kids eat in the same place, play with your biological kids. Aren’t you scared for their safety?’ I cut off ties with most of them. I told them, ‘If you do not have anything good to say, don’t say anything bad either. Don’t discourage me or discriminate against my children,’” says the proud appa.

- कौशल विकास और उद्यमशीलता मंत्रालय के अधीन स्वायत्तशासी संगठन राष्ट्रीय उद्यमिता एवं लघु व्यवसाय विकास संस्थान (NIESBUD) ने स्टार्टअप ग्राम उद्यमशीलता कार्यक्रम (SVEP) पहल के जरिये मैदानी स्तर पर उद्यमशीलता को प्रोत्साहन देने के लिये एक सतत स्वरूप विकसित करने के वास्ते ग्रामीण विकास मंत्रालय के साथ समझौता-ज्ञापन पर हस्ताक्षर किये हैं।
- साझेदारी के अंतर्गत ग्रामीण उद्यमियों को अपने कारोबार शुरू करने के सम्बंध में वित्तीय समर्थन हासिल करने के लिये बैंकिंग प्रणाली तक पहुंच मिल जायेगी।
- इसमें मुद्रा बैंक का समर्थन भी शामिल है। एकीकृत आईसीटी तकनीकों और उपकरणों से क्षमता निर्माण और प्रशिक्षण मिलेगा। इसके तहत देश के गांवों में उद्यमशीलता इकोसिस्टम को बढ़ाने के लिये उपक्रम सलाहकार सेवायें भी दी जायेंगी।
20177. With $ 10 billion investment, industry can tap $2 trillion global semiconductor market, says ex-IIT Delhi director
- An investment of about $ 10 billion can help industry tap into global opportunities of $ 2 trillion in market size, V Ramgopal Rao, professor at IIT-Delhi said
- India is ranked 5th in Nano-Electronic research in the world and there are seven institutions in India that are working to boost research and development in the nano space, he said.

20178. Chandrayaan-2 makes exciting new discovery below Moon's surface
- The new observations provide insight into the dynamics of the lunar exosphere and activities in the first few tens of meters below the lunar surface.
- Chandrayaan-2 has once again found new developments happening under the surface of the Moon. Chandra’s Atmospheric Composition Explorer-2 (CHACE-2) instrument onboard Chandrayaan-2 has found Argon-40 in the tenuous lunar exosphere.
- The new observations provide insight into the dynamics of the lunar exospheric species and activities in the first few tens of meters below the lunar surface that could pave the way for understanding the composition of the lunar surface.
- The observations show the presence of Argon in the equatorial and mid-latitude regions of the Moon. While it's not the first time that Argon-40 has been detected on the Moon, so far these detections had been limited to near-equatorial regions as seen by the Apollo-17 mission.
20179. Padma Shri Bulu Imam जिन्होंने 6000 महिलाओं को कोहबर कला से जोड़, दिलाई इंटरनेशनल पहचान
- बुलू इमाम को बीते तीन दशकों के दौरान, जनजातीय कला को बढ़ावा देने के लिए साल 2019 में पद्म श्री पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया गया था। दामोदर घाटी सभ्यता की खोज करने वाले इस पर्यावरण कार्यकर्ता की प्रेरक कहानी! इससे पहले साल 2011 में उन्हें लंदन के हाउस ऑफ लॉर्ड्स में ‘गांधी अंतरराष्ट्रीय शांति पुरस्कार’ से सम्मानित किया गया था।
- 42 साल की पुतली गंझू, झारखंड के हजारीबाग की रहनेवाली हैं। पुतली, बिल्कुल भी पढ़ी-लिखी नहीं हैं, लेकिन दीवारों पर उनकी कोहबर और सोहराई कला के जरिए बने चित्रों को देखहर कोई मंत्रमुग्ध रह जाता है। वह कहती हैं, “हमारी कला, हमारी पहचान है। ‘पापा’ ने इसे निखारने के लिए हमारे पीछे, वर्षों मेहनत की और उसी का नतीजा है कि आज मेरी जैसी कई महिलाओं के इस हुनर से पूरी दुनिया वाकिफ है।” हजारीबाग में पुतली जैसी 6000 से अधिक महिलाएं हैं, जिन्हें पर्यावरण कार्यकर्ता बुलू इमाम (Padma Shri Bulu Imam) के प्रयासों से एक नई पहचान मिली है। 80 साल के इमाम बीते तीन दशकों से भी अधिक समय से आदिवासी संस्कृति और विरासत को बचाने की मुहिम पर हैं और स्थानीय लोग प्यार से उन्हें ‘पापा’ कहते हैं।
- बुलू इमाम (Padma Shri Bulu Imam) बताते हैं कि ‘इसको’ एक संस्कृत शब्द है, जिसका हिन्दी में अर्थ है – तांबा। उन्हें इस जगह पर एक बहुत बड़ा शैलचित्र (Rock Art) मिला और उन्होंने अपने आगे की खोजबीन शुरू कर दी।
- साल 1991 में, बुलू इमाम (Padma Shri Bulu Imam) ने कर्णपुरा घाटी में एक दर्जन से भी अधिक शैलचित्रों की खोज की, जो 5000 साल से भी अधिक पुरानी थीं और इन रॉक आर्ट्स पर बनीं कलाकृतियों से ही, उन्होंने कोहबर यानी विवाह कला और मिट्टी के घरों पर बनी सोहराय (फसल) कला को पूरी दुनिया के सामने रखा।
- बुलू इमाम (Padma Shri Bulu Imam) ने कोहबर और सोहराय कला को बढ़ावा देने के लिए, 1993 में संस्कृति म्यूजियम एंड आर्ट् गैलरी की शुरुआत की। इस म्यूजियम को उन्होंने अपने घर में ही शुरू किया है। इस घर में 20 कमरे हैं और वह अपने बच्चों के साथ यहां रहते हैं। इतना ही नहीं, वह अभी तक 30 राष्ट्रीय और 80 से अधिक अंतरराष्ट्रीय प्रदर्शनियों में भी हिस्सा ले चुके हैं और दुनिया में झारखंड की जनजातीय कला को एक नई पहचान दी है।
- बुलू इमाम कहते हैं, “मैंने दो साल पहले नेशनल गैलरी ऑफ कनाडा में एक प्रदर्शनी में हिस्सा लिया। इस प्रदर्शनी को ‘Abadakone’ नाम दिया गया था, जिसका अर्थ है अमर ज्योति। इसमें 40 देशों के कलाकारों ने हिस्सा लिया था।
20180. दूध बेच, रिक्शा चला बने शिक्षक, रिटायरमेंट के बाद दान कर दिए सभी 40 लाख रुपये
- मध्य प्रदेश के पन्ना के रहनेवाले विजय कुमार चंसौरिया हाल ही में एक प्राइमरी स्कूल टीचर के पद से रिटायर हुए, उन्हें रिटायरमेंट में 40 लाख रुपये मिले, जिसे उन्होंने गरीब बच्चों की भलाई के लिए दान कर दिया।
- पन्ना जिले के टिकुरिया गांव में रहनेवाले विजय बताते हैं कि बात चाहे त्योहारों में बच्चों के बीच नए कपड़े बांटने की हो या ठंड में स्वेटर बांटने की, वह किसी न किसी तरह से हमेशा बच्चों की मदद करते रहते थे। इससे उन्हें एक अलग ही सुकून मिलता था।विजय, रिटायरमेंट के आखिरी दिनों में खंदिया स्कूल में थे, जो एक आदिवासी बाहुल्य गांव है। वह बताते हैं कि यह प्राथमिक विद्यालय रक्सेहा संकुल केंद्र के तहत है।
- विजय का बचपन काफी गरीबी में गुजरा। वह कहते हैं, “1960 के दौर में देश काफी मुश्किल हालातों से गुजर रहा था और रोजगार के ज्यादा साधन नहीं थे। मैंने जैसे-तैसे करके 8वीं पास की, लेकिन घर की दशा ठीक न होने के कारण मैंने दूध बेचना और रिक्शा चलाना शुरू कर दिया।”
- सिर्फ 14 साल की उम्र में विजय ने अपने परिवार को संभालना शुरू कर दिया। धीरे-धीरे उनकी स्थिति कुछ अच्छी हुई और उन्होंने दो-तीन वर्षों के बाद, फिर से अपनी पढ़ाई शुरू कर दी और 1982 में उन्होंने एक स्थानीय कॉलेज से पॉलीटिकल साइंस में मास्टर्स की डिग्री हासिल की। इसके बाद, साल 1983 में उनका चयन एक प्राइमरी स्कूल टीचर के तौर पर हो गया।
- बीते 31 जनवरी को रिटायर होने वाले विजय बताते हैं, “दान किए गए पैसों से एक ट्रस्ट बनाया जा रहा है, जिसमें स्कूल के हेडमास्टर, टीचर, सरपंच के साथ मैं भी रहूंगा। इस ट्रस्ट में कुल 11 सदस्य होंगे। जमा पैसों से करीब दो लाख का ब्याज मिलेगा, उससे आस-पास के छात्रों को स्कूल की फीस भरने और अन्य जरूरतों में मदद की जाएगी।”
