- How many times have you carefully looked at the green shade of coriander or felt its texture? Because it is such a universal ingredient in food dishes and readily available, this versatile herb cum spice is undervalued.
- Gopal Dutt Upreti, an organic farmer from Uttarakhand’s Bilkesh village (Ranikhet), also never paid any attention to his coriander plants until they entered the Guinness Book of World Records on 21 April this year.
- The 47-year-old’s coriander plant received the title of ‘world’s tallest coriander plant’ with a height of 7.1 feet (2.16 metres) using traditional ‘Himalayan farming techniques’.

- After years of working as an architect, Natasha Tuli founded a handmade natural personal care brand, Soulflower in 2001.
- “I am a very practical person and do not like to visit salons. Working as a landscape architect brought me close to herbal and ayurvedic products and I decided to try my hand at making some,” she says. Natasha was soon joined by her husband Amit Sarda as co-founder of Soulflower.

- For those manufacturers, who were already using social media platforms to promote their sales have gone a step and have also launched their websites to boost their sales

When the scene was normal we exported belts, handbags and wallets for some of the most expensive brands in the world. But things changed during the lockdown. But, we rarely think about the exploitation of marginalized communities and the environment to cater to the excessive consumption of these sugar, oil, and dairy-based products.
- After launching Rakhis to raise awareness among consumers about the exploitation of cotton growers and how the monopoly of textile mill owners have affected the livelihoods of spinners and weavers, the Gramart Project has launched a new initiative – ‘Seed crackers’ and ‘seed sweets’.
- “To raise conversations about these topics, we have launched BeejParva – a series of eco-friendly, exploitation-free and meaningful alternatives to the current methods of celebrations,” says Tanmay Joshi, who is a part of Gramart project.

- यदि आप देश के किसी भी हिस्से में जाएंगे तो आपको प्लास्टिक या थर्मोकॉल का प्लेट दिख ही जाएगा। यह न केवल हमारे पर्यावरण के लिए अच्छी बात है और न ही हमारे शरीर के लिए। इन प्लेट्स ने धीरे धीरे पुराने समय से प्रयोग की जा रही पत्तल की प्लेटों का स्थान ले लिया है, जबकि पत्तल में खाने से हमारे शरीर को कई तरह के फायदे मिलते हैं। लेकिन इन सबके बीच देश में कुछ लोग ऐसे भी हैं जो पत्तलों को फिर से हम सबके टेबल पर पहुँचाने के लिए प्रयास कर रहे हैं। आज हम आपको एक दंपति से मिलवाने जा रहे हैं, जिन्होंने पत्तल को फिर से हर घर तक पहुँचाने का जिम्मा उठा लिया है।
- हैदराबाद में रहने वाले माधवी और वेणुगोपाल ने 2019 में ‘विसत्राकू’ नाम से एक स्टार्टअप की नींव रखी, जिसके ज़रिए वह साल और पलाश के पत्तों से इको-फ्रेंडली प्लेट और कटोरी बना रहे हैं। ‘विसत्राकू’ तेलुगु भाषा में पत्तल या पत्रावली को कहा जाता है।
- माधवी और वेणु की कहानी काफी रोचक है। एक बार उन्होंने अपनी सोसाइटी के बाहर डिस्पोजेबल प्लेट्स का ढेर लगा देखा, वहाँ कुछ जानवर भी थे जो भोजन ढूंढ़ रहे थे। यह दृश्य देखकर दोनों बहुत निराश हुआ और यहीं से ‘विसत्राकू’ की कहानी शुरू होती है।
