1782. BHASHINI, CRIS Sign MoU To Develop Multilingual AI For Railways
- Digital India Bhashini Division (DIBD) and the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Monday to jointly build and deploy next-generation multilingual artificial intelligence solutions for the Indian Railways’ public-facing digital platforms.
- The agreement, signed by BHASHINI CEO Amitabh Nag and CRIS Managing Director G.V.L. Satya Kumar, is aimed at integrating BHASHINI’s advanced language technology stack—including Automatic Speech Recognition, Text-to-Text Translation, Text-to-Speech, and Optical Character Recognition—into systems such as the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) and RailMadad.
- The collaboration is expected to significantly enhance language accessibility for railway passengers by enabling support for 22 Indian languages across websites, mobile applications, kiosks, and call centers. The two organisations will also co-develop AI-powered chatbots, multilingual voice assistants, and over-the-counter enquiry interfaces.

1783. Indian Army To Get Rs 30,000 Crore Air Defence Boost With Indigenous QRSAM System
- On June 9, 2025, Indian Army is boosting its air defense capabilities with the proposed acquisition of the indigenous Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missile system in three regiments of the QRSAM system, valued at around ₹30,000 crore.
- QRSAM is a mobile missile system capable of searching and tracking targets on the move and firing at short halts. The system is designed to complement existing air defense systems, with a range of around 30 km.
