- The Defence Research and Development Organisation has transferred the technologies of nine advanced defence systems—including a mounted gun system and a tracked anti-terrorist vehicle—to ten public and private sector partners, the Ministry of Defence announced on June 8, 2025.
- BRN Recce Vehicle (Tracked) Mk-II has been transferred to Bharat Electronics Ltd., Mounted Gun System has been licensed to Bharat Forge Ltd., and Anti-Terrorist Vehicle (Tracked Version) has been transferred to Metaltech Motor Bodies Private Ltd.
- Additionally, the full trailer for the 70-tonne tank transporter designed for the main battle tank Arjun Mk-1A has been transferred to four industry partners, including BEML Ltd. A Multi-Purpose Decontamination System has also been licensed to two defence firms
1792. Andhra Pradesh Government Approves ₹450 Crore Water Supply Scheme for Mangalagiri-Tadepalli
- On 9 June 2025, It was reported that, In a significant development aimed at strengthening urban infrastructure, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has sanctioned a ₹ 450 crore Comprehensive Water Supply Improvement Scheme for the Mangalagiri-Tadepalli Municipal Corporation (MTMC).
- The initiative, led by the Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Department, aims to ensure reliable and equitable access to safe drinking water for all areas within MTMC’s jurisdiction by 2056.
- The initiative is expected to significantly benefit thousands of residents, improve health outcomes, and contribute to the socio-economic development of the region.

1793. Indian Coast Guard inaugurates dedicated jetty at Kerala Vizhinjam Harbour
- On June 9, 2025, ICG Director General Paramesh Sivamani inaugurated a dedicated Coast Guard jetty at Vizhinjam Harbour, Kerala to boost vessel deployment speed and mission readiness.
- Located just 10 nautical miles from key international shipping lanes and adjacent to the Vizhinjam Deepwater Port, the 76.7-metre jetty significantly strengthens India’s southwestern coastal security.
- The facility will enhance coastal surveillance, search & rescue, anti-smuggling, and fisheries protection—supporting the Coast Guard’s expanding role with its 190-ship fleet since its founding in 1977.
1794. Rs 111.5 crore sanctioned for Mangalagiri-Tadepalli drinking water system in Andhra Pradesh
- On June 7, 2025, the Andhra Pradesh government sanctioned an additional ₹111.5 crore to enhance the drinking water supply in Mangalagiri-Tadepalli Municipal Corporation (MTMC), represented by HRD & IT Minister Nara Lokesh.
- The funds will support pipeline work and tank construction in 36 villages under MTMC, as part of a larger ₹450.24 crore water project routed via CRDA and executed by the Public Health and Municipal Engineering Department.
- Alongside water upgrades, MTMC is witnessing a transformation with projects like a ₹1,138 crore underground drainage system, ₹137 crore stormwater plan, and a ₹47 crore 100-bed hospital, aiming to improve urban living and healthcare.
1795. India successfully tests AI-enabled light machine guns in high-altitude terrain
- In a step towards enhancing autonomous combat capabilities, India on 9 June 2025, successfully tested an artificial intelligence-enabled light machine gun (LMG) system in high-altitude terrain.
- Developed by Dehradun-based defence firm BSS Material Ltd., the AI-powered Negev LMG underwent trials in collaboration with the Indian Army at an altitude of 14,000 feet, officials said.
- The trials, focused on functionality and accuracy, are part of a broader push to modernise the armed forces through indigenous innovation under the 'Make in India' and 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' initiatives.
1796. DRDO transfers 9 defence technologies to 10 Indian firms to expand defence manufacturing base
- On June 9, 2025, DRDO transferred nine advanced defence technologies to ten Indian firms, including Bharat Electronics, BEML, Tata Advanced Systems, and Bharat Forge, under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
- The technology handover took place at DRDO’s Vehicles Research & Development Establishment (VRDE) in Ahilyanagar, Maharashtra, led by Dr. Samir V. Kamat, DRDO Chairman.
- The move aims to boost indigenous defence manufacturing, reduce import dependence, and strengthen the public-private defence ecosystem following successful performance during Operation Sindoor.

1798. राफेल जेट में ‘मेक इन इंडिया’ का टच, क्या भारत ग्लोबल एयरोस्पेस हब बनने के लिए तैयार है?
- फ्रांस की एयरोस्पेस कंपनी डसॉल्ट एविएशन और भारत के टाटा ग्रुप ने मिलकर हैदराबाद में राफेल लड़ाकू विमानों का फ्यूजलेज बनाने का फैसला किया है। फ्यूजलेज विमान का मुख्य ढांचा होता है।
- यह समझौता भारत और फ्रांस के बीच हुए 63,887 करोड़ रुपये के बड़े समझौते का हिस्सा है। ऐसा पहली बार है कि डसॉल्ट कंपनी फ्रांस के बाहर राफेल विमान के फ्यूजलेज का उत्पादन करेगी।
- समझौते में भारत की नौसेना के लिए 26 राफेल-मरीन जेट विमान खरीदे जाएंगे। इन विमानों की डिलीवरी 2028 से 2030 के बीच होने की उम्मीद है।
1799. UPI Service: PhonePe launches non-internet UPI payments for feature phones
- On 8 June 2025 It was reported that, PhonePe acquired the GSPay app, which enables UPI payments on feature phones using SMS without internet, making digital transactions accessible for users without smartphones.
- GSPay, launched in 2023 by Gupshup, was based on UPI 123PAY technology; after acquiring it, PhonePe announced plans to develop its own UPI app for feature phones using this technology.
- The initiative empowered crores of users in rural and low-internet areas, allowing them to send money, recharge, or pay bills safely via *99# or offline QR codes, thus supporting the goal of Digital India.
1800. UK supports India in fight against terrorism: Lammy
- UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy visited India and met Prime Minister and ministry of External Affairs of India, expressing strong support for India’s fight against cross-border terrorism, especially after the Pahalgam terror attack.
- Lammy discussed the historic Free Trade Agreement (FTA) signed on May 6, 2025 highlighting that it could boost bilateral trade by over £25 billion annually, and emphasized deeper cooperation in trade, defence, technology, and clean energy.
- Both sides also held the first Strategic Exports and Technology Cooperation Dialogue on June 3, 2025 to promote trade in critical technologies, while Lammy reiterated the UK's interest in strengthening the strategic partnership with India.
