1761. Toy industry booming with 239% rise in exports in FY23 over FY15; Toy Biz International Expo expecting buyers from 25 countries in July
- On 16 June 2025 It was reported that, India recorded a sharp jump in toy exports, where toy imports declined by more than 70% in the toys between fy2018-19 and fy2023-24, and exports increased by more than 60%, making India a strong presence in the global market.
- Steps such as increasing custom duty up to 60%, compulsory BIS certification and tightening quality standards reduced the dependence of Chinese toys and promoted Indian construction.
- The US and European retail giants such as Walmart, Hamleys and Lulu Group showed interest in Indian toy makers, leading India to emerge as a trusted and competitive partner in the global supply chain.

1762. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurates developmental projects in Ladakh

1763. HBL Engineering bags ₹132.95 cr railway contract for Kavach safety system
- On 15 June 2025, HBL Engineering Ltd secured a ₹132.95 crore contract from South Central Railway to deploy the Kavach safety system over 446 km, covering 48 stations and 10 locomotives.
- Kavach is India’s indigenous automatic train protection system, aimed at preventing signal passing at danger (SPAD) and train collisions.
- Despite the new contract, HBL reported a 20% drop in Q4 FY25 net profit and a 22% decline in revenue, with electronics being the hardest-hit segment.
1764. Big win! China companies now exporting 'Made in India' smartphones & electronics to US, West Asia; notable shift for Chinese brands
- On 15 June 2025, it was reported that Chinese smartphone and electronics companies such as Oppo, Realme, Lenovo, Motorola, and Hisense have begun exporting ‘Made in India’ products to West Asia, Africa, and the United States, marking a strategic shift in their operations amid rising local production and policy pressure.
- This export push follows the Indian government’s post-2020 guidance to localise Chinese operations—urging firms to partner with Indian companies, appoint Indian nationals to boards, and build domestic distribution and manufacturing bases. Brands like Oppo earned ₹272 crore and Realme ₹114 crore in FY24 from exports, while Dixon Technologies scaled up production for Motorola and Transsion Holdings to meet global demand.
- While many Chinese firms aren’t directly under India’s PLI scheme, their Indian contract manufacturers like Dixon benefit from it. The move helps diversify supply chains, mitigate US-China trade risks, and boost India’s global tech export share—where smartphones became the top export in FY25 with $24.14 billion in shipments, led by Apple and Samsung.

1765. PM Modi leaves for Cyprus, to attend G7 Summit in Canada on Tuesday
- On June 15, 2025, Prime Minister began a five-day, three-nation tour covering Cyprus, Canada, and Croatia, marking the first visit by an Indian PM to Cyprus in 23 years and to Croatia ever. This is his first overseas visit after Operation Sindoor, aimed at counter-terror diplomacy and global outreach.
- In Cyprus (June 15–16), PM will meet President to enhance cooperation in trade, technology, and security. In Canada (June 16–17), he will attend the G7 Summit to present India's views on terrorism, energy security, and innovation, amid recently strained diplomatic ties over the Khalistan issue.
- The final leg in Croatia (June 18) will include meetings with President and PM , aiming to strengthen cultural and bilateral ties. Indian Prime Minister emphasized this tour as a gesture of gratitude for global support against terrorism and a push for deeper strategic engagement.

1766. ISRO conducts first successful rocket launching test with payload in UP
- On June 15, 2025 ISRO conducted its first successful rocket launch from Kushinagar Uttar Pradesh, in collaboration with Thrust Tech India Limited, marking a historic milestone for the state.
- The 15 kg rocket reached an altitude of 1.1 km, deployed a payload that safely descended using a parachute, and landed within 400 metres of the launch site.
- The launch is a precursor to a larger satellite event scheduled for October-November 2025, where nearly 900 student-built satellites will be tested to boost youth interest in space technology.
1767. ADB Approves $109.97 Million Loan to Transform Skills Development in Gujarat
- ADB approved a $109.97 million loan on 13 June 2025 to support Gujarat’s initiatives in advanced technical and vocational education and training (TVET).
- The loan aided the implementation of the Gujarat Skills Development Program, aimed at building an inclusive and future-ready workforce aligned with rapidly changing industrial needs.
- The initiative was carried out through a collaboration between Gujarat’s Labor, Skill Development and Employment Department and Kaushalya: The Skill University (KSU), in line with NEP 2020 and the Gujarat Skills Development Plan (2025–2030).

- On 13 June 2025, In a major boost to Maharashtra’s aerospace and defence manufacturing sector, a helicopter production facility worth Rs 8,000 crore is set to be established in Nagpur.
- Max Aerospace & Aviation Pvt Ltd signed an MoU with Maharashtra's Industries Department to set up a helicopter production facility in Nagpur, expected to begin in 2026 and generate around 2,000 jobs over eight years.
- The project, supported by the Chief Minister, was seen as a major step toward defence self-sufficiency and Maharashtra’s emergence as a significant player in the national aerospace supply chain.

- On 14 June 2025, It wa reported that, India's defence production increased by 174% since 2014, reaching ₹1.27 lakh crore in 2023-24, while defence exports grew 34-fold to ₹23,622 crore in 2024-25, with equipment being exported to over 85 countries.
- The operation utilised indigenous systems, such as the Akash surface-to-air missile platform, BrahMos missiles and loitering munitions, showcasing India's advancements in defence technology.
- Two dedicated defence industrial corridors have been established in Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, attracting investments worth over Rs 8,658 crore and signed 253 MoUs with an estimated investment potential of Rs 53,439 crore.
1770. Kavach 4.0 Trials Conducted To Enhance Passengers’ Safety, Train Operations
- On June 12, 2025, in a significant move to enhance passenger safety and train operation efficiency, the Indian Railways successfully completed field trials of the upgraded Kavach Version 4.0 between Bamrauli and Athsarai in Uttar Pradesh.
- The trials were a part of the Railway ministry’s flagship “Mission Raftar Project” under which the railways is increasing safety measures apart from improving train speeds.
