2461. Sonowal unveils initiative to enhance efficiency of major ports
- On 27 February,2025, union minister launched a series of major initiatives of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) aimed at modernising India’s maritime infrastructure, strengthening its global trade presence, and promoting sustainability.
- The minister launched the ‘One Nation-One Port Process (ONOP)’, an initiative to standardise and streamline operations across India’s major ports.
- Minister also launched Sagar Ankalan — the Logistics Port Performance Index (LPPI) for FY 2023-24, as a significant step towards enhancing efficiency and global competitiveness in India’s maritime sector.

2462. TP Solar bags Rs 632 cr order to supply 292.5 MWp solar modules from SECI
- On 27 February,2025, Tata Power said that its solar manufacturing arm TP Solar has secured an order worth Rs 632 crore for the supply of 292.5 MWp solar modules from Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI).
- The contract, valued at approximately Rs 632 crore, entails the delivery of high-quality DCR (Domestic Content Requirement) modules to the designated site in Ramagiri, Andhra Pradesh, it added.
- The contract includes a total scope of 400 MWp DCR Modules, of which TP Solar has secured 292.5 MWp.

- On 27, February,2025, IIT-Madras and the Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) have successfully developed and booted an indigenous semiconductor chip named IRIS.

2464. Tripura aims to install 50,000 solar plants in 2025 under PM Surya Ghar Yojana
- On March 17, 2025, Tripura Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath announced that the state government has set a target of installing 50,000 solar plants in 2025 under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. So far, 12,800 solar plants have already been installed.
- The initiative aims to reduce electricity costs and increase household income by enabling residential families to generate their own power through rooftop solar installations.
- The government has launched registration camps across the state to promote participation. The plants can be installed on rooftops, yards, and tin roofs. The expected lifespan of the solar plants is 25 years.

2465. Mizoram to launch healthcare scheme with Rs 5 lakh annual cover
- On March 17, 2025, Mizoram's Health Minister announced that Mizoram will launch the Mizoram Universal Healthcare Scheme (MUHCS) on April 1, providing ₹5 lakh annual coverage per family for cashless medical treatment. The scheme will benefit all residents, including government employees, and aligns with the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY).
- The scheme will cover pre-existing conditions and hospitalization expenses, allowing beneficiaries to access free treatment at government hospitals, primary healthcare centres, and empanelled private or church-run hospitals. Discussions with private hospitals in Aizawl are still ongoing to finalize their participation.
- Contribution-Based Plans: General Plan: ₹2,500/year (general ward treatment) Standard Plan: ₹5,000/year (semi-private ward access) Private Plan: ₹10,000/year (private ward facilities) Government Employees (including contractual/muster-roll staff) will pay monthly premiums between ₹200 and ₹1,500.

2466. Assam: Centre approves Rs 1019 crore for Majuli-Jorhat bridge construction

2467. Over 200 Investors Secure Land In J&K Post Article 370 Abrogation
- On March 18, 2025, official data revealed that over 200 investors from outside Jammu and Kashmir have secured land in industrial estates to set up business units since the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019.
- The Industrial Policy 2016-26 saw 28 investors securing 500+ kanals of land in Samba and Kathua. The amended Industrial Policy 2021-30, introduced after Article 370 revocation, accelerated outside investments, attracting businesses from Delhi, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Haryana, Punjab, Bihar, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu.
- Jammu region (especially Kathua & Samba) remains the top choice for industrial investments. The post-370 industrial reforms have led to a manifold increase in land acquisitions by outside investors. J&K’s economic landscape is shifting towards manufacturing and services.
2468. Over 1250 km road length constructed by BRO along Indo-China border in Ladakh
- On March 18, 2025, a report tabled in both Houses of Parliament revealed that the Border Roads Organization (BRO) has constructed over 1,250 km of roads along the Indo-China border in Ladakh, reinforcing strategic connectivity.
- The Indian Army identified 476 roads (totaling 22,156 km) for construction and improvement under the Long-Term Roll-on Works Plan (LTRoWP). Ladakh-specific projects: Phase-I: 12 roads, totaling 1,099.02 km (11 completed, 1 under construction). Phase-II: 4 roads, totaling 173.38 km (1 completed, 3 under construction).
- Tourism has significantly increased, with travel time reduced from two days to a single day. The roads are not only strategic for defence but also boost the local economy.
