11. 1 in 4 iPhones are now made in India as Apple ramps up production by 53 per cent
- On March 11, 2026, reports showed that Apple Inc. increased Apple iPhone production in India by 53% in 2025, assembling about 55 million units, up from 36 million in 2024, according to industry reports.
- Apple, with manufacturing partners Foxconn, Pegatron, and Tata Electronics, expanded iPhone assembly in India, supported by the government’s Production-Linked Incentive scheme and supply-chain diversification away from China.
- India now produces about 25% of global iPhones, with total annual production around 220–230 million units worldwide. The country also assembles the latest iPhone models and exports devices globally as Apple strengthens India as a major manufacturing hub.

12. India's exports of active pharma ingredients at ₹41,500 cr surpassed imports in FY25
- On March 10, 2026, in New Delhi, the Government of India announced that India’s active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) exports reached about ₹41,500 crore in FY2024-25, surpassing imports worth ₹39,215 crore for the first time.
- Jagat Prakash Nadda, Union Chemicals and Fertilizers Minister, informed the Rajya Sabha that exports exceeded imports due to government initiatives like the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, aimed at boosting domestic manufacturing of APIs and reducing import dependence.
- India imported APIs worth ₹36,229 crore in 2022-23, ₹37,721 crore in 2023-24, and ₹39,214 crore in FY2024-25; imports from China rose to ₹29,064 crore (74% share). The ₹6,940-crore PLI scheme created 56,800-tonne annual capacity and 4,896 jobs

13. Adani to invest $100 billion in AI data centres by 2035
- The Adani Group announced that it will invest $100 billion to build data centers for artificial intelligence (AI) in India by 2035. These data centers will be powered by renewable energy.
- The company said in a statement this investment aims to make India a leader in AI by creating the necessary energy and computing platforms.
- The initial investment is expected to lead to an additional $150 billion in related industries by 2035, including server manufacturing, electrical systems, and cloud platforms. This will create $250 billion worth of AI infrastructure in India over the next decade, the company stated.
14. DRDO, Navy successfully test indigenous Air-Droppable Container for mid-sea emergency support
- On March 10, 2026, the Defence Research and Development Organisation and the Indian Navy successfully tested the indigenous Air-Droppable Container ADC-150 from a Boeing P-8I Poseidon aircraft during in-flight trials conducted off the coast of Goa
- DRDO and the Indian Navy jointly carried out four in-flight release trials by dropping the ADC-150 from the P-8I aircraft under extreme conditions to validate its performance, enabling rapid aerial delivery of essential supplies to naval vessels operating far at sea.
- The ADC-150 can deliver a 150-kg payload, including equipment, medical supplies, and emergency stores, to ships in distress. Developed with contributions from multiple DRDO laboratories, the system completed all flight trials successfully and is expected to be inducted into naval operations soon.
15. Microsoft announces $50 billion AI push at India AI Summit:Tech giant to focus on infrastructure, skills, and support for local innovation
- India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi, Microsoft announced that it is on track to invest $50 billion (₹72,000 crore) by the end of this decade to expand artificial intelligence infrastructure, skills, and innovation across countries in the Global South.
- The announcement comes amid growing concerns that AI adoption is advancing much faster in developed economies, potentially widening the gap between rich and developing nations.
- Microsoft outlined a five-part plan to ensure wider AI adoption across emerging economies. The strategy focuses on building AI-ready infrastructure, expanding digital and AI skills, strengthening multilingual capabilities, supporting local innovation, and measuring AI diffusion more effectively to guide policy decisions.
- India features prominently in Microsoft’s AI expansion plans. The company said it will train 5.6 million people in India in 2025 and aims to equip 20 million Indians with AI skills by 2030. This includes students, developers, and working professionals.
16. L&T, NVIDIA partner to build sovereign gigawatt-scale AI factory in India
- Engineering major Larsen & Toubro (L&T) announced a proposed venture with NVIDIA to build sovereign, scalable gigawatt (GW)-scale AI factory infrastructure, to reinforce India as a global AI powerhouse.
- This partnership, announced at the AI Impact Summit, is aimed at India’s enterprises, policymakers, industry leaders, global off-takers and analysts seeking production-grade AI capacity anchored in India’s digital and industrial transformation.
- The venture will scale NVIDIA GPU cluster deployment at its Chennai DC up to 30 MW capacity in its 300 acres gigawatt-scalable campus and at the new 40 MW data centre in Mumbai currently under execution.
- While it was not immediately clear the total investment that L&T is investing in this but according to industry sources a 250 MW data centre it costs approximately $9 - 10 billion.
17. Qualcomm to Invest Up to USD 150 Mn in India’s Growing AI Ecosystem
- Qualcomm has announced plans to invest up to USD 150 million to support India’s rapidly growing artificial intelligence and technology startup ecosystem.
- The investment will be deployed through Qualcomm Ventures and will fund startups at various stages, with a strong focus on AI applications in automotive, Internet of Things (IoT), robotics, and mobile technologies.
- The announcement was made as Qualcomm President and CEO Cristiano Amon participated in the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, highlighting the company’s continued engagement with India’s technology sector.
- Qualcomm has been investing in India’s startup ecosystem since 2007 and has backed more than 40 companies. Its portfolio includes major players such as Reliance Jio, MapmyIndia, ideaForge, Shadowfax, Cavli Wireless, SpotDraft, and ToneTag.
18. Mukesh Ambani's Reliance makes Rs 10 lakh cr audacious bet on India's AI prowess
- Making a 'bold' bet on India's AI prowess, billionaire Mukesh Ambani announced that Jio together with Reliance Industries will invest Rs 10 lakh crore in artificial intelligence over the next seven years.
- Jio Intelligence will build India’s sovereign compute infrastructure through three key initiatives, Mukesh Ambani said. “One, gigawatt-scale data centres. Reliance have already started constructing multi-gigawatt AI-ready data centres at Jamnagar.
- Over 120 megawatts will come online in the second half of 2026, paving a clear path to gigawatt-scale compute for AI training and large-scale inference. Two, our green energy advantage. We have up to 10 gigawatts of ready green power surplus, anchored by solar in Kutch and Andhra Pradesh.
19. AI Summit drew $250bn investment commitments, 5 lakh visitors: Vaishnaw
- Calling the AI Impact Summit a “landmark moment for India’s global leadership in Artificial Intelligence”, IT Minister (February 20, 2026) said the summit attracted $250 billion investments in AI infrastructure and saw more than five lakh visitors.
- Delhi Declaration’ for AI among several countries will be unveiled on Saturday (February 21, 2026). Over 70 countries have signed it, he said, adding that he hoped to surpass the tally achieved in Paris last year at the AI Action Summit. Ministerial delegations from some countries are still taking a call on signing the pact.
- The Minister appeared to indicate that both the U.S. and China have signed the declaration. “All the major countries have already signed.
20. Sundar Pichai announces new Google AI professional certificate course under India -America connect initiative
- Google CEO Sundar Pichai has announced a new Google AI professional certificate course. The course will be launched under the India-America Connect initiative.
- The course will be framed in collaboration with Wadhwani AI to reach students and early-career professionals. This course will help people master AI in their work.
- Google is establishing a full-stack AI hub, part of our USD 15 billion infrastructure investment in India, hub will house gigawatt-scale compute and a new international subsea cable gateway, bringing jobs and cutting-edge AI to people and businesses across India.
