2471. Isro chairman V Narayanan launches thermal research centre at IIT-M
- On 17 march,2025, V Narayanan, chairman of Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) launched a new fluid and thermal research centre at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-M) .
- The centre, named ‘Shri S Ramakrishnan Centre of Excellence in Fluid and Thermal Science Research’ is housed at the Department of Mechanical Engineering and will focus on critical advancements in spacecraft and launch vehicle thermal management.
- Scientists and engineers from the Isro will work alongside faculty and researchers from IIT Madras to address complex thermal challenges in space applications. The centre will also focus on encouraging Isro scientists to pursue advanced degrees at IIT Madras while fostering industry-academia collaborations.
2472. From imports to exports: How India is becoming a global toy manufacturing hub
- on 1 march 2025, It was reported that, The Indian toy industry has, in the last decade, experienced a revolutionary change from a net importer to a rising manufacturing giant of the world.
- From 2015-16, India's toy sector consisted of about 15,000 units manufacturing toys worth Rs 1,688 crore with about 35,000 employees. At 2022-23, the reliance on imported inputs had declined from 33% to a lowly 12%, reflecting India's growing self-sufficiency in toy production.
- The Indian government has devised policies to encourage domestic production. These encompass the "Make in India" policy and levying of higher import duties on foreign-made toys, lowering imports' competitiveness and spurring local production.

2473. Isro develops high-speed microprocessors for space missions
- On 18 march 2025 The Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) and the Semiconductor Laboratory (SCL) in Chandigarh have jointly developed two cutting-edge 32-bit microprocessors, Vikram 3201 and Kalpana 3201, specifically designed for space applications
- The first production lots of these microprocessors were handed over to Dr. V. Narayanan, Secretary, Department of Space and Chairman, Isro.
- Vikram 3201 is India's first fully indigenous 32-bit microprocessor qualified for use in the harsh conditions of launch vehicles.
- 32-bit microprocessor is a type of microprocessor with a data bus, registers, and address bus that are 32 bits wide. This means it can process 32 bits of data at a time, handle memory addresses of up to 4 GB, and execute 32-bit instructions.
2474. 360 km of bullet train project completed, Maharashtra section progressing: Vaishnaw
- On 1 march, 2025, Union Railway Minister of India inspected the Ahmedabad Railway Station Redevelopment Project and announced that 360 km of the Bullet Train project has been completed, with the Maharashtra section making significant progress.
- "The work of almost 360 km of the Bullet Train has been completed, and the loss of two and a half years that we had due to the permission denied by (Uddhav) Thackeray, we are trying to make up that as well said' Union Railway Minister of India
- Union Railway Minister of India further added that the Maharashtra section of the Bullet Train is progressing well, with "almost 2 km of the undersea tunnel ready".
2475. India’s core sector growth remains steady at 4.6% in January
- On 28 February,2025, It was Reported that India's infrastructure output, which accounts for about two-fifths of industrial production, remained steady at 4.6% in January, slightly lower than 4.8% in December.
- The growth was driven by increased production in cement, refinery products, coal, steel, fertilizers, and electricity.
- While cement saw strong growth due to demand from the real estate and roads sector, coal, steel, and electricity growth remained subdued. Given this trend, IIP growth is expected to be in the range of 4-5%," said Madan Sabnavis, chief economist, Bank of Baroda.

2476. Adani Green crosses 12GW renewable capacity, added 275 MW solar project
- On 28 February 2025, Adani Green Energy (AGEL) said its total operational renewable energy generation capacity has increased to 12,258.1 MW with the commissioning of an additional 275 MW of solar power project at Khavda, Gujarat.
- Based on the relevant clearances, it was decided on February 27, 2025 to operationalize the plant and commence power generation from February 28, 2025, it added.
- Adani Green Energy is developing the world's largest renewable energy plant of 30,000 MW on the barren waste land at Khavda in Kutch, Gujarat.
2477. In A First, India Is Now Exporting Apple Components To China And Vietnam - Thanks To 'Make In India'
- For the first time, India has begun exporting electronic components to China and Vietnam for the manufacturing of Apple products, marking a strategic shift in the global supply chain.
- By exporting key parts, India is gaining a foothold in global electronics manufacturing, with industry experts projecting that the country could achieve $35-40 billion in component exports by 2030-31.
- While it's mainly components like enclosures now, the 'Make in India' initiative promises more advanced component manufacturing in the future," said Counterpoint’s Shah.

2478. PLI boost: India exporting high-end electronics now, says Ashwini Vaishnaw
- On 28 February,2025, India is making significant strides in the electronics sector as the country begins exporting high-end electronic components to global manufacturing hubs, Union Minister for Railways, Electronics and IT, said .
- The PLI 2.0 scheme and Make in India initiative have encouraged domestic production and reduced dependency on imports, allowing Indian manufacturers to compete on the global stage.
- Last month, the government said that the PLI 2.0 scheme for IT hardware has generated Rs 10,000 crore in production and created 3,900 jobs within just 18 months of its launch.

2479. French defence major Safran expands its footprint in India with second office in New Delhi

2480. IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw tests a truly made-in-India laptop with international standards
- On 26 February,2025, Union minister for railways, information and broadcasting, and electronics and information technology, shared a video of him testing a completely made-in-India laptop by a company called VVDN Technologies.
- Puneet Agarwal, CEO of VVDN Technologies, in the video shared by the IT minister, says, “Hardware, motherboard, mechanicals, body or chassis, and software are made in India and are on par with international standards.”
- The specifications of one such laptop include a 14-inch display, an Intel Celeron processor, up to 256GB of SATA SSD storage, and up to 8GB of RAM, running on Microsoft’s latest Windows 11 operating system.
