2421. India ranks 4th globally with 85,698 super rich, behind US, China and Japan
- On 5 march 2025 India has emerged as a leading global wealth hub, with a current population of 85,698 High Net-Worth Individuals (HNWIs), placing it fourth globally, behind only the US, China, and Japan, according to the latest Global Wealth report by property consulting firm Knight Frank.
- According to the latest wealth report, the number of HNWIs—defined as individuals with at least US$1 million in investable assets—rose by 4.4% globally in 2024, reaching over 2.3 million people
- The population of ultra-high-net-worth individuals (UHNWIs), those with assets exceeding US$100 million, surpassed 100,000 for the first time, reflecting a broader trend of growing wealth across the world.

2422. DRDO conducts high-altitude trials of integrated life-support system for pilots onboard Tejas jets
- On 5 march 2025 The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully conducted high-altitude trials of an indigenous life support system for pilots onboard Tejas light combat aircraft.
- The Defence Bio-Engineering & Electro Medical Laboratory, a Bengaluru-based lab under the DRDO successfully conducted high-altitude trials of the Indigenous On-Board Oxygen Generating System (OBOGS)-based Integrated Life Support System (ILSS) for the LCA Tejas aircraft .
- The ILSS underwent rigorous testing on the LCA-prototype vehicle-3 aircraft of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) meeting stringent aeromedical standards in varied flight conditions, including altitudes of up to 50,000 feet above mean sea level and high-G maneuvers,
2423. MoRTH Releases Rs 1,500 Crore for NHAI Projects in Northeast
- On 3 March,2025, It was reported that, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has allocated and released Rs 1,500 crore to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for projects under National Highways (Original)-NE during the Financial Year 2024-25.
- According to a communiqué from MoRTH, the fund has been released under the NH(O)-NE Scheme to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for NH works entrusted to NHAI during the current financial year.
- The communiqué further stated that the total Budget Estimates (BE) provision under NH(O)-NE for the financial year 2024-25 is Rs 14,830 crore, out of which an amount of Rs. 10,905 crore has been allocated.
2424. Solar Industries India bags order worth Rs 239 cr from Ministry of Defence
- On 4 March 2025 Solar Industries India announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Solar Defence and Aerospace, has signed a contract worth Rs 239 crore with the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, for the supply of multi-mode handgrenade.
- The project involves the supply of multi-mode handgrenades for the Ministry of Defence, to be completed within 2025
- Solar Industries India (SIIL) is the flagship company of the Solar Group. SIIL, along with its subsidiaries, manufactures bulk explosives, packaged explosives, and initiating systems, which find application in the mining, infrastructure, and construction industries.
2425. Air India Express launches Hindon flights, eyes London connectivity
- On 1 March,2025, Air India Express operated its first Kolkata-Hindon-Goa flight, making its 180-seater Boeing 737 MAX the biggest passenger aircraft to operate from this defence enclave.
- While inaugurating the service, Union aviation minister K Rammohan Naidu said, "One day, I hope to see Hindon to London flights." The direct connectivity from western UP's Hindon comes months before the Noida International Airport at Greater Noida's Jewar becomes operational later this summer.
- The services from Hindon will complement our extensive operations from IGI Airport, from where we serve 18 domestic and four international destinations."

2426. Bhoomi Puja held for ISRO's 2nd spaceport at Kulasekarapattinam in Tamil nadu
- On 5 March 2025 The Bhoomi Puja was performed for construction of ISRO's second spaceport at Kulasekarapattinam in the southern Thoothukudi district of Tamil Nadu.
- The spaceport, which will cater only to launch Small Satellite Launch Vehicles (SSLVs) to place satellites in Low Earyh Orbit (LEO), as main missions involving PSLV, GSLV and LVM-3 rockets
- The second rocket launch centre will come up in a 2,233 acre area at a cost of about Rs 950 crores and it would herald a new era in India's space exploration journey.

2427. India's Rooftop Solar Installations Hit Record 3.2 GW in 2024
- On 5 March 2025 , India witnessed a significant expansion in rooftop solar capacity in 2024, with installations reaching 3.2 GW, marking an 86 per cent increase compared to the 2023.
- Mercom India Research’s Q4 & Annual 2024 India Rooftop Solar Market Report. The surge in capacity was largely driven by the widespread implementation of the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana.
- The majority of these installations were executed under the capital expenditure (CAPEX) model, which represented 88 per cent of the total capacity added, while the remaining installations were carried out under the operational expenditure (OPEX) or renewable energy service company (RESCO) model.
- , Gujarat led the rooftop solar capacity additions with a 36 per cent share, followed by Maharashtra at 20 per cent and Kerala at 9 per cent. As a result of these expansions, India’s cumulative rooftop solar capacity reached 13.7 GW by the end of December 2024.
2428. Govt Grants Rs 45.22 Crore to JK, Ladakh for Mini Hydropower Projects
- On March 20, 2025, the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy announced that it has provided ₹45.22 crore to Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) and Ladakh over the past five years to develop small and mini hydropower projects.
- Funding Breakdown: J&K received ₹20.31 crore, with the highest annual allocation of ₹9.50 crore in 2021-22. Ladakh received ₹24.91 crore, with the highest annual allocation of ₹8.80 crore in 2021-22.
- This initiative underscores the central government’s commitment to renewable energy expansion in J&K and Ladakh, promoting sustainable infrastructure development in these strategically important regions.
2429. Srinagar to Get River Cruise and 10 Floating Jetties to Boost River Tourism in J&K
- On March 20, 2025, the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) to develop river cruise tourism, aiming to boost local employment, economy, and tourism.
- Key Features of the Project: Development of a river cruise system in Srinagar. Construction of 10 floating jetties along the river. Total estimated investment: ₹100 crore.
- This will strengthen the tourism industry by offering a unique waterway travel experience. It will also create new job opportunities for local residents and boost economic growth through enhanced connectivity and infrastructure development.

2430. India's warehousing and logistics sector witnesses 203% investment surge in 2024
- On 20 march,2025, It was reported that, The Indian warehousing and logistics sector received investments worth $1.96 billion in 2024, accounting for 29 per cent of the total institutional investment garnered in the real estate sector last year.
- According to Vestian's report, investment inflows surged to 203 per cent year-on-year in the sector, driven by the growing demand for warehouses amid the rapid expansion of the quick commerce sector.
- The government's continued focus on mega infrastructure projects is expected to further propel growth in the sector.
