661. Indian Army Boosts Community-Led Adventure Tourism in North Sikkim
- It was reported on November 27, 2025, that the Indian Army provided specialised high-altitude equipment to residents of Yumthang Valley, North Sikkim, to boost community-led adventure tourism. The supplies, including camping gear, climbing essentials, safety equipment, and cooking sets, will help villagers organise safe and structured adventure activities for 20-25 daily tourists.
- The initiative follows the Army’s earlier outreach efforts in Sikkim, such as high-altitude rescue training, medical support, and eco-tourism development around Gurudongmar Lake, Chungthang, and Thangu. Local leaders said the support would enhance youth confidence, create sustainable livelihoods, and formalise tourism operations.
- According to the Indian Army, the broader goal is to promote safe trekking, well-guided camping experiences, and environmentally responsible tourism across North Sikkim’s high-altitude terrain.

662. Government Approves Tex-RAMPS Research & Innovation Scheme
- On November 27, 2025, the Central Government approved a new central sector scheme, Textiles Focused Research, Assessment, Monitoring, Planning and Start-up (Tex-RAMPS), aimed at boosting research, innovation, and competitiveness in the country's textiles sector. According to a press release by the Ministry of Textiles, the scheme carries a total outlay of Rs 305 crore for the period 2025-26 to 2030-31. Tex-RAMPS will be fully funded by the ministry and will focus on future-proofing Bharat's textiles and apparel ecosystem.
- The scheme also aims to nurture high-value textile start-ups through incubators, hackathons, and collaboration between academia and industry.
- The government expects the Tex-RAMPS initiative to boost Bharat's global competitiveness, strengthen research and innovation frameworks, improve data-driven policy decisions, create new employment opportunities, and deepen collaboration among States, industry, academia, and government bodies.

663. PM Inaugurates Indian Space Start-Up Skyroot's Infinity Campus, Unveils Rocket Vikram-I
- On November 27, 2025, the Prime Minister inaugurated Skyroot’s Infinity Campus in Hyderabad, Telangana. The PM also unveiled Skyroot’s first orbital rocket, Vikram I, which has the capability to launch satellites into orbit.
- Skyroot’s Infinity Campus is a state-of-the-art facility with around 200,000 square feet of workspace for designing, developing, integrating and testing multiple launch vehicles, with the capacity to build one orbital rocket every month.
- Skyroot is Bharat’s leading private space company, founded by Pawan Chandana and Bharath Dhaka, both alumni of the Indian Institutes of Technology and former ISRO scientists turned entrepreneurs. In November 2022, Skyroot launched its sub-orbital rocket, Vikram S, becoming the first Indian private company to launch a rocket into space.

664. IIT Madras Develops Nation's First Indigenous Vessel Traffic Management System For Ports
- Reported on November 26, 2025, IIT Madras researchers unveiled Bharat’s first Indigenous Vessel Traffic Management System (VTMS) for ports. Developed entirely by the National Technology Centre for Ports, Waterways and Coasts (NTCPWC) as per the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways' requirements, the system is already operational at Vizhinjam International Seaport in Kerala. It is also being considered for deployment at two more ports on the western coast.
- The indigenous VTMS brings several significant benefits, primarily giving the Government of India full strategic control over source codes, databases, and the entire technology stack. With complete access to technical knowledge, the country can build a skilled workforce with advanced expertise, reduce foreign exchange outflow, and eliminate long-term dependency on private or foreign vendors. The system also ensures that upgrades, maintenance, and scaling remain under national control.
- Key features of the system include an open-source design, secure data handling, and OEM-independent interfacing with radar and voice systems. It offers defence-grade security, low deployment and maintenance costs, and the flexibility to integrate global best practices.
665. PM inaugurates Safran’s aircraft engine MRO facility in Hyderabad
- On November 26, 2025, the Prime Minister inaugurated Safran Aircraft Engine Services India (SAESI), the country’s first deep-level aircraft engine MRO facility set up by a global OEM. Located at the GMR Aerospace and Industrial Park in Hyderabad, the centre marks a major step in Bharat’s push to become a global hub for aircraft engine maintenance.
- The SAESI facility, spread across 45,000 sq. m within the GMR Aerospace and Industrial Park, has been built with an investment of around ₹1,300 crore. It is designed to service up to 300 LEAP engines a year and is expected to employ more than 1,000 technicians and engineers by 2035. The LEAP engine powers Airbus A320neo and Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.
- According to the government, the project supports Bharat’s goal of building indigenous MRO capabilities, reducing foreign exchange outflow, and strengthening supply-chain resilience.
666. Union Cabinet approves Rs 9,858-crore Pune Metro Phase-2 expansion
- On November 26, 2025, the Union Cabinet approved the next phase of Pune’s Metro Rail expansion, clearing two new corridors under Phase 2: Line 4 (Kharadi-Hadapsar-Swargate-Khadakwasla) and Line 4A (Nal Stop-Warje-Manik Baug). This comes after earlier approvals for Line 2A and Line 2B, marking another major step in strengthening Pune’s public transport network.
- Together, the new corridors will cover 31.636 km with 28 elevated stations, connecting IT hubs, commercial centres, educational zones, and major residential areas across East, South, and West Pune. The project, estimated at ₹9,857.85 crore, is scheduled for completion in five years with funding from the central and state governments along with bilateral and multilateral agencies.
- As part of the city’s Comprehensive Mobility Plan, the new lines will integrate with existing metro routes and major transport hubs such as Kharadi Bypass, Nal Stop, Swargate, and Hadapsar Railway Station, ensuring smooth multimodal travel across metro, rail, and bus networks.
667. Cabinet approves ₹7,280 crore scheme to promote manufacturing of rare earth magnets
- On November 26, 2025, the Union Cabinet approved a ₹7,280-crore incentive scheme to boost Bharat’s domestic production of rare earth magnets and reduce dependence on China. The initiative aims to address the current shortage of magnets and build a manufacturing capacity of 6,000 metric tons per year.
- The seven-year program comes at a time when China, which processes nearly 90% of the world’s rare earth output. Bharat plans to establish five integrated manufacturing units of 1,200 tons annual capacity each within the next three years, strengthening its position in the global magnet supply chain.
- Calling it a "strategic win," Union Minister of Railways said that rare earth materials and semiconductor chips are essential for modern manufacturing. The scheme has already drawn interest from major Indian companies, including Vedanta Group and JSW Group, according to earlier Bloomberg reports.

- INS Mahe, India’s first Mahe-class Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft, was commissioned into the Indian Navy on 24 November 2025 in Mumbai.
- INS Mahe is specifically designed for littoral (near-shore) anti-submarine operations, capable of operating in shallow waters with high agility, precision, and stealth. The ship’s combat systems integrate advanced sonar, tracking technologies, and weaponry into a compact and efficient platform, significantly boosting the Indian Navy’s capabilities in submarine hunting and maritime surveillance.
- INS Mahe is a true symbol of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. The vessel was designed and constructed by Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) in Kochi and is the first of eight Mahe-class ships under this ASW-SWC project. The ship showcases over 80% indigenous content, featuring contributions from Indian defence majors like BEL, L&T Defence, Mahindra Defence, NPOL, and more than 20 MSMEs.

670. Arunachal records botanical breakthrough with discovery of new hoya species
- 25 November 2025, A new plant species, Hoya dawodiensis, has been discovered in the remote Vijoynagar region of Changlang district, Arunachal Pradesh, marking a major scientific milestone for the state’s botanical research.
- Researchers also recorded Hoya yingjiangensis for the first time in India and documented Hoya nummularia for the first time in Arunachal Pradesh, further expanding India’s floral diversity.
- Officials stated that these findings strengthen the state’s botanical baseline and support future conservation planning, reaffirming Arunachal Pradesh as one of the world’s most biodiverse regions.
