22981. Guv sore over KSU threat on migrants
- India has started manufacturing indigenous swabs for Covid-19 testing, with two firms —Tulips and a Mumbai-based Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) — getting a green signal from the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) and the National Institute for Virology in Pune.
- The swabs — used for collection of oral and throat samples from patients — will cost one-tenth of the imported swabs currently in use, bringing down the cost of Covid-19 testing.
- The swabs imported from US and China cost between Rs 20 and Rs 30 apiece. But even their supply started drying up in last week of April. The desi polyester swabs will cost between Rs 1.4 and Rs 3.5 each. Reliance provided the raw material and Johnson & Johnson India provided pro-bono scientific expertise and R&D.

22982. HRD minister launches ‘world’s most affordable’ Covid-19 test kit developed by IIT Delhi
- (HRD) Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and Minister of State (HRD) Sanjay Dhotre launched a low-cost Covid-19 test developed by Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT) Delhi .
- The test, Corosure, has been billed as the world’s most affordable probe free RT-PCR based Covid-19 diagnostic kit. The total cost of the kit roughly comes to around Rs 650.
- The product is approved by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI).

22983. आईआईआईएम जम्मू ने विकसित की कोरोना की सस्ती टेस्टिंग किट, मंजूरी के लिए आईसीएमआर को भेजी
- कोरोना संक्रमण की जांच अब जल्दी, सटीक और पहले से मौजूद तकनीक के मुकाबले ज्यादा सस्ती होगी। इंडियन इंस्टीट्यूट आफ इंटिग्रेटिव मेडिसिन (आईआईआईएम) जम्मू ने पीसीआर तकनीक के विकल्प के तौर पर आरटी-लैंप (रिवर्स ट्रांसक्रिप्टेस-लूप मीडिएटेड आइसोथर्मल एंप्लीकेशन) टेस्ट किट विकसित की है।
- मंजूरी के लिए टेस्ट किट इंडियन काउंसिल फार मेडिकल रिसर्च को भेज दी गई है। आईआईआईएम जम्मू के निदेशक डॉ. डी श्रीनिवास ने कहा कि इस तकनीक में आरटी-पीसीआर टेस्टिंग किट की तुलना में संवेदनशील मशीन की जरूरत नहीं है। इसी वजह से टेस्टिंग किट सस्ती होगी। हालांकि अभी तक इसका मूल्य तय नहीं किया गया है।
- आईआईआईएम जम्मू ने रिलायंस इंडस्ट्रीज लिमिटेड के साथ मिलकर किट को विकसित किया है। डॉ. श्रीनिवास ने कहा कि मौजूदा हालात में संक्रमण जांच का दायरा बढ़ाना जरूरी है। ज्यादा जनसंख्या होने की वजह से जांच उपकरणों की उपलब्धता बढ़ानी होगी। ऐसी स्थिति में इस किट को मंजूरी मिलने में कोई दिक्कत नहीं होगी।

22984. India's new paper Covid-19 test could be a ‘game changer’
- A team of scientists in India has developed an inexpensive paper-based test for coronavirus that could give fast results similar to a pregnancy test. The BBC's Soutik Biswas and Krutika Pathi unpack how it works.
- The test, named after a famous Indian fictional detective, is based on a gene-editing technology called Crispr. Scientists estimate that the kit - called Feluda - would return results in under an hour and cost 500 rupees (about $6.75; £5.25).
- "This is a simple, precise, reliable, scalable and frugal test," Professor K Vijay Raghavan, principal scientific adviser to the Indian government, told the BBC.

- आवाज से कोरोना टेस्ट का भी हो चुका है ट्रायल - भारत और इजरायल ने संयुक्त रूप से 4 टेस्ट टेक्नॉलजी का ट्रायल कर चुके हैं। भारत में बड़ी तादाद में इन टेस्ट के लिए सैंपल लिए गए। इन तकनीकों में ब्रेथ ऐनालाइजर और वॉइस टेस्ट भी शामिल हैं। इनमें कोरोना का तुरंत पता लगाने की क्षमता है।
- वैक्सीन को लेकर दोनों देशों के बीच तालमेल के सवाल पर माल्का ने कहा कि दोनों देश हमेश से रिसर्च और टेक्नॉलजी को एक दूसरे से शेयर करते रहे हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि हम एक दूसरे का सहयोग और समर्थन कर रहे हैं। इजरायली राजदूत ने कहा कि भारत में कोरोना वैक्सीन का हब बनने के लिहाज से तमाम सुविधाएं मौजूद हैं। उन्होंने उम्मीद जताई कि जब भी विश्वसनीय, सुरक्षित और कारगर वैक्सीन बनेगी तब उसमें से ज्यादातर का उत्पादन भारत में होगा। माल्का ने कहा कि भारत जब भी वैक्सीन बनाएगा तब इजरायल की जरूरतों का भी ख्याल रखेगा।

22986. Minister says India produced over 150 mln N-95 masks, 60 mln PPE suits
- Federal textile minister Smriti Irani said India produced over 150 million N-95 masks and 60 million personal protective equipment (PPE) suits, amid the COVID-19 pandemic in the country, officials said Saturday.
- Irani said India has exported over 20 million PPE suits and 40 million N-95 masks.
- the federal health ministry said the number of COVID-19 cases in the country has reached 9,826,775 and the death toll has risen to 142,628.

22987. Centeral prison inmates make over 34,000 masks in 2 weeks
- More than 34,000 masks which were manufactured by inmates of the Madurai Central Prison in the last two weeks were handed over to various government agencies such as the police and health departments
- An official from the Madurai Central Prison said that out of 34,000 masks, 17,000 were sold at Rs 10 each to various government agencies.
- The work started on March 25 and since then around 40 inmates are working on the production. It includes 10 inmates from women’s prison on the same premises.

22988. SHG women sew over 10,000 masks
- The North Goa district rural development agency (DRDA) through its self-help-groups has supplied 2,000 masks across the state and are in the process of making more masks to help essential workers protect themselves from coronavirus infection.
- More than 60 women from our SHG are involved in the stitching of these masks. We have received an order for 5,000 more masks
- They are currently in the process of supplying 10,000 masks to urban health centres, primary health centres, municipal corporations and the Goa police.

22989. सीपीआरआई शिमला ने आलू से बनाई जलेबी, आठ माह तक नहीं होगी खराब
- केंद्रीय आलू अनुसंधान संस्थान (सीपीआरआई) शिमला के वैज्ञानिकों ने आलू की लजीज और करारी जलेबी तैयार की है। अभी तक आलू के चिप्स, फ्रेंच फ्राई, कुकीज और दलिया ही तैयार किया जाता रहा है, लेकिन अब उपभोक्ताओं के लिए आलू की स्वादिष्ट और कुरकुरी जलेबी भी खाने के लिए मिलेगी। आलू की इस जलेबी का आठ माह तक स्वाद नहीं बिगडे़गा और चासनी में डुबोकर इसका लुत्फ उठाया जा सकेगा।
- सीपीआरआई के वैज्ञानिकों ने आलू से जलेबी बनाने के फार्मूले का पेटेंट भी करा दिया है। यानी, आलू की जलेबी का फार्मूला बेचकर संस्थान अतिरिक्त कमाई भी कर सकेगा। जलेबी की बिक्री के लिए नामी कंपनियों से करार किया जा रहा है। आईटीसी जैसे नामी कंपनियों से आलू की जलेबी के लिए बातचीत की जा रही है, ताकि डिब्बा बंद जलेबी परोसी जा सके।
- आलू की जलेबी बनाने में आलू छिलके के साथ इस्तेमाल किया जाता है। छिलके में ज्यादा फाइबर होता है और आलू का स्टार्च जलेबी में कुरकुरापन लाता है।
22990. क्रिकेट की नाकामी ने निकाली खेती में कामयाबी की राह
- सपनों के टूटने से किस तरह नए सपने संजोते हुए जिंदगी को सफलता की राह दिखाई जाती है, यह अरविंद से सीखना चाहिए। बचपन से क्रिकेटर बनने का जुनून था। इस सपने के साथ वे वर्ष 2019 में बेंगलुरु गए। मगर राह नहीं खुल पाई। घर लौटे तो निराशा में डूबे हुए थे।
- फुफेरे भाई ने उन्हें खेती करने के लिए प्रेरित किया। बात जम गई। अरविंद ने पुश्तैनी साढ़े तीन एकड़ बंजर जमीन को खेती योग्य बनाया और टमाटर लगाया। इस तरह सात माह में ही उन्होंने करीब 12 लाख रुपये की आमदनी कर ली है। इतना ही नहीं, वे करीब 60 लोगों को रोजगार भी दे रहे हैं।
- अब तक वे करीब 22 लाख रुपये का टमाटर बेच चुके हैं। इसमें अब तक का सारा खर्च करीब 10 लाख रुपये निकाल दें तो भी 12 लाख रुपये तक का मुनाफा हुआ है।
