22861. Medical institute in Kerala develops RT-PCR kit with higher COVID detection accuracy

- The Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST) in Kerala, an institute under the Department of Science and Technology has developed a multiplex RT-PCR kit, where the validation shows the kit has 97.3 per cent sensitivity and 100 per cent specificity in the Covid-19 detection.
- This means it is unlikely to show any false positives and has only a 2.7 per cent chance of showing a false negative.
- The Indian Council of Medical Research has validated the kit at the National Institute of Virology in Pune, and found it satisfactory.

- ICMR ने जांच के लिए भी एडवाइजरी जारी की है, जिसमें फिजूल जांच नहीं करने की सलाह दी गई है

- दिग्गज दवा कंपनी Cipla ने कोरोना वायरस की टेस्टिंग को लेकर तीसरा प्रॉडक्ट पेश किया है. सिप्ला ने गुरुवार को अपनी RT-PCR टेस्ट किट Viragen के कॉमर्शियलाइजेशन का एलान किया है.
- कंपनी ने इसके लिए Ubio Biotechnology Systems के साथ साझेदारी की है. इसकी सप्लाई 25 मई से शुरू हो जाएगी. सिप्ला ने रेगुलेटरी फाइलिंग में कहा कि इस लांच से देश में टेस्टिंग सर्विसेज और कैपेसिटी से जुड़ी चुनौतियों से निपटने में मदद मिलेगी. इसके अलावा डायग्नोस्टिक स्पेस में कंपनी का विस्तार होगा.
- ICMR ने होम टेस्टिंग किट COVISELF (Pathocatch) को मंजूरी दे दी है. इस किट के जरिये घर में ही नाक से कोरोना जांच के लिए सैंपल ले सकते हैं. ICMR ने कोरोना टेस्ट किट को लेकर नई एडवाइजरी भी दी है.

- In a major decision that is going to change the entire domestic rooftop solar market, the Government on Friday allowed people to install rooftop solar plants on their own and get the net metering from the DISCOM concerned and 40 % subsidy from the Centre.
- The Ministry has directed all the distribution companies to make sure that net metering is provided within 15 days of the information being received, the Ministry said. Further, the subsidy to be given by the Government—40% for the rooftop of upto 3 KW capacity and 20% beyond that upto 10 KW would be credited automatically to the account of the householder by the DISCOM within 30 days of the installation, the Ministry said.
- The intimation to the DISCOM of the installation of the rooftop can be given either in the material form through a letter or on the designated website which has been set up by every DISCOM and by the Govt. of India for the Roof Top Scheme.

- NEW DELHI: In a major boost to drone use in farming, the Union agriculture ministry has issued funding guidelines to make this technology affordable by assisting in purchase, hiring and demonstrations of agriculture drones.
- The “sub-mission on agricultural mechanisation” (SMAM) scheme envisages granting upto 100% or Rs 10 lakh as grant funding for drone purchase by ICAR institutions, Krishi Vigyan Kendras and State agriculture universities. It provides for 75% grant funding for drone purchase to farmer producer organisations (FPOs). The financial aid and grants shall be applicable till March 31, 2023.
- “Rs 6,000 per hectare (will) be given as contingent expenditure to implementing agencies that hire drones for demonstrations. Rs 3,000 per hectare to be given as contingent expenditure to implementing agencies that buy drones for drone demonstrations. Forty per cent or up to Rs 4 lakhs of grant funding for drone purchase to existing custom hiring centres which are set up by Cooperative Society of Farmers, FPOs & Rural entrepreneurs,” Drone federation of India president Smit Shah said.
