2203. Delhi govt unveils ₹500 crore elevated road project
- ON 5 April 2025 he Delhi government has announced the construction of a 5.5-kilometer-long elevated road in the Pushta Sonia Vihar area, aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving connectivity in the trans-Yamuna region.
- The project, with an estimated cost of ₹500 crore, has received approval from the Chief Minister and Public Works Department (PWD) Minister .
- The elevated road will stretch from Nanaksar Gurudwara to Shani Mandir (UP border), offering relief to thousands of daily commuters.
2204. Northern Zone Generates Record Revenue By Selling Scrap
- On 5 April 2025 The Northern Railway has set a record in scrap disposal by earning a revenue of Rs 781.07. This outperforms the Railway Board’s annual target of Rs 530 crore by 147.36 percent .
- The earnings have made the Northern Railway the only division to cross the scrap sale figure of Rs 700 crore.
- The fourth consecutive year when Northern Railway has registered total sales of more than Rs 600 crore and has been ranked first among all Zonal Railways and Production units for four consecutive years.
2205. Indian Railways and DMRC Sign MoU for Automatic Wheel Profile Measurement Systems
- On April 4, 2025, Indian Railways signed an important agreement with the Delhi Metro Rail Cooperation (DMRC). The goal is to install smart machines called Automatic Wheel Profile Measurement Systems (AWPMS) to check train wheels quickly and safely
- The Ministry of Railways said this is a big step in modern railway maintenance. It will help in reducing the time needed for checking and fixing trains.
- The overall quality of train services will also improved. With smart technology like AWPMS, trains were able to run more safely and on time.
2206. Centre sanctions projects worth Rs 620 crore for rural roads in northeast, hill states
- On 5 April 2025 The Ministry of Rural Development has sanctioned projects worth Rs 620.63 crore to construct rural roads in the northeastern region, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Odisha to boost economic development in remote areas.
- The investment of Rs 474.71 crore will be made under the PMGSY-III scheme for rural roads in Manipur, Mizoram, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand States under PMGSY-III.
- The initiative aims to improve access to essential services like healthcare, education, and markets. It will also enhance connectivity in rural areas, bridging the gap between remote villages and urban centres and foster economic development, trade, and commerce in the region
2207. Haryana collects ₹39,153 crore as SGST in FY24-25, exceeds budget target
- On 5 April 2025 The excise and taxation department collected ₹39,153 crore as state goods and services tax (SGST) in 2024-25, exceeding the target for the fiscal year by ₹1,655 crore
- Haryana delivered exceptional performance in GST collections, surpassing its GST revenue targets for FY25 as well as the national growth averages.
- Haryana’s total gross GST collection for March 2025 stands at ₹10,648 crore, reflecting a 12% increase year-on-year. The national average growth rate for March 2025 is 8.79 %, placing Haryana at the sixth highest spot in growth percentage among major states

2208. Defence Minister inaugurated Indian Ocean Ship Sagar initiative at Karwar Naval Base
- On 5 April 2025 Defence Minister inaugurated the newly developed infrastructure at the Karwar Naval Base in Karnataka which will enhance India's maritime security.
- "SAGAR' stands for Security And Growth for All in the Region. It is an initiative by the Government of India for mutual cooperation and security and safety of mariners in the Indian Ocean region."
- The launched of IOS SAGAR initiative, INS Sunayna's Commanding Officer, Kamal Singh highlighted the significance of the project and explained that SAGAR is an initiative by the Government of India aimed at enhancing mutual cooperation and ensuring the safety and security of mariners in the Indian Ocean region.
2209. Isro’s POEM-4, from SpaDeX mission, re-enters Earth’s atmosphere
- On 4 April 2025 The Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) late Friday confirmed that the PSLV Orbital Experimental Module (POEM-4) successfully re-entered Earth’s atmosphere and impacted the Indian Ocean.
- The controlled re-entry marks another achievement in Isro’s ongoing commitment to mitigate space debris and promote sustainable space operations. “The successful re-entry reaffirms Isro’s prominent role in maintaining the long-term sustainability of the outer space environment and furthers the objectives of the Debris Free Space Mission (DFSM)
- POEM-4, the specially configured upper stage of the PSLV-C60 rocket, was launched on Dec 30, 2024, as part of the Space Docking Experiment (SpaDeX) mission. After deploying the satellites at an altitude of 475km, POEM-4 remained in a similar orbit.
- Isro engineers subsequently performed engine restarts to de-orbit the module to a nearly circular orbit at 350km with a 55.2° inclination. Following this manoeuvre, the PS4 stage was passivated by venting remaining fuel to minimise risks of accidental break-up.
