21691. As many as 13 investors put in EoIs for acquiring Reliance Commercial Finance
- As many as 13 global and domestic investors have submitted expressions of interest for acquiring Reliance Commercial Finance Ltd (RCFL) Lenders led by Bank of Baroda had invited bids for RCFL to recover unpaid loans and the last date of submitting the EoI was August 11.
- Capri Global, India RF, JM Finance ARC, Edelweiss ARC, UV ARC, Urgo Capital, ARCIL, Authum Investment & Infra Ltd, Assets Care and Reconstruction Enterprise, CFM ARC, Invest ARC, Rare ARC and International Asset Reconstruction Company submitted expressions of interest (EoIs).
- The bid process is being run by Deloitte as the resolution advisor, and interested parties were to submit an expression of interest (EoI) by August 11, according to the notice.

21692. Indian Railways' private train project on fast track as 23 firms including Bombardier, Alstom show interest
- The Indian Railways’ plan to run private trains in the country is getting the attention of both domestic and international players like Alston, Bombardier, GMR ,L&T. As many as 23 companies participated in an official pre-application online conference for running private trains on 12 clusters.
- Among international players Bombardier, Alstom, Siemens attended a conference while among domestic players which showed interest include BEML, IRCTC, Sterlite, GMR Infra, Medha Group, JKB Infrastructure, Bharat Forge, BEML, L&T Infra and Titagarh Wagons.
- The Railways ministry organized its first pre-application conference on private train project Tuesday which was attended by around 16 prospective applicants. For the first time, ever private players will be allowed to run passenger train services on 109 routes through induction of 151 trains. The project would entail an investment of Rs 30,000 crore and is expected to boost domestic manufacturing inline with the government’s 'Make in India' pitch.
21693. ByteDance in talks with India's Reliance for investment in TikTok: Report
- China's ByteDance is in early talks with Reliance Industries Ltd for an investment in its video-based app TikTok's business in India, TechCrunch reported on Thursday, citing sources.
- The two companies began conversations late last month and have not reached a deal yet, according to the report.
- Microsoft Corp has been in talks to acquire the U.S. operations of the video-sharing app.

- Micromax ने 74वें स्वतंत्रता दिवस के मौके पर अपने आधिकारिक ट्विटर अकाउंट पर वीडियो के साथ एक पोस्ट शेयर किया किया।
- कंपनी ने स्पष्ट तौर पर खुलासा किया है कि वह जल्द ही भारत में नए स्मार्टफोन्स लॉन्च करने वाली है। इसके साथ ही कंपनी के को-फाउंडर राहुल शर्मा ने भी अपने ट्वीट में लिखा है कि 'आइए नई शुरुआत करें।' इससे स्पष्ट होता है कि कंपनी बाजार में वापसी करने की तैयारी कर ली है और जल्द ही Micromax के नए स्मार्टफोन देखने को मिलेंगे।

21695. In likely loss for China, 24 companies plan to set up mobile phone factories in India
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government in March announced incentives that make niche firms -- electronics manufacturers -- eligible for a payment of 4%-6% of their incremental sales over the next five years.
- The result: about two dozen companies pledged $1.5 billion of investments to set up mobile-phone factories in the country. Besides Samsung, those that have shown interest are Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., known as Foxconn, Wistron Corp. and Pegatron Corp. India has also extended similar incentives to the pharmaceutical sector, and plans to cover more sectors, which may include automobiles, textiles, and food processing under the program.
- Vietnam remains the most favored destination, followed by Cambodia, Myanmar, Bangladesh and Thailand, according to a recent survey by Standard Chartered Plc.
21696. South Korean EV giant Edison Motors set to invest Rs 5,000 crore in UP
- South Korean company Edison Motors is looking to invest between Rs 3,500 crore and Rs 5,000 crore in Uttar Pradesh to set up an electric vehicle manufacturing plant in the coming months. The company is scouting for land near Lucknow and the Yamuna Expressway to set up the plant. `
- Managing director of the company, YK Lee, led a delegation to meet Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday to discuss the possibility of investing in the state. Lee said that work will be rolled out in three phases. In the first phase, the company is looking to invest Rs 500-700 crore, Rs 1,000-1,500 crore in the second phase and another Rs 2,000-Rs 3,000 in the third phase.
- it is likely that 2,000 people will be employed in the first phase, 3,000 in the second phase and about 5,000 in the third phase. The MD added that over 90% of the parts for the electric vehicles will be manufactured in UP. Not only will this help the MSME sector but would help to generate employment in the state.
21697. LOGISTICS FIRM DELHIVERY PLANS TO INVEST UP TO RS 300 CRORE, OVER TWO YEARS, FOR EXPANSION
- Our total capital investment over the next 18-24 months is going to be in the range of Rs 250-300 crore.We will continue to invest behind growing our trucking network.
- Logistics firm Delhivery is planning to invest up to Rs 300 crore in 18-24 months on expansion, including increasing fleet size and setting up of trucking hubs, in order to meet increased demand for more organised players in the sector in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic, according to a top company official.
- The company is planning to add around 150 trucks to its fleet apart from launching trucking terminals in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru as it sets eyes on clocking revenue close to Rs 7,000 crore in the next 24 months, up from Rs 2,800 crore last year.
21698. Railways plans four more DFCs by 2030 with total investment of Rs 1.8 lakh crore
- To create robust infrastructure for the country’s rail freight, the Railways is planning four more dedicated freight corridors of combined length of 4,000 km at a cost of Rs 1.8 lakh crore. A detailed feasibility study is being undertaken and the report is expected to be prepared by December 2021.
- These corridors are the 1,115-km East Coast Corridor from Kharagpur to Vijayawada; the East-West corridor which comprises 1,673 km connecting Bhusaval-Nagpur-Kharagpur-Dankuni; the 195-km Rajkharswan-Kalipahari-Andal route; the fourth is the 975-km North South sub-corridor in the Vijayawada-Nagpur-Itarsi route, according to sources.
- Eastern and Western Dedicated Freight Corridors are currently being rapidly built by the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India and these are to be commissioned by 2022.
21699. Inspired by trees, IIT Gandhinagar researchers develop method to make seawater drinkable
- IIT Gandhinagar have developed a cost-effective and environment-friendly water desalination technique that can successfully remove more than 99% of salt ions and other impurities with natural processing to make seawater potable.
- This is the first such method that could controllably manipulate graphite inside aqueous solutions without damaging the structural integrity of graphite.
- The IIT Gandhinagar research is inspired by the trees' natural intake of water that uses capillary effect. Selective transport of molecules and ions is commonly observed in biological systems. Mimicking these biological channels could result in highly efficient filtration systems.
21700. ISRO to launch all weather radar imaging satellite, two small satellites on Feb 14
- The Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle, regarded as ISRO's most reliable and proven rocket is scheduled to launch three satellites at 5:59 am , February 14th. However, it must be noted that this exact launch time is subject to weather conditions.
- This mission PSLV-C52 will be launching an earth observation satellite (EOS-04), weighing 1710 kg into a sun-synchronous polar orbit of 529 km. EOS-04 is a Radar Imaging Satellite designed to provide high-quality images under all weather conditions for applications such as Agriculture, Forestry & Plantations, Soil Moisture and Hydrology, and Flood mapping.
- According to ISRO, the rocket will also carry two small satellites as co-passengers. They include one student satellite (INSPIREsat-1) from Indian Institute of Space Science & Technology (IIST) in association with the Laboratory of Atmospheric & Space Physics at the University of Colorado, Boulder, and a technology demonstrator satellite (INS-2TD) from ISRO, which is a precursor to India-Bhutan Joint Satellite (INS-2B).
