1221. Villages In Chhattisgarh gets bus service for the first
- A Naxal fort for decades, the dense forests and rugged terrains of Abujhmad, are finally seeing the sun rise on the dark patches of underdevelopment and isolation.
- As the landscape shifts, literally and figuratively, people are taking the route to development, now through a bus service that was launched between Narayanpur and Kutul, for the first time since Independence.
- The initiative is part of a joint effort by the Narayanpur district administration and the police department, who had been trying to bring about change in the rural landscape which was in the grip of Naxals for a long part of history.
- The impact is already visible though not percolated deep into the life of people. Access to healthcare, education, and markets has become easier for dozens of villages along the new route but how far and how well, remain to be seen in the coming days.
1222. First passenger train runs on new Broad-Gauge line connecting Silchar and Lumding
- The first passenger train on the newly laid broad-gauge line, inaugurated on Saturday, between Silchar in southern Assam and Lumding in central Assam ended decades of isolation of southern Assam fromthe railways' broad-gauge network.
- The first passenger train chugged out of Silchar Railway station on Saturday morning, ending decades of isolation of southern Assam from the broad-gauge network. The government has made north-eastern states a priority as far as rail and road connectivity is concerned.
- The passenger train will cover a distance of 210 km in eight hours to reach Guwahati through Lumding, reducing the travelling time by four hours. Earlier, on a meter–gauge line laid during the British era, it took 12 hours to cover the same distance.

1223. India’s first commercial flight with Indigenous Dornier Do-228 takes off in Northeast
- The Civil Aviation Ministry has approved the “Providing air connectivity and Aviation infrastructure in North Eastern Region” scheme.
- Under this scheme, the first flight of Made in India HAL Dornier Do-228 will be inaugurated from Dibrugarh in Assam to Pasighat in the state of Arunachal Pradesh on 12 April 2022.
- The airline- Alliance Air will be the country’s first commercial airline to fly Indian-made aircraft for civil operations. Apart from this, the first Flying Training Organization (FTO) for the North Eastern Region will also be inaugurated at Lilabari in the state of Assam.
- The UDAN scheme has helped in enhancing inter and intra connectivity for the Northeast region. Connectivity in the Northeast part of the country is very important and the Ministry has identified the North Eastern Region as a priority area under UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik)- the Regional Connectivity Scheme of the Modi government.

1224. PM Flags Off Northeast’s first Vande Bharat Express between Guwahati and New Jalpaiguri
- Prime Minister virtually flagged off the northeast's first Vande Bharat Express from Guwahati to New Jalpaiguri. The Vande Bharat Express will boost tourism, education, trade and employment opportunities in the northeast.
- The semi-high-speed train between Guwahati and New Jalpaiguri will further strengthen connectivity between Assam and West Bengal.
- The Guwahati- New Jalpaiguri Vande Bharat Express will cover the journey in 5 hours 30 minutes, while the current fastest train takes 6 hours 30 minutes to cover the same distance.

1225. First ropeway in Meghalaya to enhance connectivity and tourism at Shillong
- Meghalaya Chief Minister officially launched the foundation of the Shillong Ropeway Project at Shillong Peak.
- The state’s first-ever passenger ropeway, which is set to cost Rs 175 crore, will offer a breathtaking panoramic view of Shillong City.
- The construction, initially scheduled to begin in November, will connect Lawsohtun to Shillong Peak. The foundation stone for the project was first laid by President Droupadi Murmu on January 16, 2024.

1226. Bengaluru Railway Station Renamed After Freedom Fighter Sangolli Rayanna
- Bangalore City railway station was officially renamed as Krantivira Sangolli Rayanna Railway Station to honor the 19th-century freedom fighter from Karnataka.
- Rayanna, born on August 15, 1798, led a rebellion against the British East India Company and was hanged on January 26, 1832 for his role in the resistance.
- A bust and plaque were unveiled at the station entrance, with plans to install a tall statue and publish booklets to inspire future generations.
1227. Union Minister Inaugurates Country’s First Tempered Glass Manufacturing Plant In Noida, UP
- Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology inaugurated the country’s first tempered glass manufacturing plant in UP’s Noida On 30 August, 2025.
- The plant is a significant step towards promoting electronics manufacturing in India and strengthening the Make-in-India initiative.
- The Minister said that electronics production in India has increased nearly six fold and now components for mobiles, laptops, and other devices are manufactured in the country itself.

1228. Sunam Singh railway station to be named after martyr Udham Singh
- On December 16, 2016, the Punjab government officially notified the renaming of Sunam railway station as Sunam Udham Singh Wala, after receiving approval from the Union home ministry on December 8.
- The move honors Shaheed Udham Singh, born in Sunam on December 26, 1899, who assassinated Michael O’Dwyer in London in 1940 to avenge the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. He was executed the same year.
- The renaming, finalized ahead of his 117th birth anniversary, serves as a long-overdue tribute to Udham Singh’s sacrifice, following public interest litigation and years of delays.
1229. Amit Shah inaugurates ₹322-crore projects in Assam, opens Northeast’s 2nd Cyber Forensic Lab
- On 29 August 2025, Union Home Minister A inaugurated the Brahmaputra Wing at Raj Bhavan in Guwahati and laid foundation stones for eight projects worth ₹322 crore, including the Northeast’s second National Cyber Forensic Laboratory (NCFL) at Lachit Borphukan Police Academy.
- The NCFL will serve all eight northeastern states, aiding police in tackling cybercrime, narcotics, smuggling, and border threats. Shah emphasized the Northeast’s transformation from insurgency to peace and development under PM supported by reforms like forensic-based criminal laws replacing colonial-era legislations.
- The Brahmaputra Wing, built at ₹40 crore, adds modern facilities for constitutional and public use. Shah highlighted India’s rising global stature with 27 nations honouring PM . while condemning opposition’s “negative politics” and remarks against Modi’s late mother, calling for an apology.

1230. India becomes World’s 3rd-Largest Mobile Exporter at $20.5 Billion
- On July 23, 2025, it was reported that India became the world’s 3rd largest mobile phone exporter with $20.5 billion in exports in calendar year 2024, surpassing Vietnam.
- India’s mobile phone exports surged to $20.5 billion in 2024, marking a nearly 40% per year growth from $15.6 billion in FY24. This milestone places India behind only China and Hong Kong, overtaking Vietnam to claim the 3rd global position.
- The growth was driven primarily by Apple, which accounted for around 65% of total exports, with significant contributions from Samsung, Foxconn, Wistron, and Pegatron.
- The phones made in India are now reaching top global markets, including the U.S., UAE, UK, Italy, and the Netherlands.
