1101. State Cancer Institute, Jammu
- The growing number of cancer patients in the erstwhile State of Jammu and Kashmir, the then Union Government in the year 2014-2015 had announced establishment of two State Cancer Institutes (SCIs) in J&K.
- One at Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura in Srinagar and another at Government Medical College and Hospital in Jammu at a cost of Rs 120 crore each.
- On February 4, 2023, the State Cancer Institute at Government Medical College, Jammu, a 100-bed facility approved with a ₹120 crore budget during 2014-15, began its OPD services on World Cancer Day, marking the official launch of cancer care services in Jammu.
- Earlier, in 2019, the State Cancer Institute at SKIMS, Soura (Srinagar) also sanctioned in 2014-15 became fully functional, providing comprehensive oncology services including radiotherapy, medical oncology, and daycare care for cancer patients,

1102. PM inaugrates Aiims Jammu, says people can now get treatment in state
- Prime Minister on 20 February 2025, inaugurated the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here, saying the people of Jammu will no longer have to leave for Delhi to avail specialised medical treatment.
- The hospital, sprawling across 226.84 acres along National Highway 44 in Vijaypur area of Samba district, was established under Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) to address regional healthcare imbalances, encourage evidence-based research and elevate medical education standards.
- Addressing a public rally after launching and laying foundation stone of projects worth over Rs 32,000 crore, the number of medical colleges in J&K has increased from four to 12 in the last 10 years.

- Indian Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of 13 Critical Care Blocks at the district hospitals across J&K, virtually, from Rajkot, Gujarat, on 24 February 2025.
- The projects under Prime Minister-Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM) & COVID-19 Emergency Response and Health System Preparedness Package Phase-II will make crucial & standard health facilities available to all the citizens”.
- The projects worth Rs 207.75 crore under Prime Minister-Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM) include 100-bedded Critical Care Blocks each at GMC Jammu and District Hospital Budgam; 50 Bedded Critical Care Block at GMC Baramulla, GMC Rajouri, GMC Kathua, SKIMS Bemina and District Hospital Kulgam.
- The Critical Care Blocks under COVID-19 Emergency Response and Health System Preparedness Package Phase-II (ECRP-II) to be constructed at Rs 142.5 crore are 50-bedded Critical Care Blocks each at District Hospitals Pulwama, Kupwara, Reasi, Shopian, Poonch and PHC Sonamarg, Ganderbal.

1104. Rail connectivity boost for Bihar! 4 new trains flagged off by PM Modi - Check details on new Vande Bharat, Amrit Bharat and more
- On 15 September 2025, PM flagged off four trains, inaugurated the 111 km Araria–Galgalia line, and laid the foundation stone for a 26 km rail-cum-bridge in Bhagalpur, Bihar, via video conferencing.
- Prime Minister focusing on infrastructure in strategic areas, launched these projects through remote participation. The initiatives aim to improve connectivity and reduce congestion across northern and eastern Bihar.
- Key projects include the Rs 4,412 crore Araria–Galgalia line and Rs 2,171 crore Vikramshila–Kataria bridge. The Jogbani–Danapur Vande Bharat will link northeastern Bihar to Patna in 8+ hours, enhancing mobility and economic integration.
1105. India signs MoU with ILO to align ‘Occupational Classification’ for global employment opportunities
- The Union government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the International Labour Organisation (ILO) to advance the International Reference Classification of Occupations (IRCO). Labour Ministry said on 16 September, 2025.
- The agreement aims to help Indian youth access global job markets by aligning domestic occupational data with international standards.
- The initiative gains further relevance amid rising global concerns over skill shortages, especially in ageing economies facing demographic challenges and rapid digitalisation.
1106. Centre allocates 41,000 tonnes urea to Andhra Pradesh
- On 16 September 2025, Agriculture Minister announced that the Centre allocated 41,170 tonnes of urea to Andhra Pradesh through multiple ports.
- The allocation includes 30,370 tonnes from CIL, 2,700 tonnes from IPL, and 8,100 tonnes from NBCL. Officials were told to prevent black marketing, and misinformation allegedly spread by YSRCP was strongly condemned.
- The minister also directed Agriculture Director S. Dilli Rao to prepare and arrange the distribution plan to different districts solely on a scientific approach, where the crop needs the urea critically based on crop stage, by duly discussing with the local administration.
1107. India’s Solar Power Surges Past 123 GW, Driving Renewable Energy Growth In 2025
- On 16 september 2025 It was reported that, By August 2025, India’s solar photovoltaic capacity reached 123,130.13 MW, forming 63.96% of total renewables (excluding large hydro). Between January–August, 25,265.41 MW were added, including 4,113.59 MW in August, marking steady nationwide growth.
- The Indian government, through policies like the Production-Linked Incentive scheme and the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers, boosted domestic solar manufacturing, ensured quality standards, and promoted large-scale adoption of clean energy across households, businesses, and industries.
- India’s total renewable capacity stood at 192.517 GW, with solar and wind contributing 175.81 GW. Rooftop solar reached 20.85 GW, hybrids 3.26 GW, and off-grid systems 5.12 GW. Challenges remain in land acquisition and grid integration, though global market shifts reduced costs.

- On September 16, 2025, India and the United States resumed trade talks in New Delhi after Trump’s 50% tariffs on Indian exports, aiming to revive stalled negotiations and restore confidence in bilateral trade relations.
- US Trade Representative Brendan Lynch led the American delegation, while senior Commerce Ministry official represented India. Discussions, supported by the External Affairs Ministry, focused on resolving tariff disputes through structured, ongoing bilateral negotiations.
- Talks follow five earlier rounds, with the sixth postponed after tariffs. Contentious issues include US access to India’s farm and dairy markets, while Washington criticizes India’s Russian oil trade. PM highlighted partnership potential; Trump adopted a conciliatory tone.

1110. India’s goods exports rise 6.7% in August to $35.10 billion, trade deficit narrows
- On September 15, 2025 Commerce Ministry data showed India’s August 2025 exports at $35.10 billion, up 6.7% year-on-year, while imports dropped 10.12% to $61.59 billion, reducing the trade deficit to $26.49 billion.
- Exports to the US grew 7.15% to $6.86 billion, front-loaded before tariffs, but slowed from July’s $8 billion, with engineering exports falling 5% under tariff stress, exposing $20 billion trade at risk.
- April–August 2025 exports rose 2.52% to $184.13 billion; imports increased 2.14% to $306.52 billion, leaving a $122.39 billion trade deficit. Exporters urged more MSME support and timely incentives amid global tariff challenges.
