1091. India, FAO launch initiative to strengthen blue port infrastructure
- On 18 September, 2025, The Department of Fisheries (DoF) under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, said it has signed a technical cooperation programme agreement with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations to develop Blue Port infrastructure in India.
- Secretary Abhilaksh Likhi emphasized fishing ports as gateways to economic, ecological, and social growth. The programme integrates 5G, AI, automation, and digital platforms with FAO support to pilot upgrades, ensuring sustainability and efficiency in fisheries operations.
- The initiative, with ₹369.8 crore investment under PMMSY, includes smart harbours in Gujarat, Daman & Diu, and Puducherry. It features energy-efficient systems, rainwater harvesting, waste management, and capacity building to modernize fisheries and strengthen food and nutritional security.
1092. AMTZ launches i-Passport to fast-track med-tech ideas
- On September 15, 2025, Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) in Visakhapatnam launched the Innovation Passport (i-Passport), a single-access gateway designed to transform healthcare ideas into market-ready solutions, during a visit by Centre’s Principal Scientific Advisor Ajay Kumar Sood.
- AMTZ, led by MD and founder CEO Jitendra Sharma, enables start-ups and innovators to fast-track prototyping, validation, and manufacturing. The i-Passport offers seamless access to R&D facilities, fabrication labs, testing centres, and regulatory resources within one integrated ecosystem.
- With 75 incubators already onboard linking over 1,000 start-ups, AMTZ aims to expand beyond 200 incubators. The i-Passport connects innovators with partner incubators, industry networks, mentorship, collaborations, and funding support, reducing costs and time to market while boosting global competitiveness.
1093. Delhi's healthcare infrastructure gets major boost on PM Modi's birthday
- In a significant enhancement to Delhi's healthcare infrastructure, 101 new Ayushman Arogya Mandir units, five new hospital blocks built at a total investment of Rs 503.49 crore, and 150 dialysis machines across government hospitals were inaugurated on the occasion of Prime Minister's birthday on 17 September, 2025.
- The initiative aims to improve emergency, critical care, and maternal and child health services in Delhi. The five-hospital infrastructure project is designed to expand hospital capacity and introduce advanced medical facilities throughout the city.
- Among the key additions is the newly established trauma block at the Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital, Mangolpuri, named the Sant Shri Durbal Nath Ji Trauma Block.
1094. India Steps Into 2nm Chip Era As ARM Expands Semiconductor Design Hub In Bengaluru
- On 16 September 2025, Union IT Minister inaugurated ARM’s new Bengaluru office, which will design cutting-edge 2-nanometre chips for AI servers, drones, and smartphones, marking progress in India’s semiconductor journey.
- ARM, a global chip design leader, with government support, will focus on advanced chip design in India. Minister highlighted efforts to expand from design to manufacturing, equipment, and materials to build a complete semiconductor ecosystem.
- India’s electronics industry has grown six-fold to ₹11.5 lakh crore in 11 years, with exports rising eight-fold. The Semiconductor Mission, involving 25 institutions, is entering Phase II, targeting equipment and material production for sustainable growth.
1095. Air India Express Launches Daily Dehradun–Bengaluru Flight
- On September 16, 2025, Uttarakhand Chief Minister inaugurated Air India Express’ first daily direct service from Dehradun to Bengaluru at Jolly Grant Airport, marking the airline’s debut operations in the state.
- CM emphasized benefits for youth, IT professionals, students, and tourists, while Air India Express MD Aloke Singh announced Dehradun as the airline’s 58th station. The inaugural flight departed at 4:30 p.m. and landed in Bengaluru at 7:30 p.m.
- The aircraft featured Aipan-inspired tail art under the “Tales of India” initiative. The route offers one-stop onward connections to 18 cities, including Chennai, Kochi, and Goa. State upgrades at Jolly Grant and Pantnagar airports highlight Uttarakhand’s broader aviation push.
1096. PM Modi Lays Foundation Stone Of India's First PM MITRA Park In Madhya Pradesh
- On September 17, 2025, Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for India’s first Pradhan Mantri Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) Park in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh.
- The park, spread over 2,158 acres in Bhainsola village, will feature a solar power plant, effluent treatment plant, modern infrastructure, housing, and social facilities. Leading textile companies have already pledged investments of ₹23,146 crore, supporting cotton producers and workers.
- The PM MITRA scheme has been launched by the Centre to establish large-scale textile manufacturing hubs at seven places in Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Gujarat, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra with world-class infrastructure and facilities, a government statement said.

1097. Gujarat adds record 6,632MW of green power in five months
- On 17 september, 2025, It was reported that, Between April and August 2025, Gujarat commissioned 6,632MW of renewable energy, nearly equaling the previous fiscal’s total. By August 31, 2025, installed RE capacity reached 39,275.7MW, positioning Gujarat as India’s frontrunner in green power.
- According to the data from the Union ministry of new and renewable energy, Gujarat's installed RE capacity stood at 25,471.7MW on March 31, 2024, rising to 33,393MW by March 31, 2025, a net addition of 7,921MW over 12 months.
- Falling costs from local manufacturing, revenue reforms, and increased rooftop solar adoption boosted affordability and large-scale deployment, creating a benchmark for other states.
1098. ISRO chief Narayanan opens spacetech startup OrbitAID’s R&D facility in Bengaluru
- On 17 september, 2025 ISRO Chairman V. Narayanan inaugurated OrbitAID Aerospace’s $2 million (₹18 crore) R&D facility in Bengaluru. Spanning 6,500 sq. ft, it will focus on lifetime refueling and servicing of satellites through advanced space technologies.
- OrbitAID, a spacetech startup backed by Unicorn India Ventures, specialises in on-orbit servicing and refueling (OOSR). Using RPOD infrastructure, cleanrooms, and fuel transfer systems, it will develop docking and refueling interfaces to extend satellite lifespans in India and abroad.
- The facility, India’s largest commercial RPOD hub, operates at TRL 7 readiness. OrbitAID plans to establish India’s first private propellant handling and satellite servicing hub in Tamil Nadu, while enhancing collaborations with universities, startups, and global partners for circular space economy growth.
1099. AIIMS in J&K’s Awantipora expected to be complete by Nov 2025.
- The construction work on the AIIMS at Awantipora in Kashmir’s Pulwama district is expected to be complete by November, 2025, according to the UT government.
- The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Awantipora in Kashmir, sanctioned in 2019 with an estimated cost of ₹1,828 crore, is being developed with 57 buildings comprising hospital blocks, academic complexes, hostels, and residential facilities.
- As of late 2024, approximately 70–75% of the construction work at AIIMS Awantipora had been completed, covering major structural components such as the hospital blocks, academic buildings, hostels, and staff residences.

1100. A Healthcare Milestone: CGHS Wellness Centre to Benefit Ladakh’s Central Government Employees.
- The much-anticipated Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) Wellness Centre in Ladakh, various points regarding CGHS were discussed. This initiative marks a significant leap forward in improving healthcare facilities in the region and enhancing the welfare of Central Government employees.
- On June 1, 2023, the process to establish one CGHS Wellness Centre in Leh, Ladakh officially began, and by that date 4,215 beneficiaries had already registered bringing the initiative notably closer to the Ministry’s requirement of 6,000 enrollees for approval and launch.
