31. Mumbai Gets State’s First Occupational Therapy Work Readiness And Rehabilitation Unit At KEM Hospital
- On January 31, 2026, an Occupational Therapy Work Readiness and Rehabilitation Unit was inaugurated at Seth G.S. Medical College & K.E.M. Hospital, Parel, Mumbai, the first such facility in Maharashtra for vocational rehabilitation.
- The unit supports patients recovering from illness, injury, or disability by providing structured therapy, real-world work simulation and vocational training to rebuild skills, confidence, and independence.

32. Gujarat Becomes India’s Largest Contributor To Renewable Energy Capacity With 16.5 Pc Share
- As of 31 December 2025, Gujarat became India’s largest contributor to renewable energy capacity with 42.583 GW installed, representing 16.50 % of the nation’s total renewable energy portfolio.
- Under the leadership of the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Gujarat expanded wind (14.82 GW), solar (25.53 GW), hybrid and rooftop systems through policy support, investment, and implementation of Surya Gujarat, PM Surya Ghar, and PM KUSUM programmes.
- Gujarat leads in rooftop solar (1.1 M systems, 6.41 GW), major solar parks (Charanka, Radhanesda, Dholera), the world’s largest Khavda renewable park (11.33 GW commissioned), ~2.37 lakh jobs created, and aims for 105 GW by 2030.
33. Delhi CM Inaugurates DMRC’S New Electric Receiving Sub Station
- On 30 January 2026, Delhi Chief Minister inaugurated a new state-of-the-art Electric Receiving Sub-Station (RSS) at Park Street, New Delhi, to power key Delhi Metro corridors and future expansions.
- The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) rebuilt and relocated the RSS as part of the Central Vista Project, upgrading equipment and automation to ensure uninterrupted, reliable power supply for metro operations.
- Originally built in 2010, the RSS reconstruction (2023–Dec 2025) includes 66 kV/33 kV/25 kV systems, advanced safety and green tech, supplies Airport and Violet Line power, and supports the Phase-5A Central Vista Metro Line.

- On 30 January 2026, Indian Railways commissioned a record 472.3 km of Kavach Version 4.0 automatic train protection system across three sections: Vadodara Virar, Tuglakabad-Palwal, and Manpur–Sarmatanr, strengthening safety on high-density routes.
- Indian Railways deployed its indigenous Kavach 4.0 system, integrating GPS, radio communication, and automatic braking to detect track conflicts and prevent collisions, enhancing operational safety on busy corridors.
- This is the highest single-day commissioning, bringing total Kavach coverage to 1,306.3 km across five zones, with successful collision avoidance validation and ongoing expansion for broader rail safety.
36. India’s Home-Grown Astra MK-2 Missile Aims Beyond 200 km
- On 30 January 2026, DRDO in India advanced preparations for a landmark flight trial of the Astra MK-2 missile, targeting a beyond-200 km strike range for next-generation air combat capability.
- DRDO upgraded Astra MK-2 using an advanced dual-pulse solid rocket motor, improved propulsion, and enhanced guidance systems to engage aerial targets at extended ranges.

38. Gujarat cabinet approves Rs 2630 crore 8-lane Ahmedabad-Mehsana Highway project
- On January 28, 2026, the Gujarat Cabinet has approved a Rs 2,630 crore project to widen the 51-km Ahmedabad–Mehsana Highway into an eight-lane corridor, a move aimed at easing congestion on one of the busiest arterial roads connecting Ahmedabad with north Gujarat.
- The project covers the 51.60-km stretch from Adalaj to Palavasna Circle in Mehsana and is expected to benefit commuters and residents across Mehsana, Patan and Banaskantha districts.

39. Avantel Signs MoU With HAL For Defence Technologies
- On 30 January 2026, at Wings India 2026, Avantel Limited and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) signed an MoU to collaborate on advanced defence communication and avionics technologies.
- The partnership between HAL’s Strategic & Logistics R&D Centre and Avantel focuses on joint development of HF systems, satellite communication, and avionics solutions for defence applications.

40. Rs 38,000 Cr Spent on National Highways in J&K Over Five Years, Parliament Informed
- On January 29, 2026, the Centre informed the Lok Sabha that it spent ₹37,851 crore over five years on National Highway development and maintenance in Jammu and Kashmir, with spending rising sharply after 2020–21.
- The government said 976 km of National Highways were added in J&K in five years, focusing on widening, tunnels, and all-weather connectivity in hilly and remote areas.
- Parliament was told that J&K recorded 8,920 highway accidents and 1,508 fatalities in five years, leading to targeted safety measures and expanded use of Advanced Traffic Management Systems.
- Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS), which include AI-based video incident detection and electronic enforcement tools, have already been installed along about 19,000 km of National Highways nationwide
