81. Texmaco Rail, RVNL ink JV pact to boost country's rail manufacturing
- On February 20, 2026 it was reported that Texmaco Rail & Engineering Ltd and RVNL signed a joint venture pact in 2026 to expand rail manufacturing and infrastructure projects in India and overseas markets, including Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
- Texmaco and RVNL will combine engineering innovation, cost competitiveness, and global-standard quality to deliver advanced rolling stock, lifecycle maintenance, asset management, and large EPC and turnkey rail infrastructure solutions.
- The JV aims to boost innovation, strengthen exports, enhance global rail competitiveness, and support national infrastructure growth through scale, technology adoption, and international project participation, according to senior executives of both companies.
82. India’s auto exports to EU rise to $2.2 billion in April–December period: Govt data
- On February 20, 2026 India’s exports of automobiles and agricultural products made deeper inroads into European markets during the April–December 2025 period, supported by improving trade momentum and the conclusion of free trade agreement (FTA) negotiations with the European Union, according to Commerce Ministry data.
- India boosted exports through improved trade momentum and the concluded India–EU FTA, with expected zero-duty access, enhancing the competitiveness of Indian products in the European market.
- Automotive exports to the EU rose to $2.2 billion, global auto exports reached $19.3 billion, cereal exports doubled to $339 million, and the EU share in India’s auto exports increased to 11.6%.

83. Bihar built 1.19 lakh km rural roads, 2,884 bridges in 20 years: RWD minister
- Bihar Assembly on February 18, 2026, the Rural Works Department presented its 2026–27 budget, reporting large-scale rural road and bridge construction to improve connectivity and economic development across the state.
- The Bihar government, underthe Chief minister expanded road connectivity using phased policies targeting villages and tolas by population size, aiming to boost the rural economy and accessibility through sustained infrastructure development.
- The ₹11,312 crore RWD budget for 2026–27 was passed by voice vote; 7,113 km of roads are under construction, with priority for all-weather roads to habitations of 500, 250, and 100 people, especially Dalit and EBC tolas.
84. Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma inaugurates key bamboo processing units established at the Sairang Horticulture Centre
- Chief Minister Lalduhoma inaugurated key bamboo processing facilities at the Sairang Horticulture Centre, developed under the National Bamboo Mission with a funding of ₹252.826 lakh.
- The newly launched units include a Bamboo Treatment & Seasoning Plant, a Bamboo Depot & Godown, and an Activated Charcoal Unit.
- Bamboo from the seasoning plant can last up to 50 years, significantly enhancing its utility. The Activated Charcoal Unit has the capacity to produce three tonnes of charcoal per day — approximately 900 tonnes annually — using around 670 bamboo culms each day.
- Additionally, about 100 litres of vinegar will be produced daily, with up to 54 litres of refined vinegar extractable after distillation. To support the facility’s operations, three bamboo clusters have been developed at Chhingchhip, Baktawng, and Saiphal villages.

85. PM Inaugurates India’s First Bamboo-Based Ethanol Plant In Assam
- Prime Minister inaugurated India’s first-ever bamboo-based ethanol plant in Assam’s Golaghat district, marking a major push towards clean energy and rural economic upliftment.
- The facility, developed by Assam Bio-Ethanol Private Limited (ABEL), is claimed to be the world’s first zero-waste bioethanol plant using green bamboo as a raw material.
