1551. Centre Releases Rs 1,881 Crore for Education and Infrastructure Development in Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh
- On July 22, 2025, it was reported that the Central Government released ₹1,881 crore for education and infrastructure development in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh under the Samagra Shiksha and PM-SHRI schemes for 2023–24 and 2024–25, as announced by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in the Lok Sabha.
- Jammu & Kashmir received ₹1,689 crore, including ₹865.44 crore (2023–24) and ₹823.49 crore (2024–25) under Samagra Shiksha, plus ₹52.39 crore and ₹99.72 crore under PM-SHRI, while Ladakh was allocated ₹192 crore, with ₹52.23 crore and ₹140 crore under Samagra Shiksha, and ₹4.04 crore and ₹11.91 crore under PM-SHRI.
- The funds aim to enhance school infrastructure, teacher training, and digital learning, aligning with the National Education Policy 2020, but government school enrolment dropped in 2023–24, with Jammu & Kashmir falling from 14.54 lakh to 14.21 lakh students and Ladakh from 28,667 to 26,275, attributed to data collection changes and migration to private schools.
1552. Jharkhand launches India’s first-ever mining tourism to offer guided mine tours
- On July 21, 2025, Jharkhand launched India’s first mining tourism initiative in partnership with Central Coalfields Limited (CCL). This project, announced by CM after his visit to Spain’s Gava Museum, aims to showcase the state’s rich mining heritage and boost educational, cultural, and adventure tourism.
- In the first phase, North Urimari open-cast mines in Ramgarh district will host guided group tours (10–20 people). JTDC will handle tourism operations, while CCL will ensure logistics, safety, and live demonstration of mining practices for students, researchers, and tourists.
- Jharkhand, holding 40% of India’s mineral wealth, plans to expand this eco-industrial model with three tourism circuits: Eco-Mining Circuit 1, Eco-Mining Circuit 2, and a Religious Mining Circuit. The project integrates heritage, nature (like Tiru Falls and Patratu Valley), and employment, reviving defunct coal mines into vibrant cultural attractions.

1553. Tourism Boom in Jammu and Kashmir: Over Rs 500 Crore Spent on Projects Under Swadesh Darshan Scheme
- On July 21, 2025, it was reported that Jammu and Kashmir saw over 8.65 crore domestic tourist visits between 2020 and 2024, with a tenfold increase from 25.19 lakh to 2.35 crore, and foreign tourist arrivals rising from 1,650 in 2021 to 65,452 in 2024, fueled by infrastructure development under the Swadesh Darshan scheme.
- The Ministry of Tourism sanctioned six projects worth ₹519.58 crore in 2016-17, including circuits like Jammu-Srinagar-Pahalgam and Gulmarg-Baramulla-Kupwara, alongside flood restoration and upgrades in lesser-known areas like Mantalai and Zanskar Padum, all completed by 2025.
- The projects enhanced connectivity to major tourist nodes, pilgrimage circuits, and border towns, contributing to a 150% compound annual growth rate in foreign tourism over three years, with 2025 monthly averages already surpassing 2024 figures.

1554. Arunachal: Likabali town gets infrastructure boost with Rs 22 crore road project
- On July 22, 2025, it was reported that Likabali town, the headquarters of Lower Siang district in Arunachal Pradesh, received a ₹22 crore infrastructure boost through a 7.5 km Cement Concrete road project under the Chief Minister Comprehensive State Road Development Plan (CMCSRDP-II) to enhance connectivity and tourism.
- The project, executed by the Public Works Department and awarded to M/s Lokam Ane Enterprises, covers key areas like the police station, market, mission schools, and district hospital, aiming to improve access to heritage sites like Malinithan Temple and Akasi Ganga.
- Despite challenges from persistent rainfall, the project maintains strict quality control with a 5.5-meter-wide road, 0.75-meter shoulders, and 6-meter drainage lines, targeting completion by 2029.

1555. Juniper Green Energy Commissions additional 43 MWp solar capacity in Maharashtra
- Juniper Green Energy On 22 July, 2025, announced the commissioning of an additional 43 MWp at its power project site in Wardha, Maharashtra.
- The 103 MWp solar part of the 129 MWp hybrid project is now fully commissioned, advancing the project toward full operation.
- With this, Juniper Green Energy has commissioned the solar capacity in two phases -- 59.55 MWp on June 6, 2025, followed by 43 MWp on July 14, 2025 -- achieving full solar capacity within just eight months of signing the PPA (power purchase agreement.
- The achievement highlights our significant contribution to India's increasing need for clean energy," said Ankush Malik, Chief Executive Officer, Juniper Green Energy.
1556. India completes 48 GW inter-state transmission network for renewable energy
- On July 22 2025, the Parliament was informed that 48 GW of Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) has been installed across India to evacuate solar and wind energy. The government aims to build a 340 GW ISTS network to evacuate 230 GW renewable energy through ISRO-supported schemes and policy approvals.
- Out of the 340 GW planned, 159 GW is under construction, 21 GW under bidding, and 112 GW under planning. These projects are aligned with scheduled commissioning of renewable capacities and are approved by the Ministry of Power or other competent authorities.
- The Green Energy Corridor-I is being implemented in 8 states with a cost of ₹10,141.68 crore, while GEC-II covers 7 states at ₹12,031.33 crore. States have also been advised to prepare 10-year InSTS plans to boost internal power infrastructure.
1557. Bhopal railway division rolls out 'Speed Vision' plans for safer operations
- On July 22, 2025, Bhopal division rolled out “Speed Vision” an AI-driven tool that processes locomotive speedometer data within minutes and generates detailed reports on speed, braking patterns and overspeed incidents eliminating manual errors.
- Around 400 locomotive records are analyzed monthly. Any irregularities trigger targeted counselling and refresher training for pilots only 8 cases of concern were found in June 2025.
- The system shares analysis results immediately with senior officials via digital platforms like WhatsApp and email. This supports prompt decision making and is expected to boost operational safety and accountability.
1558. Mobile production jumps 146% in four years, exports rise 775%: Piyush Goyal
- The value of mobile phone production in India has seen a sharp rise of around 146%, increasing from ₹2,13,773 crore in FY 2020–21 to ₹5,25,000 crore in FY 2024–25, Commerce and Industry Minister informed the Rajya Sabha On 22 July 2025.
- During the same four-year period, mobile phone exports by value grew by about 775%, jumping from ₹22,870 crore in FY 2020–21 to ₹2,00,000 crore in FY 2024–25.
- Minister highlighted that the PLI scheme has encouraged global smartphone makers to move production to India, helping the country emerge as a key manufacturing hub for mobile phones.
- Under Make in India 2.0, 12 new industrial projects worth ₹28,602 crore have been approved to attract manufacturing investments. The government has also launched systems like the National Single Window and Industrial Land Bank to simplify processes and promote ease of doing business, further strengthening India’s manufacturing ecosystem.

1559. BITS-Hyderabad startup delivers indigenous combat drones to Indian Army
- On 22 July 2025, Jayant Khatri and Sourya Choudhury launched Apollyon Dynamics from their BITS Hyderabad hostel and delivered high-speed (300 km/h), radar-evading kamikaze drones to the Indian Army in just 60 days.
- The indigenously developed drones are now actively deployed with Army units in Jammu, Chandimandir, Panagarh and Arunachal Pradesh showcasing their operational effectiveness in varied terrains.
- Built entirely in-house with support from BITS faculty, these drones mark a significant shift towards self-reliance in military technology. The startup is also working on advanced VTOL and fixed wing versions to further enhance capabilities.
1560. NABARD sanctions Rs 4,613 crore for 485 rural projects in Arunachal
- On July 21, 2025, it was reported that NABARD sanctioned ₹4,613 crore for 485 infrastructure projects in Arunachal Pradesh under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund, aimed at enhancing rural connectivity, irrigation, and livelihoods.
- NABARD General Manager Damodar Mishra highlighted the bank’s focus on inclusive growth through rural credit planning, digitisation of primary agricultural credit societies, micro-enterprise promotion, and climate-resilient farming during its 44th foundation day celebration.
- The event, aligning with the UN’s International Year of Cooperatives, featured a sensitisation programme themed ‘Cooperatives Build a Better World’, attended by key stakeholders like Rajiv Gandhi University Vice Chancellor Prof S K Nayak and officials from RBI, SIDBI, and others.
