- On July 31, 2025, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) honored Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and the Azad Hind Fauj by unveiling a WDP-4B diesel locomotive (number 40023) repainted with an Indian tricolour-inspired livery at the Siliguri Diesel Loco Shed.
- The 4,500 hp locomotive, featuring advanced IGBT-based technology, sports saffron, white, and green whiskers and national flag motifs, transforming it into a moving tribute to India’s freedom struggle and Netaji’s legacy.
- The initiative reflects NFR’s commitment to blending tradition with innovation, serving as a rolling monument to patriotism and inspiring passengers across its routes, while commemorating the sacrifices of the Indian National Army.
1482. Union Cabinet approves four multi-tracking railway projects across six states at cost of Rs 11,169 crore

- On July 31, 2025, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved four railway multitracking projects across 13 districts in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha, and Jharkhand to decongest the network and reduce logistics costs.
- The ₹11,169 crore projects Itarsi-Nagpur, Aurangabad-Parbhani, Aluabari Road New Jalpaiguri, and Dangoaposi–Jaroli—aim to enhance operational efficiency, generate 229 lakh human-days of employment, and boost freight capacity by 95.91 MTPA by 2028–29.
- The projects, aligned with PM Gati Shakti plan, will connect 2,309 villages (population 43.6 lakh), reduce oil imports by 16 crore litres, cut CO₂ emissions by 515 crore kg (equal to planting 20 crore trees), and support Atmanirbhar Bharat vision.

- On July 31, 2025, Defence PSU Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) Ltd delivered Himgiri, an advanced guided missile frigate to the Indian Navy. This was the first of three such warships being built by GRSE under the Indian Navy's Project 17A.
- Equipped with BrahMos and Barak 8 missiles, the 149-meter and 6,670 tonne warship significantly enhances naval capabilities. Himgiri, the 112th warship from GRSE, is capable of anti-air, anti-surface, and anti-submarine warfare.
- The three ships are worthover ₹21,833.36 crore, have boosted MSMEs, start-ups, and employment in India’s shipbuilding sector. Himgiri offers accommodation for 225 personnel and full helicopter operations capability.
- GRSE is building 15 warships, with Androth and Ikshak ready for delivery and 13 more are in under construction.

- On July 31, 2025, Deendayal Port Authority, Kandla, commissioned India’s first “Make-in-India” 1 MW Green Hydrogen Plant, marking a significant milestone in the country’s clean energy journey.
- The plant was virtually inaugurated by Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, with the presence of Minister of State Shantanu Thakur, Secretary T.K. Ramachandran, and DPA Chairman Sushil Kumar Singh, alongside officials from L&T.
- The initiative aims to accelerate India’s clean energy transition through indigenous green hydrogen production at major port facilities.

- On July 31, 2025, Indian Railways has commenced the deployment of its most advanced indigenous train safety system, Kavach 4.0, with its first operational rollout on the Mathura-Kota stretch of the high-traffic Delhi-Mumbai corridor.
- Kavach 4.0, introduces certain upgrades in technology and safety features, aimed at reducing human error and ensuring safer railway operations.
- The system functions by using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags installed at one-kilometre intervals along railway tracks and at key signal points. It has been approved for use on trains operating at speeds of up to 160 kmph.
- According to Indian Railways, the system is in use across over 4,000 km of rail tracks, covering 708 stations and 1,107 locomotives.

- On July 30, 2025, The Indian Coast Guard's sixth indigenously built Fast Patrol Vessel (FPV) ‘Atal’ was launched at Goa Shipyard Ltd (GSL), Goa by Smt. Shilpa Agarwal in the presence of Shri Rozy Agarwal.
- Designed in-house by GSL, ‘Atal’ features over 60% indigenous content, is 52 meters long and displaces 320 tonnes. It is the sixth in a series of eight FPVs under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
- The vessel will strengthen the Indian Coast Guard’s capabilities in coastal security, anti-smuggling, anti-piracy, and search and rescue operations. It also helps protect India’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and island territories, reinforcing maritime security and self-reliance in Defence manufacturing.

- 29 सितंबर 1959 को, आरती साहा इंग्लिश चैनल पार करने वाली पहली एशियाई महिला बनीं। उनका जन्म 24 दिसंबर 1940 को हुआ था।
- बचपन से ही वह एक प्रतिभाशाली तैराक थीं। साल 1952 में उन्होंने हेलसिंकी ओलंपिक में भारत का प्रतिनिधित्व किया, और ऐसा करने वाली वह पहली भारतीय महिला बनीं।
- उनकी इस ऐतिहासिक सफलता के बाद भारत सरकार ने उन्हें 1960 में पद्मश्री पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया।
- 1999 में उनके सम्मान में एक डाक टिकट भी जारी किया गया। 23 अगस्त 1994 को आरती साहा का निधन हो गया, लेकिन आरती साहा का साहस और संकल्प आज भी लोगों को प्रेरित करता है।
