1451. Axiscades secures ₹600 crore defence orders for indigenous platforms
- On July 30,2025 Bengaluru-based engineering solutions provider Axiscades announced that it has secured Rs 600 crore worth of new defence orders for the development and supply of advanced sub-systems for indigenous platforms from agencies like DRDO and Defence PSUs.
- The orders involve high-performance radar, sonar, and signal processing electronics, reinforcing Axiscades’ capabilities in sophisticated defence technologies. In June, its subsidiary Axiscades Aerospace and Technologies signed an agreement with MBDA to establish a missile systems engineering facility in Karnataka, equipped with advanced test benches and infrastructure.
- The contracts strengthen India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat mission by advancing indigenous defence production, enhancing technological capabilities, and supporting long-term national security objectives while creating high-value jobs in the defence manufacturing sector.
1452. Industry 4.0 Adoption: BSNL, NRL sign MoU to bring India's first 5G captive network to refinery sector
- On August 3, 2025, BSNL and Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) signed an MoU during an Industry 4.0 workshop in Guwahati to deploy India’s first 5G Captive Non-Public Network (CNPN) in the refinery sector, as announced by the Ministry of Communications.
- Using indigenous 5G infrastructure, the initiative aims to provide secure, real-time industrial connectivity for critical operations, enhancing efficiency, cybersecurity, and enabling technologies like Digital Twins, AR/VR, and IoT. It aligns with India's push toward Industry 4.0 and a self-reliant digital ecosystem.
- The collaboration was praised as a “Whole of Government” approach to modernize India’s industrial base, skill development, and employment, especially in the Northeast. BSNL called it a technological leap, with potential for replication across CPSEs, supporting Digital India and Atmanirbhar Bharat.
1453. VinFast bets big on India with $500 million EV push, eyes global exports via new Tamil Nadu factory
- On 4 August 2025, Vietnam-based EV maker VinFast inaugurated its first Indian manufacturing plant in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu its third globally as part of a $500 million initial investment.
- The facility will start with a production capacity of 50,000 units annually (targeting 150,000 later), focusing on premium EV SUVs like the VF 6 and VF 7. It aims to serve as an export-oriented hub for South Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
- VinFast plans 35 dealerships across 27 Indian cities in 2025; 72,100 EVs were sold globally in H1 2025; India orders are a priority; local sourcing efforts are underway; the firm is in talks for financing and supply chain localization, with plans for more investment in Tamil Nadu.
1454. Ashwini Vaishnaw flags off three new express trains from Bhavnagar
- On August 3, 2025 Railway Minister flagged off three new express trains from Bhavnagar, Gujarat the Bhavnagar-Ayodhya Express, Rewa-Pune (Hadapsar) Express, and Jabalpur-Raipur Express.
- The Bhavnagar-Ayodhya Express will run weekly, connecting Gujarat with Uttar Pradesh’s cultural and religious centres. The Rewa-Pune Express and Jabalpur-Raipur Express will strengthen links between central India and key cities in Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh.
- The ongoing Indian Railways expansion of Rs34,000 km of new tracks in 11 years, redevelopment of 1,300 stations, launch of Amrit Bharat trains, and progress on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train. Union Ministers welcomed the move, citing economic and cultural benefits for Saurashtra and neighbouring regions.
- The initiative aims to enhance passenger connectivity, support trade and tourism, and promote cultural integration while aligning with the government’s broader push for railway modernisation, infrastructure growth, and economic development across India.
1455. Tesla launches its first EV charging station in India at Mumbai’s BKC
- On 4 August 2025, Tesla launched its first charging facility in India at One BKC, Bandra-Kurla Complex, Mumbai, after opening its first showroom in the city last month.
- The site includes four V4 Supercharging stalls (250 kW at ₹24/kWh) and four AC destination chargers (11 kW at ₹14/kWh), aiming to support premium EV adoption and expand Tesla’s infrastructure in Mumbai.
- Tesla will open three more charging stations by September in Navi Mumbai, Thane, and Lower Parel; Model Y deliveries begin Q3–Q4 2025; a 24,500 sq ft service centre has been leased in Kurla West.
1456. Delhi Assembly adopts E-Vidhan system, turns fully solar-powered ahead of Monsoon Session
- On August 4, 2025, The Delhi Legislative Assembly fully implemented the e-vidhan system, making its legislative processes completely paperless. All assembly documents, questions, agendas and committee reports will now be handled digitally to improve efficiency and transparency.
- Ahead of the monsoon session, the Delhi Assembly has become fully solar-powered, reducing its carbon footprint. Solar panels have been installed on the assembly building, contributing to the state's sustainability goals.
- Delhi become the first Union Territory to completely digitize its legislative proceedings. The Speaker highlighted that this transformation aligns with national goals of digitization and environmental sustainability.
1457. Massive Railway Infrastructure Push In Maharashtra: Rs 89,780 Crore Outlay For 38 Projects; Rs 39,407 Crore Spent, 2,360 Km Commissioned
- The Ministry of Railways has significantly accelerated infrastructure development in Maharashtra, with 38 major railway projects currently sanctioned across the state.
- As of March 2025, 2,360 km of this network has been commissioned, backed by a cumulative expenditure of Rs 39,407 crore, according to information provided by the Ministry of Railways.
- These include 11 new line projects, two gauge conversion efforts, and 25 doubling or multitracking projects. Together, they span a total length of 5,098 km.
- Between 2009 and 2014, the minister reported an average of 58.4 km of new railway tracks being commissioned annually, which increased to over 208 km between 2014 and 2025.
1458. Chandigarh’s solar boom: Renewable energy capacity grows 18-fold in a decade
- Over the past decade, the Chandigarh city's installed renewable energy capacity has seen a nearly 18-fold increase, rising from 5 MW in 2014–15 to 90 MW by July 2025.
- Solar power is the foundation of renewable generation in the city. As of July 2025, solar power generation plants have been installed on 10,988 buildings across the city.
- Between March 31, 2024, and March 31, 2025, the number of government buildings with solar plants installed increased from 907 to 6,627, an addition of 25 MW in one year.
- The number of private buildings with solar power plants on March 31, 2024, was 3,794. After a year, it marginally increased to 4,361, implying an addition of only 2.8 MW.
1459. Gujarat sees 50% surge in solar power, becomes India’s fastest-growing state in FY25
- As per August 03, 2025, Gujarat recorded a sharp 50 per cent surge in solar power generation in FY 2024-25, emerging as the fastest-growing state in India in terms of annual increase.
- The state generated 20,219.48 million units (MUs) of solar electricity in FY25, up from 13,468.91 MUs in FY24, according to data tabled in Parliament by the Union ministry of new and renewable energy.
- Over just two years, Gujarat nearly doubled its solar output, which stood at 10,335.32 MUs in FY23, signalling its rapid transition to renewable energy. With this performance, the state now ranks second in the country in total solar power generation, behind Rajasthan, which recorded 49,101.62 MUs in FY25.
1460. Nagaland to get 23 hostels for tribal students, 10 PM SHRI schools
- On 29 july, 2025, Union Education Minister announced the establishment of 23 new hostels for tribal students and the development of 10 PM SHRI schools in Nagaland, one per district, during the fifth anniversary celebration of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in New Delhi
- The PM SHRI (Schools for Rising India) initiative, part of a 14,500-school national network, aims to transform selected government schools into centers of excellence with enhanced infrastructure, digital learning, and NEP 2020-aligned curricula, while the 23 hostels, under the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA), support tribal education.
- The virtual ceremony at Bharat Mandapam, streamed live, was attended in Kohima by Advisor Kekhrielhoulie Yhome and other officials at TM Government Higher Secondary School, marking a milestone in Nagaland’s education and tribal welfare efforts.
