22782. Government plans to have a made-in-India operating system to rival Android and iOS
- Government of India is planning to have an operating system for handsets that is completely made in India. The indigenous operating system will serve as an alternative to Google's Android and Apple's iOS, the two dominant forces in otherwise largely unexplored space.

22783. ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India to invest Rs 1,66,000 crore in Gujarat
- The Gujarat government said ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AMNS India), which owns a steel mill at Hazira in Surat, will invest Rs 1,66,000 crore in six different projects in the state.
- the steel giant will invest Rs 4,200 crore for the expansion and modernisation of their captive jetty in Hazira and Rs 45,000 crore to increase the Hazira plant’s steel production capacity from the current 8.6 MMTPA to 18 MMTPA, said the statement.

22785. India’s renewable energy sector can employ 1 mn people by 2030: Study
- India’s renewable energy sector has the potential to employ around one million people by 2030, and most of the new jobs would be generated by small-scale renewable energy projects, according to a study.
- India’s renewable energy sector could potentially employ around one million people by 2030, which would be ten times more than the existing workforce of an estimated 1.1 lakh employed by the sector, according to an independent study released.
- The CEEW-NRDC-SCGJ analysis also highlighted the adverse impact of the pandemic on employment in the renewable energy sector. In comparison to 12,400 new workers employed in the sector in FY19, only 5,200 new workers were employed in FY20 and 6400 were employed in FY21, it said.

22786. Made by IIT start-up, Amphan drones on show in kamrup
- Drones developed by a start-up at the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati that has been part of anti-disaster and anti-disease drives in Bengal were showcased at the Republic Day celebration in Assam’s Kamrup district, the first time UAVs were exhibited in the Northeast.
- The show by the start-up, Drones Tech Lab (DTL), was held at the Kumar Bhaskar Barman Kshetra grounds near the Kamrup deputy commissioner’s office at Amingaon in North Guwahati to promote drone technology for the benefit of the region in the fields of disaster management, agriculture, survey and mapping, IIT Guwahati said.
- DTL’s drones were used in Bengal in the aftermath of Cyclone Amphan in 2020 to help rescue workers. They were also used to check erosion in Assam’s Majuli riverine island and during the ongoing anti-dengue drive in Calcutta, the IIT said.

22787. China hands over missing Arunachal boy to Indian Army
- Chinese Army has reportedly handed over the missing boy from Arunachal Pradesh Miram Taron to the Indian Army.
