22751. Chennai: 62-km Outer Ring Road project to set-off as city's new commercial hub

- The 62-km Outer Ring Road (ORR) project which was completed last year may soon turn into a new housing and commercial hub as CBRE, a global commercial real estate
- estate and investment services firm, has submitted a feasibility report to the Tamil Nadu Urban Infrastructure Financial Services Limited for commercial development of 50m strip along the entire 62-km stretch of the road.
- The report has recommended developing a racing circuit that can be used by automobile manufacturers to host international races and to test their vehicles in India rather than sending them to foreign countries

- Amai Mahalinga Naik, a labourer from Karnataka, has been selected as one of the Padma Shri awardees this year. He is set to receive the honour for his contribution towards agriculture.
- He had converted a piece of barren land into a flourishing farm in Kepu village some distance off from Mangaluru,
- Naik is often hailed as the ‘Suranga Man’ or the ‘Tunnel Man’ and is known for being a one-man army. Naik is unlettered, and has relentlessly kept on in his pursuit for over 40 years.

- IIT Delhi startup SWATRIC has designed several advanced fabric structures for the monumental National Flags or Tiranga. At the lab scale, the researchers have successfully improved the strength of the fabric by 100%.
- Using the advanced fabric being developed by IIT Delhi startup, the FFI has already installed two different prototypes of the monumental National Flag on the field -- one in Delhi and another one in Ladakh.
- IIT Delhi is also in the process of installing a monumental National Flag on its campus. The project is expected to complete by March 2022.

- Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) will soon be getting 900 new double-decker air-conditioned (AC) buses on a wet-lease basis in Mumbai.
- this is the first time that BEST will be taking double-decker buses on a wet-lease basis and these will be electric.
- In the first phase, 400 buses are expected to arrive this year, including 200 at a cost of Rs 132 crore, by March. The remaining buses will be procured in 2023.

- 1) हरियाणा के डॉ. शिव दर्शन मलिक ने गाय के गोबर से एक वैदिक घर बनाया है। गाय के गोबर से बनी ईंटों और वैदिक प्लास्टर के इस्तेमाल से बने, इस घर के अंदर हवा भी शुद्ध रहती है।
- 2) 2005 में डॉ. मलिक ने देसी गाय के गोबर में जिप्सम, ग्वारगम, चिकनी मिट्टी, नींबू पाउडर आदि चीजों को मिलाकर, वैदिक प्लास्टर (Vedic Plaster) तैयार किया।
- 3) बीकानेर स्थित कारखाने में सलाना पांच हजार टन वैदिक प्लास्टर (Vedic Plaster) बनाया जा रहा है।
- 4) डॉ. मलिक ने 2018 से अब तक तक़रीबन 100 लोगों को गोबर की ईंट बनाने की ट्रेनिंग दी है, जिनमें किसान, गोशाला से जुड़े लोग और कुछ आर्किटेक्ट भी शामिल हैं।
- 5) वैदिक प्लास्टर (Vedic Plaster) के आविष्कार के लिए, डॉ. मलिक को 2019 में राष्ट्रपति की ओर से ‘हरियाणा कृषि रत्न’ पुरस्कार भी मिला है।

- Exports of engineering goods jumped to USD 81.8 billion during the April-December period of 2021 as compared to USD 52.9 billion during the same period in 2020, registering a growth of 54%, the commerce ministry said.
- The engineering goods sector constituted the largest, more than 27%, share of India’s total exports basket during the period.
- India’s top five export destinations for the engineering goods sector in April-November 2021 are USA (14.7%), China (5.8%), UAE (5.1%), Italy (4%) & Germany (3.4%).

- 1. ओडिशा के सुंदरगढ़ जिले में तलिता गाँव के रहने वाले, 74 वर्षीय गुरुचरण प्रधान एक रिटायर्ड शिक्षक और किसान हैं।
- 2. गुरुचरण ने ‘कृषक साथी’ नाम से एक कृषि यंत्र बनाया है, जो अकेला ही 10 यंत्रों का काम कर सकता है।
- 3. ‘कृषक साथी’से किसानों को कृषि और पशुपालन से जुड़े कार्यों को करने में मदद मिलती है।
- 4. ‘कृषक साथी’ मशीन से लगभग 10 मजदूरों का काम किया जा सकता है। एक या दो लोग मिलकर इस मशीन को चला सकते हैंइस मल्टी-पर्पज और मल्टी-फंक्शनल मशीन को बनाने में लगभग 25 हजार रुपए की लागत आती है।
