911. NTPC Green Energy, Japan’s ENEOS Sign MoU To Develop Green Hydrogen Value Chain
- On 11 October, 2025 It was reported that, On the sidelines of World Expo 2025 preparations in Osaka, Japan, NTPC Green Energy Ltd (NGEL) signed an MoU with Japan’s ENEOS Corporation to collaborate on green hydrogen, green methanol, and other renewable-based chemical projects for clean energy development.
- The partnership between NGEL, a subsidiary of NTPC, and ENEOS aims to explore hydrogen-based exports from NGEL’s proposed Green Hydrogen Hub at Pudimadaka, Andhra Pradesh. The 1,200-acre facility will integrate renewable power generation, electrolysis, and chemical conversion for domestic and export markets.
- ENEOS seeks reliable low-carbon fuel supplies for Japan’s decarbonisation goals, while NTPC targets 60 gigawatts of renewable capacity by 2032 and net-zero emissions by 2070. The collaboration strengthens Indo-Japan cooperation in creating a sustainable, large-scale green hydrogen ecosystem across Asia.
912. Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel flags off 201 new buses
- On 10 Oct 2025, Gujarat Chief Minister flagged off 201 new State Transport buses from Gandhinagar, enhancing public travel. The fleet includes Super Express, Semi-Luxury, and Midi buses, serving routes across the State for smoother passenger commutes.
- The inauguration was attended by Minister Gandhinagar Mayor , MLAs, and officials. CM directed the Transport Department to adopt innovative technologies, modernise buses, and upgrade infrastructure to provide safe, timely, and high-quality transport services for citizens.
- The GSRTC currently runs over 8,000 buses daily, covering 33 lakh kilometres and serving 27 lakh passengers. During festivals, additional buses are deployed4,200 for Diwali and thousands for local fairs ensuring hassle-free travel and improved citizen convenience across Gujarat.

913. Tripura CM inaugurates ₹33 crore ADB-funded lake rejuvenation project
- On 10 Oct 2025, Tripura Chief Minister inaugurated the Rs 33.08 crore Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) College Lake Rejuvenation Project in Agartala, transforming a degraded 31-acre lake into a vibrant and safe public recreational area.
- The project, funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), was implemented by Agartala Smart City Ltd. Officials including CEO Shailesh Kumar Yadav and Secretary Abhishek Singh restored ecology, added walking tracks, yoga zones, water sports, and ensured security for public use.
- The rejuvenated area features 60 CCTV cameras, a 3-km walking circuit, 70,000 plants, and migratory bird facilities. It reduced crime, improved biodiversity and air quality, and complemented Rs 106 crore work rejuvenating 25 deserted ponds in Tripura.

914. India & Australia ink key defence agreements to strengthen operational partnership between two armed forces
- On October 9, 2025, India and Australia have inked key defence agreements during the visit of Defence Minister of India to Australia. The key defence agreements were signed in the presence of Defence Minister and Australia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister.
- Both the leaders reviewed the full spectrum of India-Australia defence cooperation, including defence industry, cyber defence, maritime security and regional challenges.
- Australian Defence Minister Richard Marles said the newly signed defence agreement with India is a hugely significant step in strengthening the operational partnership between the two nations’ armed forces.

915. UK Inks Defence Deals Worth Rs 4,150 Crore With India
- On October 09, 2025, the United Kingdom has deepened its defence partnership with India, as it has signed a £350 million (Rs 4,150 crore) pact to supply lightweight missiles to New Delhi, according to a note from the UK Defence Department.
- The contract is set to deliver UK-manufactured Lightweight Multirole Missiles (LMM) built in Belfast to the Indian Army. The UK Defence Department further added that it will support over 700 jobs in Northern Ireland.
- In addition, a new milestone has also been reached in the UK and India’s cooperation on electric-powered engines for naval ships as the countries signed the Implementing Arrangement worth an initial £250 million (Rs 2,972 crore)
916. ChatGPT gets UPI payments, now you can shop from Bigbasket right inside the chat
- On October 9, 2025, OpenAI, in partnership with India’s National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and fintech firm Razorpay, has launched a pilot programme to enable Unified Payments Interface (UPI) payments directly through the AI chatbot ChatGPT
- The collaboration is one of the first attempts to integrate India’s real-time payments network with an AI chatbot, aimed at allowing users to complete purchases within the chat interface itself.
- Banks like Axis Bank and Airtel Payments Bank are joining the pilot as banking partners at the time of writing. While Tata Group-owned e-commerce platform Bigbasket is among the first services where users can shop directly within ChatGPT using UPI, according to a Reuters report.

917. Indian Railways achieves record 56.5% CAPEX utilisation by Sep 2025- highest ever for mid-year
- On October 9, 2025, Indian Railways has achieved a historic milestone in capital expenditure (CAPEX) utilisation, recording 56.5% of total budgetary grants spent within the first six months of the ongoing financial year 2025-26, the highest mid-year utilisation ever achieved by the national transporter.
- According to official data, Indian Railways has utilised Rs 1,42,487 crore out of the total Rs 2,52,200 crore budgetary allocation for FY 2025-26 till September 2025.
- A total of Rs 22,286 crore has been spent out of the Rs 39,456 crore allocation for safety-related works. This includes critical projects such as the expansion of KAVACH, Indian Railways' indigenously developed automatic train protection system, along with track renewals, construction of Road Over Bridges (ROBs), bridges, and improvement of level crossings.
918. Indian Railways unloads two NMG rakes carrying over 230 vehicles simultaneously in J&K
- On October 9, 2025, Indian Railways successfully completed the first simultaneous unloading of New Modified Goods (NMG) rakes loaded with Maruti Suzuki vehicles at two major goods terminals in Jammu and Kashmir.
- The Indian Railways successfully carried out simultaneous unloading of two NMG rakes loaded with over 230 Maruti Suzuki vehicles on the same day at two major goods shed terminals in J&K - Bari Brahmana in Jammu and Anantnag in south Kashmir.
- A Railway official said 113 vehicles of various models and categories were unloaded from the rakes at Bari Brahmana terminal in Jammu while 118 vehicles were unloaded from rakes at Anantnag terminal.
919. Unesco includes Similipal in biosphere reserve
- On 6 May 2012, the Similipal tiger reserve (STR) has been included in the World Network of Biosphere Reserves by UNESCO. It is one of the 14 biosphere reserves of India.
- The recognition came after Regional Plant Resource Centre(RPRC), Bhubaneswar, joined hands with Similipal Biosphere Reserve authorities to document its varied flora and fauna, other special features and conservation efforts carried out in this bio-diversity hotspot. The report was presented to the UNESCO convention in Paris.
- Around 1,265 villages are located in the reserve, with 73% of inhabitants being tribal. Tribes such as the Erenga Kharias, Mankirdias, Ho, Gonda, and Munda practice traditional agriculture, seed and timber collection, and preserve cultural traditions.

920. Achanakmar-Amarkantak Biosphere Reserve Added to UNESCO
- Achanakmar-Amarkantak Biosphere Reserve is the first biosphere reserve of Chhattisgarh State and 14th biosphere reserve of the country, declared by Government of India during the year 2005. In 2012 Achanakmar-Amarkantak Biosphere Reserve Added to UNESCO.
- The core zone has 22 villages with a population of 7,709 inhabitants whereas the buffer zone and transition zones have 396 revenue and forest villages in both States with a population of 4,17,571 inhabitants.
- In all, 27 communities, mostly tribal, scheduled castes and other backward classes, live in the biosphere reserve (Anon, 2012).
