2611. Solar power feeder in Nashik district brings daytime electricity to 5,000 farmers
- On 15 february 2025 around 5,000 farmers in Deopur area of Sinnar now receive daytime electricity through solar power feeder, marking a first in the district.
- The 10 MW solar power plant was implemented under Mukhyamantri Solar Krishi Vahini Yojana (MSKVY).
- Mohan Ranad said We now have freedom to draw water during daytime, manage water distribution in farms, and return home by evening,"one of the residents of the village.
- The solar facility, constructed on 55 acres of land, contributed by Deopur gram panchayat, represents the district's first operational solar plant
2612. ISRO releases 10-tonne propellant mixer
- On 15 february 2025 , the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) announced the development and realisation of a 10-tonne vertical propellant mixer for solid motors.
- The Vertical Planetary Mixers for processing solid propellants is the world’s largest solid propellant mixing equipment. It is developed and designed by Satish Dhawan Space Centre in collaboration with Central Manufacturing Technology Institute, a Bengaluru-based research and development organisation under the Ministry of Heavy Industries
- The propellent weighs around 150 tonnes and is 5.4 metres in length, with a breadth and height of 3.3 metres and 8.7 metres. The system has multiple agitators which are hydrostatic driven and will be remotely operated using PLC-based control system with SCADA stations.

2613. Assam: Centre Announces Rs 10,000 Crore Urea Plant in Namrup, Creating 1,950 Jobs
- On 14 February 2025, the Union Government announced the construction of a Rs 10,000 crore urea plant in Namrup, Assam, which is expected to be completed within 3.5 years. The project will create 1,950 direct and indirect jobs, significantly boosting employment in the region.
- The announcement was made by the Secretary of the Department of Fertilizers, following the Finance Minister's budget allocation for the plant in the Union Budget 2025-26.
- The proposed urea plant will have a production capacity of 12.70 lakh tonnes per year, catering to the North East and Eastern India. Additionally, surplus production can be exported to neighboring countries.

2614. E-Bike Service In J&K: Curve Electric Secures USD 1 Million Funding
- On 12 February 2025 Curve Electric, a micro-mobility startup headquartered in Jammu & Kashmir, has successfully secured USD 1 million in funding (Rs 8.68 crore) from prominent angel investors and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) from the Netherlands. The funding will help expand sustainable urban transportation solutions while reducing traffic congestion and pollution in the region.
- Founded by Sheikh Yameen and Zubair Bhat, Curve Electric operates an e-bike sharing platform focused on tourist-heavy cities. Since its launch, the startup has completed 60,000 rides, covering 750,000 kilometers and offsetting 150 metric tonnes of carbon emissions. It currently operates 100 e-bikes across 11 docking stations in Srinagar, with 80% of its users being locals and 20% tourists.
- The funding round included key investors such as Jinesh Shah from Omnivore, Abhishek Agarwal from Accion, angel investor Komal Nailwal, and ALSiSAR Impact. The fresh capital will be used to scale operations, enhance technology, and expand accessibility.
2615. GOI Allocates Rs 5,835 Cr To J&K For Power Infra
- On February 13, 2025, the Union Government allocated Rs 5,835 crore to Jammu & Kashmir and Rs 876 crore to Ladakh to strengthen power infrastructure under various central schemes.
- The allocation for J&K is being utilized through schemes such as the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) to reduce power losses and improve efficiency, the Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS) to strengthen urban electricity networks, and the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY) for rural electrification and feeder segregation. The Prime Minister’s Development Package (PMDP) is also being implemented to enhance overall infrastructure in the region.
- In Ladakh, the Rs 876 crore allocation is being used to improve electricity transmission and last-mile connectivity, particularly in remote and high-altitude areas. A significant portion of the funds is also directed toward renewable energy projects, leveraging Ladakh’s potential in solar and hydropower generation.
- These financial investments are part of the government’s strategy to enhance electricity availability, reduce losses, and improve efficiency in the power sector of both Union Territories. However, no specific timeline for project completion was mentioned in the Lok Sabha response.
2616. Centre Spent Rs 29,903 Cr on JK Highways, Built 1,003 Km in 5 Years
- On February 14, 2025, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways informed Parliament that the Central government has spent Rs 29,903 crore on developing and maintaining national highways in Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in the construction of 1,003 km of roads over the past five years.
- The investment focuses on four-lane highways and tunnels, aimed at reducing travel time, ensuring year-round connectivity, and strengthening security in the region. Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to modernizing infrastructure in J&K and Ladakh, improving transport efficiency and supporting economic growth.
- In Ladakh, the government has allocated Rs 1,608 crore, leading to the construction of 143 km of new highways. These roads are expected to enhance connectivity to remote border areas and provide better infrastructure for local communities and tourism.
2617. Govt Increases Devolution for Tripura by 430%
- On February 13, 2025, Union Minister highlighted that the Modi government has increased tax devolution for Tripura by 430%, raising it from Rs 89 billion (2004-2014) under the Congress-Left governments to Rs 471.69 billion (2014-2024). The announcement was made during a press conference in Agartala, emphasizing the Union Budget 2025-26’s commitment to Northeast development.
- The budget has also allocated Rs 279.80 billion for the Northeast region, marking a 9% rise from the previous year’s Rs 256.77 billion. Minister emphasized that this increased capital expenditure will boost infrastructure, enhance connectivity, and integrate the region into India’s journey towards becoming the world’s third-largest economy.
- In Tripura, the Special Assistance for Capital Investment has surged to Rs 8.13 billion, alongside investments in the Smart Cities Mission and North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS). The state has also emerged as a key digital gateway with the International Internet Gateway, driving IT expansion and digital connectivity in the region.
- In Assam, minister highlighted the Rs 10,037 crore UNNATI-2024 scheme, a Rs 27,000 crore semiconductor ATMP unit, and the establishment of AIIMS Guwahati. With new medical colleges and South Asia’s largest cancer hospital network, the Northeast is evolving into a hub for industrial growth, healthcare, and education.

2618. Meghalaya: US tech firm to create 200 jobs at Shillong Technology Park
- On February 13, 2025, US-based technology firm SIROBILT Software Services officially began operations at the Shillong Technology Park, marking a significant milestone for Meghalaya’s IT sector. The company plans to hire 200 software professionals, boosting employment opportunities for local talent and strengthening the state’s position as an emerging technology hub in Northeast India.
- Chief Minister took to social media to announce that Phase 1 of the Shillong Technology Park is now fully occupied. 2619. REC Signs ₹2,147 Crore Loan Agreement for 1,000 MW Pakal Dul Hydroelectric Project
- REC Limited has signed a ₹2,147.508 crore loan agreement with Chenab Valley Power Project Limited (CVPPL) for the development and construction of the 1,000 MW Pakal Dul Hydroelectric Project on the Marusadar River in Kishtwar, Jammu & Kashmir.
- The project, with a total estimated cost of ₹12,669.67 crore, is part of India's strategy to boost renewable energy and enhance energy security in J&K, supporting the government’s clean energy transition goals.
- This agreement follows REC’s previous loan commitment of ₹1,869.265 crore to CVPPL in April 2024 for the 624 MW Kiru Hydroelectric Project, also located in Kishtwar, as part of efforts to develop sustainable energy infrastructure in the region.
2620. Maj Rajprasad’s Xploder UGV and Smart Mine System to Give Indian Army a Tactical Edge in Warfare
- On 13 frbruary 2025 the Indian Army has taken a significant leap in indigenous defence technology with the unveiling of two groundbreaking innovations developed by Major Rajprasad RS of the 7 Engineer Regiment.
- The cutting-edge systems, the Xploder-Kamikaze & IED Disposal Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) and the Mobile Reactive Munition System (MRMS), were showcased at Aero India 2025 in Bengaluru.
