23751. Inspired By Parents, Intern Helps 5000 Underprivileged People Get Free Medical Care
- Dr Golam Ahmed Kibria was only an intern at the Burdwan Medical College when the country shut down for the second time due to COVID-19. So he took it upon himself to give free medical healthcare to people in rural and remote parts of West Bengal through his NGO Prayas
- Born to a rural medical practitioner and an ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) worker, Dr Golam Ahmed Kibria was privy to the pain and ordeal that weaker economic sections go through to access healthcare facilities. Since his childhood, he had watched his parents dedicate all their services to bridge this gap.
- Today, his efforts have benefitted thousands — from identifying babies with congenital and neurological disorders to diagnosing an elderly woman who was unable to move due to severe orthopaedic disease, he has touched many lives for the better.

- भविष्य की संभावनाओं के बारे में बात करते हुए नीलेश का कहना है कि ब्रांड ने भारतीय बाजार के 80 प्रतिशत हिस्से पर कब्जा कर लिया है और गहराई से प्रवेश करने की योजना बना रहा है। ब्रांड ने हाल ही में मार्केटिंग अभियान चलाने में कठोर पहल की है और आगे भी करता रहेगा और उत्पाद विकास और पैकेजिंग की दिशा में भी काम करेगा।

- Nuntium का पिछले साल सिंगापुर मुख्यालय वाली एड टेक कंपनी Infomo ने नकद और स्टॉक डील (cash-and-stock) में अधिग्रहण किया था। हालांकि कंपनियों ने लेनदेन की राशि का खुलासा नहीं किया। अधिग्रहण के एक हिस्से के रूप में, दिलीप सहित सभी कर्मचारियों (सात) को अब विभिन्न डिवीजनों के तहत इन्फोमो के लिए काम करना होगा।

- Founded in 2020 by Santosh Kumar, Yeshwanth Raj Parasmal, Dinesh Kumar and Joshi Kumar, 21K School aims to create a 100 percent online school offering children aged 3 to 18 years a choice of three curriculums – Indian, American and British. 21K School is targeting to scale 10X to over 25,000 to 30,000 admissions in the next academic year.

23756. [Funding alert] Fintech startup Slice turns unicorn after raising $220M led by Tiger Global, Insight Partners
- Fintech startup Slice will utilise the funding to expand and strengthen its presence in the payments space, hire talent, and expand its product offerings.
- The startup, which issues credit cards targeted at young professionals, raised $220 million in its Series B round led by New York-based investment firms Tiger Global and Insight Partners, said a statement.
- Bengaluru-based fintech startup Sliceis the latest entrant into the unicorn club, with a five-fold jump in valuation to $1 billion within six months. Founded in 2015 by Rajan Bajaj and Siva Kumar Tangudu, the company has raised $250 million in equity financing to date. This includes its $20 million funding round from Gunosy Capital and Blume Ventures in June, which valued the company at $200 million, according to reports.

These ice pops cost Rs 10 when purchased from a local vendor. However, Ravi is confident of the pricing and believes that they will survive competition from the unorganised market.
- Skippi sells through its own website as well as marketplaces such as Amazon and Flipkart, and also through 2,000 retail outlets across the country. Hyderabad is Skippi’s largest market followed by geographies such as Mumbai, Kerala, Mizoram, and more.
23758. EXCLUSIVE | Bharat Biotech to Export 108 Lakh Covaxin Doses Commercially as Omicron Highlights Vaccine Inequality
- Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin will be exported to Paraguay, Botswana, Vietnam, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Cameroon and the UAE. Botswana is among 12 countries where the Omicron variant has been detected.
- The Centre has approved commercial exports of Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin in view of sufficient stocks of the Covid-19 vaccine available with the states,
- Pune-based Serum Institute of India (SII), was allowed to export 5 million doses of Covishield to the WHO-led vaccine initiative COVAX. Currently India has a stockpile of over 22 crore vaccine doses. The government is yet to take a call on a third dose or booster shot.
- Covaxin will be exported to eight countries — Paraguay, Botswana, Vietnam, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Cameroon and the UAE. Botswana in southern Africa is among 12 countries where the Omicron variant of the virus causing Covid-19 has been found.

23760. India’s First Electric Loco Shed at Kalyan, Mumbai completes 93 glorious years
- Workshops are the backbone of the Indian Railways, ensuring that trains are available for service in tiptop condition and one is India’s first electric loco shed (ELS) in Kalyan, which is part of Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
- This important site of the railways completed 93 years yesterday with Central Railways celebrating the day by holding events at the shed. It was established on November 28, 1928 under the Great Indian Peninsula Railway.
- In 2007 when the Mumbai Division underwent the conversion from DC to AC in the North Eastern Ghat, the wide AC electric goods (WAG)-7 and WAG-5 locomotives were introduced and these were maintained by the shed.
