22721. NanoSniffer: IIT Bombay Incubated Startup Develops World's First Microsensor-Based Explosive Trace Detector

- 1) Nanosniff Technologies, an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay incubated startup, has developed world's first Microsensor based Explosive Trace Detector.
- 2) The home-grown Explosive trace detector device (ETD), called NanoSniffer, can detect explosives in less than 10 seconds and it also identifies and categorises explosives into different classes.
- 3) NanoSniffer has successfully passed Pune based DRDO’s High Energy Materials Research Laboratory (HEMRL) testing and has also been tested by the country’s elite counter-terror force National Security Guard (NSG), the Ministry of Education said on Friday (9 April)
- 4) It accuratedly detects all classes of military, conventional and homemade explosives including RDX, HMX, TNT, TATP, Nitroglycerin, Ammonium Nitrate and plastic explosives. The device gives visible and audible alerts with sunlight-readable color display.
- 5) NanoSniffer is a 100 per cent Made in India product in terms of research, development and manufacturing. The core technology of NanoSniffer is protected by patents in the US and Europe.

- 1) Researchers from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT-Kgp) announced that they have found a novel betel leaf oil extraction technology that they claim is more efficient.
- 2) The extractor is capable of saving 44% of the time and 30% of the energy requirement while increasing the oil yield by more than 16%, as compared to the current processes and apparatus popularly used, they said.
- 3) Proshanta Guha and his research group from IIT Kharagpur’s Agricultural and Food Engineering Department.

- 1) वाराणसी के पुष्कर सिंह ने स्कूल में सोशल डिस्टेंसिंग का पालन कराने के लिए 'एंटी कोरोना स्कूल बैग' तैयार किया है। ये बैग छात्रों से सोशल डिस्टेंसिंग का पालन कराने के साथ ही गुम हुए बच्चों को परिवार से मिलाएगा।
- 2) आर्यन इन्टरनैशनल स्कूल के 11वीं में पढ़ने वाले साइंस के स्टूडेंट पुष्कर सिंह ने पीएम मोदी के मेक इन इंडिया और आत्मनिर्भर भारत अभियान से प्रेरित होकर इस स्मार्ट बैग को तैयार किया है। एनबीटी ऑनलाइन से बातचीत में पुष्कर सिंह ने बताया की ये स्मार्ट स्कूल बैग स्कूल कैम्पस के अलावा बाहर भी कोरोना वायरस से बचाव के लिए दो गज की दूरी का पालन कराएगा।
- 3) पुष्कर ने बताया कि इस स्मार्ट बैग में अल्ट्रासोनिक सेंसर लगाए गए हैं। जो बैग को पीठ पर टांगने के साथ ही ऐक्टिव हो जाते हैं। सेंसर के ऐक्टिव होने के साथ ही जैसे ही कोई भी दो गज के दायरे में आता है। बैग का अलार्म बजने लगता है जिससे इसको इस्तेमाल करने वाला व्यक्ति अलर्ट हो जाता है।
- 4) पुष्कर ने इस बैग पर खास तरह का बारकोड लगाया है। जो बच्चों के गुम होने पर घरवालों तक पहुँचने में उनकी मदद करेगा।
- 5) पुष्कर ने बताया की इस स्मार्ट बैग में नार्मल स्कूल बैग के अलावा,2 अल्ट्रासोनिक सेंसर,3.7 वोल्ट की चार्जेबल बैट्री, अलार्म सिस्टम,पूस स्विच और बारकोड लगाया गया है। महज 2 घण्टे तक इस स्मार्ट बैग को चार्ज कर 5 दिनों तक इसका इस्तेमाल किया जा सकता है।

- 1) The 36 science research laboratories of India under the CSIR umbrella will mentor, influence and hand-hold 295 school innovation labs created through the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM).
- 2) CSIR will nominate top research scholars and scientists to mentor each of these students' innovation labs, called Atal Tinkering Labs, and act as resource persons
- 3) AIM and CSIR will also conduct a series of webinars for students on various topics related to scientific and technological concepts, ideas or societal issues.
- 4) The CSIR adoption comes months after ISRO decided to adopt 100 such student labs to spur scientific and space research ideas among young students.
- 5) The AIM has been forging partnership with government and private institutions and establishments to promote entrepreneurship.

- 1) Villgro, India’s pioneering incubator for social enterprises has launched ‘Incubating Incubators Programme’ to strengthen the start-up ecosystem in India.
- 2) The programme will develop the capacity of incubators through an incubation model focused on one-on-one mentoring, fund-raising demos with donors to build long-term partnerships, and other varied learning opportunities from Villgro and the start-ups it supports.
- 3) The Ministry of MSME and GIZ India will provide assistance to the first cohort of 22 incubators.
- 4) The programme will commence on April 12 and the incubators will graduate from the programme on June 30 with ready-to-use tools and templates, incubations plans, business models, enhanced strategic direction, sectoral knowledge, prospective networks and connection, and a customised roadmap to kick-start their journey in the start-up ecosystem.

- 1) वाहन निर्माता कंपनी टाटा मोटर्स और इंदौर की राजा रमन्ना सेंटर फॉर एडवांस्ड टेक्नोलॉजी (आरआरएसएटी) मिलकर एक नए तरह के वाहन का निर्माण कर रही है। पिछले दिनों दोनो संस्थानों ने इस वाहन के निर्माण के लिए समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किया।
- 2) इस नए वाहन को शिवाय नाम दिया गया है जो ताजे फल, सब्जियां और दवाओं की आपूर्ति करने के काम में लाया जाएगा।
- 3) राजा रमन्ना सेंटर फॉर एडवांस्ड टेक्नोलॉजी, परमाणु ऊर्जा विभाग के अनुसंधान इकाई है। जो शिवाय के रूप में एक ढुलाई के लिए उपयोग में लाए जाने वाले खाद्य प्रद्धार्थों को अपने रेफ्रिजेटर की मदद से फ्रेश रखेगी और बाहर के उच्च तापमान से भी बचाएगी।
- 4) इस वाहन में नई तकनीक का इस्तेमाल करते हुए लिक्विड नाइट्रोजन गैस की मदद से खाद्य पदार्थों को ठंडा रखा जाएगा। इसके लिए कंपनी तीन श्रेणियों में वाहन का निर्माण कर रही है जो छोटे कॉमर्शियल व्हीकल, मीडियम लाइट कॉमर्शियल व्हीकल और मीडियम हैवी कॉमर्शियल व्हीकल शामिल है।
- 5) शिवाय ट्रक में प्रयुक्त ईधन पौधों से ही तैयार किया जाएगा। आरआरसीएटी के निदेशक देवाशीष दास और टाटा मोटर्स वाणिज्यिक वाहनों के वाइस प्रेसिडेंट अनिरुद्ध कुलकर्णी ने नए वाहनों के निर्माण के लिए समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए।

- 1) सामाजिक उद्यमी ने बढ़ते पर्यावरणीय संकट से निपटने के उद्देश्य से, एक ऐसा फेस मास्क बनाया है जो मिट्टी में दफन होने पर पौधे में विकसित हो सकता है।
- 2) नितिन वास एक इको-फ्रेंडली मास्क लेकर आए हैं जो न केवल कपास की छाल से बने हैं, बल्कि इसमें फलों और सब्जियों के बीज भी लगे हुए हैं।
- 3) उन्होंने कहा- “हम एक संगठन के रूप में इस पेपर मास्क को डिजाइन करते हैं। मास्क की पहली परत कपास की लटों से बनी होती है और भीतरी परत कपास की परत से बनी होती है। दिलचस्प बात यह है कि जब इन मास्क को मिट्टी में फेंका जाता है तो इनमें लगे बीजों से पौधे उग आते हैं।” उन्होंने आगे कहा कि ये मास्क जितने नरम होते हैं, उतने अधिक टिकाऊ होते हैं।
- 4) सभी फेस-कवरिंग को शुद्ध रुई के गूदे से बनाया गया है और इसलिए वास ने उन्हें न धोने की सलाह दी है। उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि मास्क की आंतरिक परत कपास के अस्तर से बनी है।

- 1) Researchers at the National Center of Excellence in Technology for Internal Security (NCETIS) of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay, have designed a hand-held explosive detection device that can detect explosives.
- 2) BEAGLEZ, a light-weight hand-held device, can detect explosives used in home-made, military explosives and improvised explosive device (IED).
- 3) The device can find application in screening people, checkpoints, post-blast search, vehicles, buildings, terrorist hotspots, places of importance, crowded establishments and environment.
- 4) BEAGLEZ was designed and commercialised by a team of researchers led by Anil Kumar, professor in the department of chemistry at IIT Bombay, in collaboration with Bigtec Labs, a Bengaluru-based science and technology company. The device has sensitivities that can be at par with canines
- 5) The device can find application in screening people, checkpoints, post-blast search, vehicles, buildings, terrorist hotspots, places of importance, crowded establishments and environment.

- 1) The Chennai-based Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture (CIBA) has developed the country's first vaccine for deadly viral nervous necrosis (VNN) disease, which is currently affecting several species of fish.
- 2) Scientists say the VNN disease is a serious threat affecting many marine, brackishwater and freshwater fish causing up to 100% mortality in larval and early juvenile stages.
- 3) The disease is caused by nervous necrosis virus (NNV). Red-spotted grouper nervous necrosis virus (RGNNV) is the only genotype prevalent in India and most other tropical countries.
- 4) The only practical way to control the disease and prevent vertical transmission is to vaccinate fingerlings and adult fish.
