22641. सीमैप किसान मेला: 21 से 31 जनवरी तक किसानों को मिलेंगी मेंथा की उन्नत किस्मों की जड़ें, ऑनलाइन करें आवेदन
- मेंथा या मेंथाॅल मिंट की खेती करने वाले किसानों के लिए अच्छी खबर है। अगर आप मेंथा की ज्यादा पैदावार और उत्पादन देने वाली किस्म की नर्सरी करना चाहते हैं तो सीमैप से 21 से 31 जनवरी के बीच प्लांटिंग मटेरियल मिल सकता है लेकिन कोविड के चलते पहले ऑनलाइन रजिस्ट्रेशन कराना होगा।
- किसानों को मेंथाल मिंट जैसी नगदी फसल का उपहार देने वाले वैज्ञानिक संस्थान केन्द्रीय औषधीय एवं सगंध पौधा संस्थान (सीएसआईआर-सीमैप) में इस बार किसानों को सिम उन्नति किस्म की जड़ें (सकर्स) दी जाएंगी। कोविड के चलते सीमैप में 21 से 31 जनवरी तक रोजाना करीब 200 किसानों को ये पौध सामग्री दी जाएगी।
- लखनऊ स्थित केंद्रीय औषधीय एवं सगंध पौधा संस्थान (सीमैप) के मुताबिक भारत दुनिया का सबसे बड़ा प्राकृतिक मेंथा का निर्यातक है। भारत में लगभग 3 लाख हेक्टेयर में मेंथा की खेती होती है और करीब सालाना 30 हजार मीट्रिक टन मेंथा ऑयल का उत्पादन होता है।

- 1. कुछ समय पहले भारतीय रेलवे ने किसान रेल चलाई थी ताकि किसानों की आय दोगुनी करने की योजना में रेलवे भी अपना योगदान दे सके। इसके बाद, यात्रियों की सुविधा के लिए क्लोन ट्रेन चलाई गईं और अब पर्यावरण को ध्यान में रखते हुए, रेलवे ने एक और मुकाम हासिल किया है।
- 2. दक्षिण रेलवे के चेन्नई डिवीज़न ने एक ऐसा इंजन/लोकोमोटिव बनाया है, जो बिजली और बैटरी, दोनों से चल सकता है। जी हाँ, इसका नाम है पसुमई लोकोमोटिव, जो कि एक बैटरी-कम-एसी ऑपरेटेड ट्रेन इंजन है। यह इलेक्ट्रिक और नॉन-इलेक्ट्रिक, दोनों सेक्शन में काम कर सकता है।
- 3. अच्छी बात यह है कि एक पुराने इलेक्ट्रिक लोकोमोटिव में ही बदलाव करके इसे बैटरी लगाकर ड्यूल मॉडल बनाया गया है। पहले इस लोकोमोटिव का इस्तेमाल चेन्नई सेंट्रल रेलवे स्टेशन और बेसिन ब्रिज यार्ड के बीच में खाली कोचों की शंटिंग के लिए किया जाता था।
- 4. यह ग्रीन एनर्जी कांसेप्ट है। यह शायद पहली बार है कि किसी इंजन को बैटरी से चलने वाला बनाया गया है।

- 1. राजस्थान के बीकानेर में रहने वाले लक्ष्मण मोदी पिछले कई वर्षों से समाज सेवा से जुड़े हुए हैं। ज़रुरतमंद बच्चों की शिक्षा से लेकर पर्यावरण और जीव-जंतुओं के प्रति वह काफी सजग हैं। इन दिनों वह एक व्हीलचेयर को लेकर सुर्खियों में हैं, जिसे उन्होंने खासतौर पर एक कुत्ते के लिए बनाया है।
- 2. पर्यावरण और जीव-जंतु प्रेमी लक्ष्मण ने हाल ही में एक दिव्यांग कुत्ते के लिए सस्ती और आरामदायक व्हीलचेयर बनायी है जिससे यह कुत्ता कहीं भी आ-जा सकता है।
- 3. लक्ष्मण ने द बेटर इंडिया को बताया, “जिस स्ट्रीट डॉग के लिए मैंने यह व्हील चेयर बनाया है, कुछ समय पहले वह दुर्घटनाग्रस्त हो गया था। मैं उसे तुरंत शहर के पशु अस्पताल लेकर गया। वहाँ उसकी जान तो बच गई लेकिन उसके पिछले दोनों पैर खराब हो गए।”
- 4. पीवीसी पाइप का बिज़नेस करने वाले लक्ष्मण हमेशा से ही स्ट्रीट डॉग्स के प्रति काफी संवेदनशील रहे हैं। उन्हें जब भी गली-मोहल्ले में कोई बेसहारा पशु दिखता है तो वह तुरंत उसकी मदद करते हैं। कई बार बीमार होने पर उन्होंने जानवरों को अस्पताल पहुँचाया है और कई स्ट्रीट डॉग्स को उनके घर में भी पनाह मिली है।
22645. 445 infra projects show cost overrun of Rs 4.4 lakh cr
- 445 infrastructure projects, each entailing investment of Rs 150 crore or more, have been hit by cost overruns totalling more than Rs 4.4 lakh crore.
- Total original cost of implementation of the 1,673 projects was Rs 22,23,791.78 crore and their anticipated completion cost is likely to be Rs 26,64,649.18 crore, which reflects overall cost overruns of Rs 4,40,857.40 crore (19.82% of original cost).
- the expenditure incurred on these projects till December 2021 is Rs 13,08,766.65 crore, which is 49.12 per cent of the anticipated cost of the projects.

22646. Varanasi fast emerging as an agri export hub
- APEDA in collaboration with Uttar Pradesh Mandi Parishad is setting up a pack house and irradiation centre which is mandatory for mango exports to the United States at Mathura which would further boost exports from Uttar Pradesh.
- Varanasi, which is the gateway to Poovanchal region consisting of 17 districts, is fast becoming a buzzing hub for exports of agricultural and processed food products.
- More than 20,000 tonne of cereals, fruits and vegetables sourced from the farmers in several districts including Varanasi, Mirzapur, Prayagraj and Gorakhpur have been exported to Nepal, Bangladesh, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom and Australia in the last six months.

22647. IIT-Khargpur Innovates New Vegetable Oil Packed With Nutrients For the Same Cost
- 1. The vegetable oil in our kitchens may soon be replaced with a healthier blend. The same solution could also turn into a healthier alternative for solid fats in dairy products, in the form of powdered vegetable oil consumables. All of that thanks to an award-winning innovation by IIT-Kharagpur researchers, that promises healthy vegetable oil rich in antioxidants and low on saturated fat.
- 2. Researchers at IIT-Kharagpur claim their patented blend of oils, which is mixed with market-available vegetable oil, makes it low on cholesterol, trans and saturated fats.
- 3. “The proportion of saturated fats varies in the content. However, our oil is endowed with natural antioxidants along with the right proportion of polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fatty acids. They are commonly known as (MUFA & PUFA),” says Hari Mishra, Department of Agricultural and Food Engineering.
- 4. Hari, who heads the project, said the oils are carefully chosen and blended in a particular proportion, combined with patented technology, making it a good replacement for existing vegetable oils. The team bagged the Gandhian Young Technological Innovation (SITARE-GYTI) Award 2020 for this new oil.
22648. . IIT BHU researchers develop new tech to charge electric vehicles that can slash the price of EVs in half
- IIT BHU researchers have developed a new technology to charge electric vehicles in a path-breaking initiative. The demand for electric vehicles and innovation related to the same have shot up in India and researchers have responded to the various policies by the government to ease the rules of EVs charging stations.
- The team of researchers from the Department of Electrical Engineering at the institute developed a new technology for on-board charger for vehicles, which costs about half of the current on-board charger technology. Using this technique will reduce the cost of two and four-wheeler electric vehicles.
- The developed technology will help in production of low-cost electric vehicles which will be beneficial for the common man. The techno-commercial, social, economic and environmental impact of technology will also be positive. The technology will improve charging infrastructure and support the government's mission to bring electric vehicles on Indian roads in a big way

- 54 वर्षीय गणेश कोयंबटूर के रहने वाले हैं और साल 2006 में वे नागपुर स्थित एयरफोर्स स्टेशन से रिटायर हुए थे। रिटायरमेंट के बाद खाली समय को देखते हुए उन्होने खुद को कई एनजीओ से जोड़ने का काम किया जो जरूरतमन्द युवाओं को निशुल्क शिक्षा प्रदान करते थे।
- गणेश फिलहाल जिला रोजगार कार्यालय और नेशनल फेडरेशन फॉर द ब्लाईंड के साथ ही अन्य संस्थाओं से जुड़े हैं। इसी के साथ वे बारालीकाडु में आदिवासी छात्रों के लिए टीएनपीएससी कक्षाओं का भी संचालन कर रहे हैं।
- गणेश के साथ व्हाट्सऐप ग्रुप्स के जरिये 800 से अधिक छात्र जुड़े हैं और वे इन प्रश्नों को व्हाट्सऐप के जरिये उन छात्रों के साथ भी साझा करते हैं। आज केंद्र और राज्य की सेवाओं के साथ ही बैंकिंग आदि में जाने के इच्छुक उम्मीदवार उनके साथ जुड़े हुए हैं। गणेश के प्रशिक्षण के तहत अब तक 15 सौ से अधिक उम्मीदवार विभिन्न सेवाओं में शामिल हो चुके हैं।

- 1. India is the second-largest producer of onions in the world. In 2019-2020 the country exported 11,49,896 MT of fresh onions to the rest of the world. And 28.32% of it was cultivated in Maharashtra.
- 2. Though India produces large quantities of the crop, the price is always fluctuating, sometimes by 800%. For farmers growing this crop, it is either a jackpot or a complete loss.
- 3. According to news reports, since the last week of August, the prices have been on a steady rise owing to heavy rainfall in some states, and poor storage facilities in others.
- 4. Kalyani Shinde, a 23-year-old engineering graduate, who was born and raised in Lasalgaon, home to Asia’s largest onion market, is trying to change that with her startup. Godaam offers technology-based solutions to prevent onion wastage at the warehouse level.
