23551. UP: CRPF jawans reach slain soldier’s home for sister’s wedding, perform brother’s duties
- As a mark of respect for their slain colleague Constable Shailendra Pratap Singh, a number of CRPF jawans travelled to Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh to attend the wedding of his sister Jyoti. They performed all the rituals that her brother would have done.
- Constable Shailendra Pratap Singh of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) died in October 2020 in a terror attack in Kashmir’s Pulwama.
- Shailendra Pratap Singh's father said, “My son is no longer in this world but now we have so many sons in the form of CRPF soldiers who always stand by us in times of happiness and sorrow.”
23552. 1.25 lakh kilometers of roads will be constructed under third phase of PMGSY, Rural Development Minister tells Lok Sabha
- under the third phase of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) 1.25 lakh kilometers of road will be constructed in the country
- the third phase of PMGSY was launched in 2019 to connect major rural links connecting habitations to rural agriculture markets, schools and hospitals.
- Giriraj Singh a total of 71,902 km road length has been sanctioned till 8th December this year and out of which more than 19000 km road length has been completed. The minister said all the state governments have been advised to use at least 15 percent of green technology in construction of such roads.
23553. Union Health Minister says over 55% of India’s eligible population fully vaccinated
- Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has said that over 55 percent of the eligible population of the country are now fully vaccinated
- India has achieved another milestone in its fight against COVID 19 vaccination.

23554. Centre releases Rs 604 cr to J&K to expedite implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission
- Centre has released 604 crore rupees to Jammu and Kashmir to expedite the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission.
- Jammu and Kashmir has planned to became Har Ghar Jal by August next year. Out of 18 lakh 35 thousand rural households in the Union Territory, more than 57 percent households have tap water connections.
- The Ministry said, Central fund of two thousand 747 crore rupees has been allocated to Jammu and Kashmir in the current financial year for the implementation of the mission, which is nearly four times the allocation made during last financial year.
23555. Over 80,000 health and wellness centres set up under Ayushman Bharat: Govt
- A total of 80,701 health and wellness centres (AB-HWCs) have been operationalised across the country under the Ayushman Bharat scheme launched on April 14, 2018.
- This includes 54,618 Sub-Health Centres (SHC), 21,898 Primary Health Centres (PHC) and 4,155 Urban Primary Health Centres (UPHC), as on December 8, 2021, Minister of State for Health Bharati Pravin Pawar said
- In February 2018, the Government of India announced 1,50,000 Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centres (AB-HWCs) to be established across India by December 2022.
23556. Lenskart on verge of closing $250 million funding round at $5 billion valuation
- Softbank-backed unicorn Lenskart is on the verge of closing a $250 million funding round at $5 billion valuation within five months of raising $315 million at $2.5 billion, according to people close to the deal.
- The valuation is close to the market capitalisation of recently listed Warby Parker, an American online retailer of prescription glasses and sunglasses.
- The company’s expansion plan revolves around four focus markets--India, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and the US. It is already the largest eyewear chain in Singapore, with 27 stores and $30 million in revenue.

23557. ADB lowers India’s FY22 GDP growth to 9.7%
- The Asian Development Bank has revised India’s GDP growth forecast for FY22 downwards to 9.7 per cent from 10 per cent projected in September 2021 as the manufacturing sector is expected to grow more slowly than anticipated.
- India had witnessed a strong 20.1 per cent growth rebound in Q1 of FY22. This was followed by growth moderation in Q2 to 8.4 per cent, marginally below expectations as a chip shortage hindered the production and sale of automobiles and many electronic goods.
- GDP growth nevertheless remained strong, driven by growth in private consumption at 8.6 per cent and in investment at 17.2 per cent.

23558. Infosys Consulting acquires Singtel’s delivery centre in Malaysia for $4.4 mn
- Bengaluru-based Infosys was one of the firsts among the Indian technology services ecosystem to deploy a dedicated management consulting arm in 2004.
- The acquisition is aimed at bolstering Infosys' presence in Malaysia as a strategic delivery and sales hub in South East Asia for global clients
- Infosys Consulting Pte. Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Infosys Ltd, said on Wednesday that it has acquired a 100% of the share capital of Singapore Telecommunications Ltd’s (Singtel) delivery centre in Malaysia – Global Enterprise International Malaysia – for SGD 6 million

23559. India's imports from China dip 27.63% during April-August: Piyush Goyal
- India's imports from China declined by 27.63 per cent during April-August this fiscal to $21.58 billion over the same period previous year, Parliament was informed on Monday.
- Value of imports from China stood at $4.98 billion in August and $5.58 in July
- During the first half of September, exports have recorded a growth of 10 per cent over the same period last year, he added.

23560. Vietnam approves Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine against COVID-19
- Since the outbreak of the pandemic, Vietnam has registered 1,739 cases of coronavirus, including 1,739 recoveries and 35 fatalities.
- The Vietnamese authorities have approved the use of the AstraZeneca/Oxford University vaccine against COVID-19, the government news portal reported on Saturday.
- AstraZeneca will deliver 30 million doses of the vaccine to Vietnam in 2021. The first batch of the drug is expected to be delivered to the Asian nation in the first quarter of the year.
