2011. DRDO scramjet test marks a big leap toward hypersonic weapons arsenal
- On April 29, 2025, Defence Research & Development Laboratory (DRDL), a Hyderabad-based laboratory of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), conducted long-duration active cooled scramjet subscale combustor ground testing for more than 1,000 seconds.
- The test, which was in continuation of the earlier test in January 2025 that lasted for 120 seconds, was carried out at the newly-built Scramjet Connect Test Facility at Hyderabad.
- Hypersonic cruise missile is a class of weapons that can travel more than five times the speed of sound (> 6100 Kmph) for a long duration and is powered by an air-breathing engine.
2012. Centre releases guidelines for setting up bio-resource centres to aid natural farming transition
- On 28 April 2025 The Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare has come up with the guidelines for setting up of bio-input resource centres (BRC) under the National Mission on Natural Farming (NMNF).
- Under the guidelines published financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh will be provided as support to set up each centre. But experts and stakeholders have flagged that this amount may be inadequate in successfully setting up and running a BRC that can support transition for farmers to natural farming.
- The initiative was first announced by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman during the budget speech for 2023-24, with a plan to set up 10,000 BRCs.

2014. Apple App Store powers Rs 44,447 Cr boost to India economy in 2024
- On 28 April 2025 Apple’s App Store facilitated a cumulative Rs 44,447 crores ($5.31 billion approximately) in developer billings and sales in 2024,
- according to a new report. About 94 percent of this commerce is said to have gone directly to developers and businesses, without any commission paid to Apple.
- In 2024, Indian developers earned Rs 38,906 crores (about $4.65 billion) from selling physical goods and services, Rs 3,014 crores (about $352.9 million) from in-app advertising, and Rs 2,527 crores (about $302 million) from digital goods and services through the App Store,

2015. Reliance Industries commission its first line for manufacturing of solar panels
- On 28 April 2025 Reliance Industries has commissioned its first line for manufacturing of solar panels and is on track to build battery storage production facilities, the firm said in an investor presentation.
- The first line of solar PV modules (has been) commissioned,” RIL said in an investor presentation post announcing FY25 earnings .
- Domestic solar panel manufacturing will help India in achieving its broader goal of 500 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy capacity by 2030
2016. India, France ink Rs 63,000-crore deal for advanced Rafale-M jets
- On 28 April 2025 India and France formally signed a defence agreement on Monday for the acquisition of 26 Rafale Marine fighter jets, a deal valued at over Rs 63,000 crore.
- The Cabinet Committee on Security approved the procurement of the 26 Rafale-M aircraft for the Indian Navy . The contract encompasses 22 single-seater and four twin-seater jets, along with a comprehensive suite for fleet maintenance, logistical support, personnel training, and the manufacturing of indigenous components.
- The advanced Rafale-M fighter jets are slated to operate from India's aircraft carriers, INS Vikrant and INS Vikramaditya, significantly enhancing the nation's maritime power and its ability to counter threats in the Indian Ocean region.

2017. Titagarh Rail Systems And BHEL Launch Vande Bharat Sleeper Line
- On 28 April 2025 Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd (TRSL), in collaboration with Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL), has inaugurated the dedicated production line for Vande Bharat Sleeper Trains at its advanced facility.
- The production line follows a major Indian Railways contract awarded to the TRSL-BHEL consortium for the design and manufacture of 80 Vande Bharat Sleeper train sets. . Valued at approximately Rs 240 billion, including 35 years of maintenance, the project is aligned with the Make in India and Atma Nirbhar Bharat initiatives.

2020. Northeast railway boosts passenger safety with CCTV surveillance at level crossing gates
- On 27 April 2025 In a significant step toward enhancing passenger safety and ensuring seamless train operations, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has undertaken an initiative to strengthen surveillance at Level Crossing (LC) gates through the installation of high-resolution CCTV cameras.
- CPRO of Northeast Frontier Railway, said that to eliminate risks associated with train movement at level crossings, CCTV cameras have been installed at 28 LC gates across key divisions.
- 'These include 4 in Alipurduar Division, 17 in Lumding Division and 7 in Tinsukia Division. These are enabling railway staff to proactively manage gate operations and prevent potential hazards, such as unauthorised access or obstruction by vehicles.
- This initiative is part of NFR's broader strategy to reduce human error, minimise incidents at crossings and ensure secure, uninterrupted train movements. Additionally, 9 Internet Protocol-based CCTV cameras have been installed at Railway Protection Force (RPF) posts across Katihar, Alipurduar, Lumding and Tinsukia divisions,'
