1981. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari launches multiple road projects worth ₹3,900 cr in Telangana
- Union Road Transport and Highways Minister laid the foundation stone and dedicated to the nation multiple road projects worth 3,900 crore rupees at Sirpur Kagajnagar in Telangana On 5 May 2025.
- The Minister said, the Indore-Hyderabad corridor of the New Green express highway will be completed by March next year, followed by the Surat-Nasik-Kurnool-Hyderabad-Chennai-Tiruvananthapuram Greenfield Highway by April 2026. The Minister also emphasised the need to plan the water resources in various rivers and utilise them where there is a need.
- The Minister said, highway projects worth two lakh crore rupees will be undertaken in Telangana over the next three to four years, ensuring faster connectivity to Hyderabad from remote districts like Kothagudem and Mulugu.

1982. Coal India partners with UPRVUNL to set up solar power plant in UP
- Coal India Ltd (CIL) on 5 May, 2025, said it has signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UPRVUNL to set up a 500 MW solar power project in Uttar Pradesh.
- The development is a part of initiatives of Coal India Ltd in the green energy space and to meet the growing energy demand of Uttar Pradesh.
- In April, Coal India had entered into a pact with Damodar Valley Corporation for setting up an ultra supercritical power plant in Jharkhand with a total investment of ₹16,500 crore.
1983. ISRO reportedly conducts satellite 'dogfight' at nearly 29,000 kilometers per hour amid India-Pakistan tensions
- On 5 May 2025 It was reported that, A month after the US flagged China for conducting mock ‘dogfights’ in space using satellites, India had achieved a similar feat by carrying out a complex satellite manoeuvre using leftover fuel from its SPADEX mission.
- ISRO had launched the SPADEX mission to test autonomous rendezvous and docking capabilities. After its successful completion, the agency found that both satellites involved still had around 50% of their fuel remaining. This was possible due to a precise rocket launch and frugal use of fuel in orbit.
- Two Indian satellites were travelling through space at a speed of 28,800 kilometers per hour, which is 28 times faster than a commercial passenger jet.

- On May 4, 2025, In a landmark move to bolster security and streamline cargo screening operations, Eastern Railway has installed large tunnel-size 180180D Cargo X-ray scanners at Sealdah and Bhagalpur stations.
- X-ray scanners Developed by Vehant Technologies and this installation marks a major leap in the Indian Railways ' technological upgradation efforts to handle rising volumes of larger cargo shipments.
- Indian railway stations have relied on single-view scanners for baggage and parcel screening. However, given the increasing movement of larger cargo packages and the need for higher throughput at key junctions, Eastern Railway opted for the more robust 180180D scanner model, making it the first Made in India Large Tunnel-Size Cargo Scanners.
1985. Chhattisgarh CM lays foundation for India's first AI data center park in Nava Raipur
- On May 3, 2025, In a landmark development poised to reshape India's digital future, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of the nation's first Artificial Intelligence-based Data Center Park in Sector-22 of Nava Raipur.

- The Data Center Park will include a 2.7-hectare area developed as a Special Economic Zone (SEZ). Operated by RackBank Datacenters Private Limited, the project is fully dedicated to AI-based services.

1986. DRDO successfully tests maiden flight trials of Stratoshperic Airship platform
- The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully conducted the maiden flight trials of its stratospheric airship platform from the Sheopur trial site in Madhya Pradesh
- The Defence Ministry said on Saturday “Developed by Aerial Delivery Research and Development Establishment, Agra, the airship was launched carrying an instrumental payload to an altitude of around 17 km.”

1987. Centre approves Rs 22,864-cr Meghalaya-Assam corridor
- On May 2, 2025, the Union Cabinet approved a Rs 22,864 crore greenfield high-speed corridor spanning 166.80 km from Mawlyngkhung in Meghalaya to Panchgram in Assam, developed under the hybrid annuity mode.
- The corridor, covering 144.80 km in Meghalaya and 22 km in Assam, will enhance connectivity between Guwahati, Shillong, and Silchar, easing congestion on NH-06 and boosting industrial growth in cement and coal areas.
- It will improve access to tourist destinations, promote regional cultural exchange, and create jobs, aligning with the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan and the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.

- On May 03 , 2025 The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor has reached a major milestone with the commencement of trial runs up to Modipuram — the final station on the route towards Meerut.
- As part of the latest trial phase, a Namo Bharat train operated between Shatabdi Nagar and Modipuram, traversing for the first time through Meerut’s underground section. This development brings the rapid rail corridor a step closer to full operational readiness.
- "NCRTC has started trial runs up to Modipuram, the last station (towards Meerut) of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat corridor. During the trial run, the Namo Bharat train was operated between Shatabdi Nagar and Modipuram," the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) said in a statement.
