2001. Indian Railways launches specially designed Digital Clocks at 1337 stations
- On May 1, 2025, Ministry of Railways has launched to install specially designed digital clocks at 1,337 railway stations across the country.
- These clocks will not only display time with absolute precision but will also reflect the ethos and aesthetic identity of Indian Railways, symbolising innovation and national pride.
- The aim is to select innovative yet practical clock designs that can be standardised across all railway stations while representing the values of Indian Railways.
2002. The Hydrogen Stream: BPCL commissions 5MW green hydrogen plant at Bina refinery
- On 30 April 2025, It was reported that, Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd had commissioned a 5 MW green hydrogen plant, its first such plant, at Bina Refinery in the Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh. The 5MW facility was virtually inaugurated on April 26, 2025, by Shri G. Krishnakumar, Chairman and Managing Director, BPCL.
- With a production capacity of 2.14 tonnes per day, the plant is expected to help achieve carbon emissions reduction of around 9,000 tonnes per year, supporting India’s decarbonization goals. It is equipped with two advanced electrolysers, each with a capacity of 500 Nm³/hour.
- “Completed in a record time of just 15 months, the project sets a new benchmark in cost-effectiveness and execution speed among India’s public sector oil marketing companies,” stated BPCL.
2003. Agra-Gwalior Greenfield Expressway: NHAI Inks Pact For Rs 4,613 Crore High-Speed Road Corridor
- On 1 May 2025 , National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has signed a concession agreement with GR Infraprojects Ltd. for the construction of the 88 km long, six-lane, access-controlled Agra-Gwalior Greenfield Expressway (NH-719D).
- The expressway will stretch from Deori village in Agra to Susera village in Gwalior, traversing the states of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh, the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways said in a statement.
- The developed under the Build-Operate-Transfer (Toll) model at a total capital cost of Rs 4,613 crore, including land acquisition, the project is expected to be completed in 30 months.

2004. Rs 22,864 crore highway project for Northeast approved
- The government on 30 April 2025, approved Rs 22,864 crore greenfield high speed corridor that will connect Shillong in Meghalaya to Silchar in Assam.
- The 166.9 km highway will be built in the Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM) and approval for it came in the meeting of Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), information and broadcasting minister said. Length and Alignment: The corridor will span 166.80 km, with 144.80 km in Meghalaya and 22 km in Assam.
- The project alignment integrates with major transport corridors, including NH-27, NH-106, NH-206, NH-37 providing seamless connectivity to Guwahati, Shillong, Silchar, Diengpasoh, Ummulong, Phramer, Khlieriat, Ratachera, Umkiang, Kalain, the statement added.

2005. SBI Expands Services to 26 Border Land Ports in Tie-Up with LPAI
- The State Bank of India (SBI), the country’s largest bank, on 29 April 2025 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Land Ports Authority of India (LPAI) to strengthen banking services infrastructure across 26 land ports bordering our neighbouring countries, a release added.
- LPAI operates 15 land ports across 8 border states adjoining Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Myanmar, with 11 more ports sanctioned across states including UP, Bihar, Mizoram, Uttarakhand, and West Bengal.
- Under the MoU, SBI will offer services to both individuals and businesses, including forex transactions, bulk cargo insurance, and digital banking products. Over the next six months, the bank will assess and expand its offerings at these ports in line with the trade and transit demands.
2006. Indian Railways Launches 'Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Circuit' Heritage Train
- On 1 May 2025 , In a tribute to the legendary Maratha ruler, the Indian Railways is launching the 'Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Circuit' — a 6 day five-day night heritage train tour that will take history enthusiasts on an unforgettable journey through Maharashtra's most iconic landmarks associated with the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
- The tour, scheduled to begin on June 9, 2025, will offer an immersive experience, providing passengers the opportunity to visit historical forts, temples, and monuments linked to the Maratha king's remarkable legacy.
- Starting from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai, the train will cover significant destinations such as Raigad Fort, Lal Mahal and Kasba Ganapati, Shivsrushti, Shivneri Fort, Pratapgarh Fort, Panhala Fort, Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga, and Mahalakshmi Temple in Kolhapur
2007. India’s plastics exports grow 8% in FY 2024–25, reaching USD 12.5 billion: PLEXCONCIL
- On 30 April 2025, It was reported that, The Plastics Export Promotion Council (PLEXCONCIL) recorded an 8% increase in exports during the financial year 2024–25, with total exports reaching USD 12.5 billion, up from USD 11.5 billion in 2023–24.
- The growth in India’s plastics exports during FY 2024–25 was driven by strong performances across several key product categories. Plastic Films & Sheets saw a robust 15.9% rise, increasing from USD 1,750 million to USD 2,028 million, while FIBC, Woven Sacks, Woven Fabrics & Tarpaulin grew by 16% to reach USD 1,571 million, up from USD 1,355 million.
- “India’s plastics export sector has demonstrated remarkable performance, growing by 8% to reach USD 12.5 billion in 2024–25. This growth is a testament to our industry's innovation, adaptability, and strong global demand across diverse product categories and geographies,” said Vikram Bhadauria, Chairman of PLEXCONCIL, in a statement.

2008. TN CM launches special scheme on electronics components targets Rs 30 000 cr investments
- On April 30,2025, Aiming to garner investments to the tune of Rs 30,000 crore and create 60,000 jobs in the State, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin launched the 'Tamil Nadu Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme.
- The 'Tamil Nadu Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme' would offer incentives to attract companies that benefit under the Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme of the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, it said.
- Through this scheme, the government would offer incentives that match the subsidies announced under the Centre's scheme.
2009. Odisha Government sign MoU with Gates Foundation to promote agricultural transformation in state
- On 30 April 2025 The Government of Odisha signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gates Foundation to scale up farmers' income and promote inclusive agricultural transformation in Odisha.
- The MoU outlines a multi-year partnership focusing on technical support, research, and on-ground implementation of climate-smart agricultural practices. Anchored by the Department of Agricultural and Farmers' Empowerment (DAFE) and the Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Department.
- The initiative will drive science-based, ground-level interventions for sustainable agricultural growth.

2010. Meghalaya Government Partners with Digital India to Digitize Garo and Khasi Languages
- The MoU was signed in the presence of Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma and Minister of Art and Culture Paul Lyngdoh, along with members of the Khasi and A’chik Literature Societies.
- BHASHINI, a key initiative under the Digital India programme, aims to bridge language barriers by using advanced natural language technologies. Already functional in 22 Indian languages, the addition of Garo and Khasi places Meghalaya among the select states making their indigenous languages digitally accessible
- Khasi language has been recently incorporated the BHASHINI app development phase for refinement while efforts are underway to establish the Garo language within the platform.
