- 2015 में जब देश भर में बढ़ते प्रदूषण की बात हो रही थी, इसी समस्या का हल ढूंढ निकाला है IIT हैदराबाद ने। IIT हैदराबाद के डिज़ाइन विभाग के पीएचडी स्कॉलर प्रियब्रत राउतराय और उनके साथी, अविक रॉय ने मिलकर खेतों में फसल के बाद बचने वाली पराली का उपयोग करके ‘Bio Brick’ बनाई है, जिसे बिल्डिंग मटीरियल के तौर पर इस्तेमाल में लिया जा सकता है। सितंबर, 2021 में IIT हैदराबाद में Bio Brick से बने एक गार्ड-रूम का उद्घाटन किया गया है। यह भारत की पहली बिल्डिंग है, जो Bio Brick से बनी है। मूल रूप से ओडिशा से संबंध रखने वाले प्रियब्रत और अविक, दोनों ही आर्किटेक्ट हैं। प्रियब्रत फ़िलहाल पीएचडी कर रहे हैं तो अविक KIITS स्कूल ऑफ़ आर्किटेक्चर, भुवनेश्वर में शिक्षक हैं।
- अविक बताते हैं, “साल 2011 में, हमने साथ में मिलकर अपना Design firm, “R Square Dezign” शुरू किया। हमने कई डिजाइनिंग प्रोजेक्ट्स किए। लेकिन पिछले कुछ सालों में, जब दिल्ली में बढ़ रहे प्रदूषण पर चर्चा बढ़ी तो हमारा ध्यान इस ओर गया। एक तरफ पराली की समस्या थी और दूसरी तरफ कंस्ट्रक्शन इंडस्ट्री में बढ़ती ईंट की मांग। काफी समय तक विचार-विमर्श करके हमने इन दोनों परेशानियों का एक हल ढूंढ़ा और वही हल है Bio Brick।” देश में लगभग 140000 ईंटों की भट्ठियां हैं, लेकिन फिर भी निर्माण कार्यों के लिए ईंटों की आपूर्ति नहीं हो पाती है। साथ ही, ईंट बनाने के लिए मिट्टी की सबसे ऊपर परत का इस्तेमाल किया जा रहा है, जिसके कारण मिट्टी की गुणवत्ता घट रही है। ईंट की ये भट्ठियां न सिर्फ बहुत ज्यादा ऊर्जा लेती हैं, बल्कि इनसे होने वाला प्रदूषण भी काफी ज्यादा है।
- लगभग छह सालों की मेहनत के बाद आखिरकार वह अलग-अलग फसलों के अपशिष्ट से ईंट बनाने में कामयाब हो गए। उन्होंने अपनी ‘बायो ब्रिक’ को Rural Innovators Start-Up Conclave 2019 में प्रेजेंट किया। जहां उन्हें सस्टेनेबल हाउसिंग केटेगरी में Special Recognition Trophy मिली। इसके बाद, उन्होंने अपनी इस तकनीक के लिए पेटेंट फाइल किया और अप्रैल 2021 में उन्हें पेटेंट भी मिल गया।
- IIT हैदराबाद के BUILD (Bold Unique Idea Lead Development) प्रोग्राम के तहत उन्हें इस प्रोजेक्ट के लिए फंडिंग मिली। बायो ब्रिक से बने होने के कारण कमरे के अंदर का तापमान बाहर के तापमान से लगभग छह डिग्री कम रहता है। वहीं, चुने और सीमेंट को बाइंडर मटेरियल की तरह इस्तेमाल करने से यह आग प्रतिरोधी भी है। इसके अलावा, मिट्टी की ईंट से बायो ब्रिक का वजन पांच गुना कम होता है तो सीमेंट की ईंटों से आठ गुना कम होता है। सामान्य ईंट की तुलना में, अगर बायो ब्रिक को बड़े स्तर पर बनाया जाए तो एक ईंट की कीमत दो से तीन रुपए आएगी।
