1. Assam CM Hands Over Jobs To 5,690 Candidates In Education Department
- On March 12, 2026, the Government of Assam distributed appointment letters to 5,690 candidates in the education department at a ceremony in Guwahati, strengthening the state’s teaching workforce and employment generation.
- The Chief Minister of Assam handed over the appointments through a transparent, merit-based recruitment process, aimed at creating jobs for youth and improving the education system.
- Appointments include 3,515 higher-secondary teachers, 446 provincialised-school teachers, 177 assistant professors, and four engineering-college principals. The government said 95,000 teachers were recruited in five years and plans to hire 65,000 more in the next five years.
2. Kavach 4.0 commissioned on 1,452 km of key rail routes; safety spending on Indian Railways triples
- On March 11, 2026, Indian Railways commissioned Kavach 4.0, an indigenous Automatic Train Protection system, across 1,452 route kilometres on the Delhi–Mumbai corridor and Delhi–Howrah corridor to enhance train safety and operations.
- Union Railway Minister informed the Lok Sabha that the system assists loco pilots by automatically applying brakes, maintaining speed limits, and enabling safe operations during low visibility through integrated signalling, RFID tags, telecom towers, and fibre-optic communication.
- Over 8,570 km of optical fibre, 1,100 telecom towers, and 6,776 km of trackside equipment support the system; 4,154 locomotives already use Kavach. Train accidents declined from 135 (2014–15) to 14 (2025–26), while ₹2,763.9 crore has been spent on implementation.
3. Indian Defence Export Milestone: Yantra India Limited Ships First Batch of Guided Pinaka Rocket Pods to Armenia
- On March 12, 2026, India and Armenia signed a defence agreement for the supply of the Guided Pinaka rocket system, strengthening military cooperation and boosting India’s defence exports.
- The deal involves India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation and defence manufacturers supplying the system to Armenia, enhancing precision strike capability through advanced guided rockets and modern launcher technology.
- The Pinaka multi-barrel rocket launcher can strike targets up to 75 km with guided rockets, offering high accuracy and rapid-fire capability, reflecting India’s expanding global defence exports and strategic partnership with Armenia.
4. India’s LPG Production Increases by 25% Following Government Measures to Boost Domestic Supply
- On March 12, 2026, in New Delhi, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas announced that India’s LPG production increased by 25% after government measures to boost domestic supply for household consumers.
- Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, said the government ordered refineries and petrochemical complexes to maximise LPG output by diverting propane, butane, propylene, and butenes streams into the LPG pool.

6. Cabinet approves ₹4,474 crore railway multitracking projects in West Bengal and Jharkhand
- On March 10, 2026, the Union Cabinet approved ₹4,474-crore railway multitracking projects in West Bengal and Jharkhand, adding new fourth railway lines on busy routes to strengthen connectivity and increase rail network capacity in eastern India.
- The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister of India, approved the projects under the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan, enabling integrated planning to enhance rail capacity, reduce congestion, and improve passenger and freight movement.
- The projects include the Sainthia–Pakur and Santragachi–Kharagpur fourth railway lines, expanding the network by about 192 km, benefiting 5,652 villages with 1.47 crore people, improving freight transport of coal, cement, steel, food grains, and petroleum products.
7. 1 in 4 iPhones are now made in India as Apple ramps up production by 53 per cent
- On March 11, 2026, reports showed that Apple Inc. increased Apple iPhone production in India by 53% in 2025, assembling about 55 million units, up from 36 million in 2024, according to industry reports.
- Apple, with manufacturing partners Foxconn, Pegatron, and Tata Electronics, expanded iPhone assembly in India, supported by the government’s Production-Linked Incentive scheme and supply-chain diversification away from China.
- India now produces about 25% of global iPhones, with total annual production around 220–230 million units worldwide. The country also assembles the latest iPhone models and exports devices globally as Apple strengthens India as a major manufacturing hub.

8. India's exports of active pharma ingredients at ₹41,500 cr surpassed imports in FY25
- On March 10, 2026, in New Delhi, the Government of India announced that India’s active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) exports reached about ₹41,500 crore in FY2024-25, surpassing imports worth ₹39,215 crore for the first time.
- Jagat Prakash Nadda, Union Chemicals and Fertilizers Minister, informed the Rajya Sabha that exports exceeded imports due to government initiatives like the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, aimed at boosting domestic manufacturing of APIs and reducing import dependence.
- India imported APIs worth ₹36,229 crore in 2022-23, ₹37,721 crore in 2023-24, and ₹39,214 crore in FY2024-25; imports from China rose to ₹29,064 crore (74% share). The ₹6,940-crore PLI scheme created 56,800-tonne annual capacity and 4,896 jobs

9. Adani to invest $100 billion in AI data centres by 2035
- The Adani Group announced that it will invest $100 billion to build data centers for artificial intelligence (AI) in India by 2035. These data centers will be powered by renewable energy.
- The company said in a statement this investment aims to make India a leader in AI by creating the necessary energy and computing platforms.
- The initial investment is expected to lead to an additional $150 billion in related industries by 2035, including server manufacturing, electrical systems, and cloud platforms. This will create $250 billion worth of AI infrastructure in India over the next decade, the company stated.
10. DRDO, Navy successfully test indigenous Air-Droppable Container for mid-sea emergency support
- On March 10, 2026, the Defence Research and Development Organisation and the Indian Navy successfully tested the indigenous Air-Droppable Container ADC-150 from a Boeing P-8I Poseidon aircraft during in-flight trials conducted off the coast of Goa
- DRDO and the Indian Navy jointly carried out four in-flight release trials by dropping the ADC-150 from the P-8I aircraft under extreme conditions to validate its performance, enabling rapid aerial delivery of essential supplies to naval vessels operating far at sea.
- The ADC-150 can deliver a 150-kg payload, including equipment, medical supplies, and emergency stores, to ships in distress. Developed with contributions from multiple DRDO laboratories, the system completed all flight trials successfully and is expected to be inducted into naval operations soon.
