941. India Announces 2 Cross-Border Rail Links With Bhutan
- On September 30, 2025, India unveiled its plan to build two cross-border train links with Bhutan at a cost of over Rs 4,000 crore, in first such railway connectivity projects with the Himalayan nation to boost trade and economic engagement.
- The details on the new rail projects linking the Bhutanese cities of Gelephu and Samtse with Kokrajhar in Assam and Banarhat in West Bengal respectively was made public by Railway Minister and Foreign Secretary .
- Under the two projects, 89 kms of railway lines will be laid and work is expected to be completed in the next four years.
942. LG lays foundation stone for 60 projects of AMRUT 2.0 worth Rs 699.79 cr
- On September 29, 2025, the Lieutenant Governor laid the foundation stone for 60 projects of AMRUT 2.0 worth Rs 699.79 crore. In his address, the Lieutenant Governor lauded the efforts of the Housing & Urban Development Department and the Jammu Municipal Corporation for fostering inclusive growth and improving their infrastructure and services for the city’s residents

943. 175 cr road development project launched in Vizag to advance urban mobility
- On September 30, 2025, In a major push to road infrastructure in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh VMRDA (Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority) has finalised tenders and launched works on seven master plan roads with a budget of Rs 175 crore
- The roads are being constructed in areas surrounding Bhogapuram, including Bheemili, Anandapuram, Gambheeram, and Adavivaram-Sontyam (near Simhachalam). Of the 15 roads jointly proposed by VMRDA, GVMC, and the roads and buildings dept, seven received approval from the govt, following which VMRDA finalised the tenders.
- Covering a length of 27 kilometres, these roads are intended to ease passenger traffic on the national highway connecting the upcoming Bhogapuram airport.

944. India-Bhutan rail links costing ₹4,033 crore announced
- On September 29, 2025, India announced two new rail links, Kokrajhar-Gelephu (Assam) and Banarhat-Samtse (West Bengal), totaling 89 km, connecting India with Bhutan to enhance bilateral connectivity.
- Foreign Secretary and Union Railway Minister announced the projects, following an MoU signed during PM Modi’s Bhutan visit, aiming to integrate Bhutan with India’s railway network for trade and mobility.
- Kokrajhar-Gelephu (₹4,033 crore) includes six stations, 29 major and 65 minor bridges, two viaducts, one flyover, 39 underpasses; Banarhat-Samtse (₹577 crore) has two stations, 24 minor flyovers, one major flyover, 37 underpasses, enhancing Bhutanese access to 1,50,000 km of Indian railways.

945. Bihar gets seven new trains, including three Amrit Bharat Express services
- On 29 September, 2025, seven new trains, including three Amrit Bharat Express services, were flagged off in Bihar to improve passenger connectivity and strengthen railway infrastructure.
- Inaugurated by Railway Minister and Deputy CM, the trains feature semi-automatic couplers, fire detection systems, sealed gangways, and talk-back units in non-AC coaches.
- Bihar’s railway budget rose from ₹1,000 crore (pre-2014) to ₹10,000 crore, with projects worth ₹1 lakh crore underway, including electrification, new lines, bridge projects, and 13 Amrit Bharat Express covering 42 stops in 25 districts.
946. Three Subs Three Mates Three Days: Indian Navy achieves historic milestone in submarine rescue op
- On 27 September 2025 in the South China Sea, the Indian Navy’s Deep Submergence Rescue Vehicle successfully mated with three foreign submarines during Exercise Prasthan-25, marking a milestone in India’s submarine rescue capability.
- Led by Commanding Officer Amitsubhro Banerji aboard INS Nistar, the Navy demonstrated rescue readiness using DSRVs, ROVs, and diving support operations, highlighting how India integrates with foreign navies in complex underwater rescue missions.
- The Navy earlier collaborated with 17 partner nations to refine rescue procedures before Exercise Pacific Reach in Singapore. These efforts reinforce India’s role as a dependable maritime partner committed to safety, interoperability, and humanitarian response at sea.
947. Centre sanctions Rs 3000 crore to boost domestic manufacturing of power tools in India
- On September 28, 2025 the government announced a ₹3,000 crore allocation to boost domestic power tool manufacturing, with an industry expo held in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
- NITI Aayog set targets to raise India’s share to 25% in hand tools and 10% in power tools in the next decade through reforms, clusters, and exports.
- The initiative will reduce import dependence, create jobs, retain value in India, and improve competitiveness in global markets.
948. PM Modi Lays Foundation Stone for Phase-B Development of IIT Jammu
- On September 27, 2025, PM virtually laid the foundation stone for Phase-B infrastructure of IIT Jammu in Jammu district, Jammu & Kashmir, following the completion of Phase-A.
- Union Minister attended physically; Phase-B expansion sanctioned at ₹1,398 crore will add academic, residential, and laboratory infrastructure along with a dedicated research park.
- The expansion aims to boost industry-academia collaboration, promote start-ups, assist SMEs with technology solutions, and enhance research opportunities in North India.
949. Travel from Bengaluru to Mumbai on new superfast train soon: Railway minister
- On 27 September, 2025, the Union Ministry of Railways has approved a new superfast train between Bengaluru and Mumbai, addressing a 30-year-old demand and providing an alternative to the 24-hour Udyan Express journey.
- The train will decongest travel, benefit lakhs of daily commuters, boost economic and social ties between the two cities, and provide a comfortable alternative to flights and buses.
- Last year, over 26 lakh people traveled by air between Bengaluru and Mumbai; the new train service will make travel more affordable and convenient, particularly for frequent travelers and business commuters.
950. PM Modi lays foundation stone for IIT Bhilai Phase B, boosting research, innovation, and infrastructure in Chhattisgarh
- On September 27, 2025, Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for the Phase B construction of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhilai in a virtual ceremony.
- During the event, the Prime Minister also inaugurated Phase B of seven other IITs: IIT Patna, IIT Indore, IIT Jodhpur, IIT Tirupati, IIT Palakkad, IIT Dharwad, and IIT Jammu. A live telecast of the ceremony took place at the Nalanda Lecture Hall on the IIT Bhilai campus.
- The Government of India approved Rs 2,257.55 crore for Phase B on May 29, of which Rs 1,092 crore is allocated for campus construction. This expansion will add an additional built-up area of 1,51,343 square metres.
