551. Indian Railways Ramps Up Renewable Energy Usage for Traction With 812 MW Solar and 93 MW Wind Capacity Commissioned; Targets Net Zero by 2030
- On December 12, 2025 it was reported that, Indian Railways commissioned 812 MW solar and 93 MW wind power across India, alongside tying up 1,600 MW RTC renewable energy to strengthen its nationwide clean-energy transition.
- Union Minister of Railways informed Parliament that Indian Railways is progressing toward Net Zero 2030 by adopting renewable power, electrifying nearly the entire network, and modernizing operations through technological upgrades and efficiency improvements.
- Indian Railways achieved 99.2% Broad Gauge electrification, rising from 21,801 km before 2014 to 46,900 km between 2014–2025. This reduced reliance on diesel and coal, integrating renewable power as a core decarbonization strategy.
552. Road safety for wildlife: NHAI introduces 'table-top red marking' on Bhopal–Jabalpur highway; project covers 11.9 km
- On December 12, 2025 it was reported that, A week after a cheetah cub was killed, NHAI introduced a 5 mm thick table-top red marking on a two-kilometre wildlife-sensitive stretch of the Bhopal–Jabalpur NH-45 passing through Veerangana Durgavati Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh.
- NHAI implemented the measure by applying a raised red surface to slow vehicles, adding white shoulder lines, erecting chain-link fencing, installing speed detectors, and constructing 25 underpasses based on wildlife movement patterns.
- The 11.9-kilometre NH-45 expansion project cost ₹122.25 crore, with two kilometres featuring table-top red marking. These safety features aimed to reduce animal-vehicle collisions and improve driver awareness in forested zones.

553. UDAN Scheme Completes 9 Years, Facilitates 1.56 Crore Passengers Across India
- On October 21, 2025 at an event in New Delhi marking the scheme’s 9th anniversary, the Civil Aviation Secretary highlighted that UDAN—launched on 21 October 2016—has enabled over 1.56 crore passengers through 3.23 lakh regional flights.
- The Civil Aviation Secretary stated that the government will continue UDAN beyond April 2027 under an Expanded Framework, focusing on improved connectivity for hilly, Northeastern, and aspirational regions, along with developing around 120 new destinations.
- UDAN has operationalised 649 routes, connected 93 unserved airports, and supported operations with ₹4,300 crore in Viability Gap Funding and ₹4,638 crore for airport development. UDAN 5.5 introduced seaplane guidelines and issued Letters of Intent for 150 new routes.
554. India Becomes World’s 3rd-Largest Aviation Market, Says Civil Aviation Minister
- On November 17, 2025, the Civil Aviation Minister inaugurated the Airports Authority of India Pavilion at the 44th India International Trade Fair in New Delhi, showcasing India’s aviation advancements and growing market presence.
- The Civil Aviation Minister emphasized educating children in aviation technology and highlighted how modernisation, improved airport infrastructure, and strengthened regional connectivity are driving the sector’s rapid growth.
- India is now the world’s third-largest aviation market. The pavilion displays aircraft operations and aviation technology, reflecting government efforts to expand passenger services, enhance operational capacity, and advance the vision of a self-reliant, developed nation.
555. Safran Aircraft Engine Services facility: PM Modi inaugurates India's first global MRO facility, check details
- On November 26, 2025, the Prime Minister inaugurated the Safran Aircraft Engine Services India facility at the GMR Aerospace and Industrial Park in Hyderabad, marking India’s first MRO centre established by a global aircraft engine manufacturer.
- The Prime Minister launched the project virtually, while Safran invested ₹1,300 crore to build a 45,000 sqm MRO centre capable of servicing 300 LEAP engines yearly, employing over 1,000 technicians by 2035 with advanced repair systems.
- The facility supports Airbus A320neo and Boeing 737 MAX engines, reduces overseas MRO dependence, strengthens supply chains, and aligns with Aatmanirbhar Bharat. Safran announced additional defence investments and aims to triple India revenue to over €3 billion by 2030.
556. Launch of Cancer Care, MCCD project in Nagaland
- On September 7, 2022, the chief secretary launched the MCCD and ACC projects at a state-level programme in Kohima, aiming to expand affordable cancer care and improve death certification systems across Nagaland.
- The chief secretary stressed affordability and evidence-based healthcare, while Tata Memorial Center and state departments collaborated to provide training, establish district-level cancer screening, and set up chemotherapy and radiotherapy centres in Kohima and Dimapur.
- Nagaland signed an MoU with Tata Trusts in 2018; only 7% of cancer deaths are currently certified. Upcoming medical colleges, CSR-backed health projects worth ₹20 crore, and centres for radiotherapy and chemotherapy are planned to strengthen statewide healthcare capacity.

557. PM Modi Dedicates Northeast's 1st AIIMS, 3 New Medical Colleges In Assam
- On April 14, 2023 The Prime Minister dedicated the first AIIMS in the Northeast at Guwahati, Assam, and virtually inaugurated three new medical colleges in Nalbari, Nagaon, and Kokrajhar, strengthening healthcare infrastructure in the region.
- The Prime Minister launched these facilities virtually and laid the foundation of the Assam Advanced Healthcare Innovation Institute, designed to integrate engineering with medical research for advanced healthcare innovation.
- AIIMS Guwahati cost ₹1,123 crore; AAHII ₹546 crore. Three medical colleges add 300 MBBS seats, raising Assam’s total to 1,500. Additionally, 1.1 crore Ayushman cards were issued, offering up to ₹5 lakh cashless treatment.

558. Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurates Ayurvedic Hospital in Assam's Majuli
- On October 8, 2023, the Union Minister inaugurated a 50-bed Ayurvedic Hospital at Sriram Chapori in Majuli, Assam, offering specialised OPD services, therapy units, and comprehensive Ayurvedic healthcare facilities for the region.

560. Kashmir – People celebrate as their village gets electricity first time since 1947
- On June 28, 2019, Marhama Dadoo village in Anantnag district received electricity for the first time since 1947, ending decades of darkness and marking a major development milestone for the remote community.
- The State-run Power Development Department electrified the village under centrally sponsored schemes, installing nearly 250 utility poles, transformers, and tailored transmission structures to ensure safe and reliable power delivery.
- Three mohallas benefitted from the project, with residents—especially women—celebrating the long-awaited electrification. Locals expressed gratitude to the department for bringing light and improving living conditions after decades without electricity.
